Akane laughed, she was pleased with Eira getting slightly bolder in the red lady’s presence. Eira should have known that the red lady always teased in good fun with minimal collateral damage; minimal for Akane.
Akane listened to Zandrophin and smiled at his last statement. She would have loved for him to break Eira like he tried Akane. His newest pokemon strode forward.
“What an adorable little pokemon.” She opened her mind to Mentus. ”I bet he’s quite the little pocket monster under your leadership.” Akane laughed and smiled sweetly.
Good to see you again, your highness. Glad I get to see your Pokemon in action and not just their intimidating stare. Good luck everyone. His flattery amused her, but was subtle enough she appreciated it. She gave him a slight bow.
“Well I’m sorry I took your spot. I’m sure you were eyeing that silver piece Lady Eira calls her badge; you know, to go along with your current one.” Akane intentionally put the spotlight on him. She didn’t care if Eira made her loose out of spite, she just wanted a good show. Doom howled and grumbled. Akane watched as all but the really tough pokemon trembled. He was as fired up as she was.

"Wait we have to make an entrance?" Maya asked frantically to no one in particular. She looked at Bo. "Oh sh*t I didn't think of that! Did you?"
Maaaa?" Bo questioned, wagging her tail excitedly.
"No of course you didn't... Ok um... Could you do like a flip when you pop out or... Cr*p... Wait! I think I have a ball capsule!" She dug around in her bag that sat on a chair and unearthed a clear ball shaped capsule. "Seals... I need seals..." She continued digging through her bag frantically hoping she had one stuffed in the bottom or it got caught on the inside of the bag. Maya almost had her head all the way inside the bag.
"It's not a big deal. I'm a trainer, not a coordinator. Contest badges are nice to display, but gym badges are what I love. If I start getting a collection of contest badges, I'll have to have them hanging back at home so I don't mess them up on my travels. Besides, there's always next time, as long as you and Doom don't melt the place down today." Marcus smiled as he had, for once, a relaxed conversation with Lady Akane. Well, as relaxed a conversation as one could have with someone like her.
"I think it's time we begin," Eira murmured to herself, wondering how she should begin the contest. She looked towards the audience as she stood, taking in a deep breath to calm her nerves as she turned to face the large crowd that had gathered to watch today's event. "Everyone, welcome to the first contest to be held in these halls and in Eirlys period. As you have seen the grand hall that had been built by the hard work of the trainers and Pokemon that live here, I hope to see the performances put together by the hard work of contestant and Pokemon on this stage. I have confidence that today's contest will be a great way to christen Lapras Lounge in its new career. Like you, I hope to see many beautiful performances and will be strictly judging on how beautiful the trainers can make their Pokemon look today as to match the beauty of the ice we are surrounded by. The first round is the performance round, so please let's here it for our first contestant, Queen Akane of Celosia!"
The red lady laughed. Marcus was surely an interesting trainer. ”I can make no promises. Doom has developed an… interesting trick with his fire. I intend to use it today.” She laughed, but Eira had announced the contest, and as expected, Akane was first as royals always are. Though she had to admit she was a little disappointed he didn’t hold her badge with a much regard as a gym badge. She decided her next competition would be just as hard as any contest battle.
"Sanity is only an idea made real, to make those who are boring feel better." -Akane
Bowing in respect, Marcus left the room to let the contestants get ready for their performances.
Finding his way to the booth, Marcus felt slightly out of place and awkward in this very royal looking half-room, with ornate sculpted decorations flourishing the walls and front. Taking his seat, Marcus whispered to Eira, "Do they always treat you this lavishly? Even when you constantly tell them to leave you alone? This is really spectacularly decorated..." Before Eira could respond, Akane came out and was a bout to give her performance, Marcus let out Lex so he could see just what it meant to see a high-class contest performance.
The red lady stripped herself of her shiny, black furfrou coat and gingerly handed it to her guard. Akane had neither fear nor stage fright. Houndoom was well groomed and his fur shined like polished onyx lava rocks, all the better to reflect his fiery moves. Houndoom powerfully strode ahead of his master towards the back of the stage facing the audience. Akane stood at the very front of the stage and looked Lady Eira dead in the eye. ”Lady Eira, I am most thankful to be a guest here in your halls, for those of you who don’t know me,” The red lady turned to the people on either side of Eira, ”I am the very ruler of the Celosian Kingdom. I give you all my respect, as I hope to earn all of yours today.” Akane tucked her arm into her stomach and gave a slight bow, which was the signal for houndoom to start building a spiraling vortex of red wisps from will-o-wisp.
Doom began to change the intensities for the individual wisps’ temperatures which made them smoothly alternate from the cooler flame colors of red, orange, and yellow, to the hotter flames of white and blue all at different times. Akane then ordered Doom to stop the wisps from spiraling, and to lay them out in a strategic circle in front of him. The wisps continued to shift in their colors, even when Doom preformed a dark pulse to send them in different directions. Two ended up within five feet of Akane on either side. From a bird’s eye view, the color-changing wisps would be dots in a perfect half circle with doom being in the center of the wisps. Finally Akane ordered Doom to make and hold the wisps into magnificent flaming towers of alternating colored fire spins. The two tall towers of fire spins behind Akane made her hair and dress flare wildly to the sides as she stated in a loud, calm voice,
“I hope Celosia did not disappoint you!” She began to raise her arms and when they became outstretched perfectly to across, Doom made the flaming towers instantly dissipate. Akane and Doom bowed to the Queen, before gracefully moving off stage. Doom needed to sit and rest after so much concentration and Akane handed him a beauty pokeblock. Akane felt a drop from the slightly melted ceiling land on her now bare shoulder. Whoops.
"Sanity is only an idea made real, to make those who are boring feel better." -Akane
Eira sat in stunned silence for a moment before she stood to address Akane. "Your performance really showed the beauty of the kingdom you represent, Lady Akane. As someone who takes interest in breeding, I can tell that your Houndoom is very well raised, especially to have that kind of power as to manipulate the temperature of it's flames. However, you did end up melting my stage a bit, so you might lose some points for that. A very beautiful performance and I thank you for making that Lapras Lounge's very first performance."
Eira then turned to the audience with a broad smile. "Now, shall we bring out our next contestant? Please cheer for Miss Maya!"
Eira sat back down to watch the performance and decided to address what Marcus had said. "They don't always treat me like this. I did request for this to be private, but I did not ask for it to be so elaborate."
In the end she never found a seal... Maya fidgeted and shook as she stepped out on to the stage, Bo following after. She was glad she lived on ice for most her life or she would have long since slipped and fallen on her face. There were so many people! Wasn't this supposed to be a small village? Bullsh*t. But it was far too late to back out now. She ran over the plan in her head, recalled exactly where everything should be, they had briefly practiced, and Bo was in good health. This was as good as it was gonna get.
Bo however looked confident as she strode out on to the dazzling arena standing proud right smack in the middle of the ice. She bleated and looked at Maya with complete confidence.
Maya took a breath and shuddered as she tried to find her voice.
"My name is Maya Reed," She shouted and bowed. Sh*t did her voice crack? "I hope you enjoy our performance." She turned to Bo.
"Bo, Power Gem! Straight up in the air!"
Bo's jewel on her tail began to glow as she wagged it about. A shower of shards, flew from her tail, like broken pieces of starlight hurtling into the icy ceiling.
"Now! Hidden Power, quickly!"
Bo glowed white briefly. She leapt up and fired a white frosty beam into the air chasing the tail of those shooting stars. The beam was faster, and exploded onto the ceiling first, into an explosion of snow that formed a crystalline, frozen chandelier of pointed ice. Within the irridecent spears of layered ice was the captured shimmering gems, glittering and shinning from inside.
"Now light it up!" Maya shouted.
Straight up, Bo fired a blazing rainbow colored signal beam into the chandelier striking it in the center. The ice lit up in burst of bright colors, glowing brightly from every facet, a borealis of light appearing within the hall. Bo ramped it up and the ice burst, small flakes of ice showering from above, catching in Bo's wool and Maya's hair like glitter.
Maya was speechless for a second, gaping and motionless on the stage before collecting herself. "Th-thank you!" She shouted to Eira, and hurried off stage with Bo skipping after.
Eira stood and clapped for the girl's performance. While Eira could tell that Maya had been nervous, she had come out and had performed wonderfully just as she had asked. "Thank you for your performance Maya. That was exactly what I was looking for in a performance in this hall. Not only did you show off your precious Mareep's ability to create glittering pieces of art, but you even fixed my ceiling with it! I must say that I will be keeping that new addition to the ceiling from now on. Now, everyone, please welcome Z to the stage!"
Eira sat down with a small sigh, excited to see what the young boy could do since the other performances just seemed to be getting better and better.
Z walked on stage with Sparky. Z wore his customary cloak and Sparky wore her own version of it. Z threw off his cloak as usual and looked around at the audience.
"Ready Sparky?" asked Z getting a nod from Sparky, "then let's do this!"
Sparky threw off her own cloak in a similar manor to Z and shot a fireball in the air using flamethrower. She then charged up energy in her right claw, making it glow light blue. She then leaped into the air and slammed her fist into the fireball with an uppercut. The fireball exploded and small glittering sparks rained down on the hall like shooting stars. Sparky landed and bowed.
Eira almost seemed disappointed as she stood to address Z once his performance was done. "A spectacular end to a not so spectacular performance. I had given you full reign to do what you wished with as many moves and you needed, so it is a wonder why your performance was so short. I did enjoy the flames and sparks creating such a wonderful sight when compared to the feathers of Sparky, but it just wasn't quite the performance we were all hoping for here. Maybe you'll do better in the battle round?"
Eira smiled apologetically at Z before she turned to the audience to announce the final competitor. "Ladies and gentlemen, closing out the first round performances will be Zandrophin!"
Maya sat, waiting for the rest of the performers to go, fidgeting. She figured Bo did really well in the first part but the next part... Was she correct in hearing that there was a battle portion? She glanced down at Bo who seemed absolutely thrilled and shook ice off her wool.
"Maaaa!" She bleated.
"I know I think we did good," she said. "But we're not done and I have no idea what we should do..." She looked down at Bo and then suddenly... She started to glow. Maya almost fell out of her chair.
"Maaa?" The little mareep suddenly lit up into a bright online of a mareep that suddenly started to waver and change. Just as fast as it started it ended and.
"Flaaaafa!" A newly formed flaaffy bleated, happily.
Zandrophin began walking up to the stage, chuckling to himself.
Going last again, old friend.
Always save the best for last, Sir.
If they don't mind, go join with Marcus and Eira in their box...you'll enjoy the performance from there.
Sir? Are you sure you don't want me down there?
I'll be fine, Mentus...besides...you can't be on stage at the same time Squirt is; one Pokemon at a time.
Mentus hovered over to the box, keeping his distance from Marcus. Zandrophin came to the center of the stage and, in his best stage voice, said:
"Good day, ladies and gentlemen!" He bowed and continued, "My name is Zandrophin; I'm from Saffron City in the Kanto region. I'll keep the introduction short, just know that, everywhere I've gone, my shows leave a lasting impression on my audience. My performance in Celosia had a similar effect; for those of you here that saw that, welcome to another show. I ask now, ladies and gentlemen, that you sit back, relax, and enjoy the show, for this performance will leave a truly lasting impression."
Zandrophin flourished his customized Dive ball and set it down in the center of the stage. He took a few steps back waited a few seconds. Zandrophin snapped his fingers...and the show began.
The Dive ball opened and a large jet of water shot towards the ceiling. Over the next few seconds, the jet shrank in size, revealing Squirt's shell to the audience. Eventually, the jet became a low-pressure stream, only about six inches in length, similar to that of a public fountain. Squirt popped his head out, gave a goofy smile, dismounted the stream by flipping off of it, and bowed to the audience, the water still flowing from the Dive ball.
"Squirt, are you ready?" Zandrophin asked.
"Squirtle!"
"Alright, then. Use Surf, and remember to get the height where we practiced!"
Using the water coming out of the Dive ball, Squirtle generated a large wave, almost a third of the height of the room, and rode atop it. Just as the wave reached its pinnacle, Zandrophin commanded,
"Great work! Now...freeze it!"
Squirt took a deep breath in and, with all of his might, launched a stream of ice at the wave he was standing on. Within a few moments, the wave was frozen solid. To the audience, it must've been rather unsettling, as the ice had formed many jagged areas at the end and sides of the wave.
"Bravo! This looks very good, Squirt...but I think we can make it look better. Wouldn't you agree?"
"Squirt!" Squirt was eagerly awaiting the next part, as he loved this part the best.
"Well, get to it, then; Iron Tail! Remember to keep the shards away from the audience and to maintain control!"
Squirt nodded and his tail took on a metallic glow. He quickly began to chisel the ice, chunks of varying sizes fell all around. The frozen wave slowly began to take on a new shape. It's jagged edges became smooth curves, making it all the more sleek and pleasant to look at. After about a minute, Squirt wiped his brow and stood atop his masterpiece, quite triumphantly:
He had carved the visage of a Lapras out of the wave. Squirt jumped down from the statue as Zandrophin stepped forward to explain. Zandrophin hooked his arm and Squirt landed similar to a bird Pokemon, perched upon his trainer's forearm. Zandrophin said,
"Ladies and gentlemen, what you see before you is my contribution to Lady Eira for her hospitality. This place is called Lapras Lounge, so we decided this would fit nicely. I hope you all will agree."
The pair bowed to the audience. Zandrophin looked at Squirt and said,
"Fine job, old boy. Even if they didn't like it...I was very impressed."
As was I. Well done, Squirt.
The pair turned to face Lady Eira, and their judgement.Zandrophin began walking up to the stage, chuckling to himself.
