Marcus woke up in a huff, Sofa shaking him to get him up. "I told you don't wake me unless it's a matter of life or death, Sofa. Leave me b-" Sofa was pointing out the window and Marcus saw what he was trying to tell him. It was bright out. Meaning sun. Meaning day. Meaning the contest was starting. And they were still in Eira's hut. "Cr*p, cr*p, cr*p, cr*p, cr*p, cr*p, cr*p..." Marcus got up and fumbled around as he cursed at this situation. "Where's Lex?"
The little Wynaut popped his head around the door when he heard his name, "Wy?" "Because we need to get you to that contest hall. Get ready..." Marcus pulled out his ball, pulled Lex back into it and ran out of the hut to get to the hall.....wherever that was.
Maya sighed. "No, Bo it has to go higher. Much higher!" She said, pointing at the ceiling. "It has to reach the top first and much faster, understand?"
"Maaaa!" Bo bleated, prancing about in circles.
Maya shook her head. There were a couple of misfires and some of the ice was chipped and there might be a hole in the wall over there... But it seemed to be coming together.
"We need a finisher though... Right? It needs to be flashy and obnoxious like on TV..." She mused to herself. Everything else seemed like it would work but there needs to be... More. Something bright and...
"Oh! I've got it!" She said, excitedly, sitting up and startling Bo. Maya reached for her paper and pen and scribbled frantically. She was actually getting excited about this.
Damn...looks like we'll just have to do without that last bit of practice...we'll just run him through it mentally, again...I suppose.
There's no problem with that, Sir...Squirt seems to respond better to the visual than the verbal instructions, anyway.
I need to clear some things up first, Mentus...before we get too set in our routine.
He approached Eira and asked,
"If you don't mind my asking, Lady Eira...what are the rules for this performance. Rather, how will this be conducted? Are there limitations on the number of moves we can use? Is using the environment allowed? I'm just trying to ascertain as to whether or not this contest is any different from the contest in Ignacia. I know we get points for Beauty moves, and lose points for Tough moves...but beyond that, I am ignorant of the stipulations."

The Red woman looked to the sky to see almost a white sky. An almost white sky amazed her that even such a bleak and empty sky could make the contest hall shimmer as if made with diamonds and crystals. Her royal gait let everyone know she was important, and many who passed by her ooed and awed. Her shiny black furfrou furred coat kept her warm in this ridiculously cold place. She dreamed already of the sun’s light dancing on her skin, and the smell of the ocean. Not this. This place reeked of nothingness. Akane crumpled her nose in disgust. She ordered her charizard to wait outside, and her guards to make themselves comfortable in the crowds of people. She knew she would be safe, because if anything happened to her here, Celosians would be in an outrage and trample this tiny village.
Akane approached the contest hall. There were no guards lining the walls, nor there to direct anyone anywhere. She grew very irritated until she finally found the entrance to the hall. People asked her to fill in the paperwork, to which she retorted, ”I did not come here on my day off to fill in more paperwork. My royal guard shall do it. If there are any questions, you may differ them to my charizard; wby the way, is in no way opposed to melting this delicate building.” The red queen huffed and continued on her way.
Upon entering the hall, Akane noticed Eira, Z, and Zandrophin. She casually sauntered to them.
”Hello, my old friends.” She always liked to make a big entrance. ”Are you all here to compete?” She noticed a shy little girl hiding under of the hood of her clothing.
”And who, might you be?” Her cruel smile tugged her lips into a smile. She always loved to intimidate, and was made even more so by her travel-sized tiara and royal gown.
Maya looked up from Bo, completely startled. Sh*t, not another one! She thought, eyeing the dress. She adjusted her glasses.
"Um... M-Maya Reed... Pleasure to meet you... Highness?" She replied, taking off her glasses and pretending to wipe a smudge off the lenses with one of her long sleeves. This woman had an intimidating aura about her... Something she could tell even if she didn't wear that tiara, dress or wicked smile. Her intimidation was working well, Maya kept her eyes on that elegant dress. Even Bo looked a little skittish.
Maya opened her mouth to speak. Say something polite or ask her name or try to dismiss the royal woman as politely as possible. Instead she said this:
"Isn't that dress uncomfortable?"
Sh*t She wiped at her glasses a little faster and looked down.
"You may use whatever moves you wish to make your performance as spectacular as possible. I do not care how you get there, so long as I find your performance beautiful and worthy of this hall," Eira explained to Zandrophin before the door opened and Akane walked in as if she owned the place. Eira's breath caught in her throat when the red queen strode in, looking more fitting of the role of queen than she even did. Eira was worried about why Akane was there, was she competing, spectating, or was she there on royal business?
Zandrophin heard someone coming towards the main room of the hall.
Sir...you're not going to believe this, but...
I know, Mentus...I know what's going on. She was supposed to come. You didn't think she'd rely on our report alone, did you? She must see it for herself.
Zandrophin turned on the balls of his feet to face Lady Akane. He dared not beat Eira to greet Akane first...so he decided to greet her in a different way; bowing and without breaking eye contact, he sent another message:
Greetings, Lady Akane...I see you received my message. I'm pleased you could join us.

The red woman laughed so hard on the inside she figured Mentus would be recoiling from the loudness of her inner laughter; the ice queen was blatantly trying to cover her nerves in piles of snow; but it wouldn’t work, or at least, it wouldn’t work with Akane there.
Um... M-Maya Reed... Pleasure to meet you... Highness?...Isn’t that dress uncomfortable? Akane did not even pause after Maya’s question.
“Not particularly. The symbolism meant by it weighs more than the dress does.” She laughed. “But I guess it is a little cold.” Akane eyes flicked to Eira. “I wonder if you’d mind my,” She reached her hand into the folds of her furfrou coat, “warming it up in here.” Akane released Doom out of his dusk ball. Akane’s eyes narrowed accompanied by her smug smile.
“Doom and I have come to compete within your contest halls. As a return favor for your royal presence at Houndoom Hall.” She smiled sweetly, with an ominous underlying tone.
Greetings, Lady Akane...I see you received my message. I'm pleased you could join us.
”Pleasure is mine. You’ve done excellent with your instructions. I thank you. This will be fun. Although I am quite surprised to find you at another contest.”
"Sanity is only an idea made real, to make those who are boring feel better." -Akane
"J-Just please don't melt anything, it is a brand new hall after all and I wouldn't want to have to fix anything just yet," Eira said nervously, giving a weak smile to the firey queen as she fidgeted with her own white coat. "It is our honor to have you come compete, Lady Akane. I'm sure you will give us quite the show with your wonderful Pokemon. If you'll excuse me now, I have to go announce that we will be starting soon."
”Pleasure is mine. You’ve done excellent with your instructions. I thank you. This will be fun. Although I am quite surprised to find you at another contest.”
Zandrophin bowed again. Aloud he said,
"I hope the trip for you wasn't too troublesome. You were better equipped than I was...but that is my own fault. I am still pleased that you are here."
Silently, another message was given:
The show must go on...and as long as there's a show...there must be a showman. Judging by what our host has said, one will be starting quite soon.I must prepare for my act. I still worry about the second half...but at least this time I have a Pokemon that won't destroy anything...or anyone; lucky for them.
As he said this, Zandrophin grinned darkly, chuckling quietly to himself...

Marcus burst through the door, clothes disheveled and breathing heavy. "Am I too la-" Marcus looked around the room and saw the people that were in it, his face twisting into a frustrated position. "Great, beaten by royalty. -sigh- Well, I guess I'll be in the stands then..." Marcus turned to Eira, whom he nearly ran over opening the door. "Thanks for waking me up for the contest. I did tell you I wanted to compete, didn't I?" You already know the answer to that.
"I-I'm sorry, I thought you would wake up on your own and I kinda left extremely early so I thought you wouldn't want to be up that early after your journey to get here," Eira said quickly, trailing off near the end in embarrassment that she hadn't helped him out so he could compete. She thought for a moment before she smiled slightly at him. "Would you like to sit with me to watch the contest? I have my own booth that we can share with our Pokemon and watch from a good angle."
Maya raised an eyebrow at the very high handed way of speaking and went back to her paper of ideas silently, absently combing her fingers through Bo's wool. This woman was clearly royalty in every sense of the word in the way she spoke and moved and dressed. She could understand the comment about the dress carrying more weight as symbolism. The temple had been very adamant about wearing the priestess robes... More of a symbol than practical clothes.
She glanced at the woman's Houndoom. He looked powerful. She watched as the woman intimidated Eira as well. She glanced down at Bo who just blinked owlishly at her. Maya sighed. She was so going to lose.
-sigh- "No, it's fine...I'm just upset I didn't get to compete with Lex. Sure, I'll join you...It'd be nice to finally see a contest that I'm not competing in." Marcus turned to the rest of the group, looking at Akane, he bowed, "Good to see you again, your highness. Glad I get to see your Pokemon in action and not just their intimidating stare. Good luck everyone." Marcus bowed again to the rest of the group and looking specifically at Maya, he said before he left with Eira, "You never know how well you'll do unless you try."
"I wish all of you the best of luck and can't wait to see the splender of your performances," Eira said with a small bob of a curtsy to all of them before she left the room so she could go to her booth. The booth was set in front of the stage and was blocked off from the rest of the audience by a short wall of ice. Fur covered the small throne and chairs that sat around the walled off area and there was plenty of room to move around in. Eira waved to the audience before she sat down in her throne, deciding to give the contestants a few more minutes before she announced the start of the competition.
