Marcus went back into the tea house to see the tea lady arguing with Sofa, him holding his hands up and trying his best to convince her that his friend was coming back. "Look, you need to get your master back here right now, he hasn't paid for his tea. Do. You. Understand? Pay. He need."
"I'm here. And I'm not his master; I'm his trainer and his friend and I'd appreciate it if you didn't insult him again; you're beginning to try my patience. We would like what you serve for breakfast here." Marcus glanced in the direction of zandrophin, feeling a slight sensation best described as what tv static feels like.
Don't start this now. I had started to think you'd learned. And like that the static stopped.
I thought I told you not to do anything. Now he'll be waiting for it.
Sorry, Sir...curiosity got the better of me...I had to try. Won't happen again.
See that it doesn't; we've still got a job to do.
Zandrophin took one more sip from his tea as the others returned. Unlike the last time, Zandrophin's eyes were locked on Marcus. There was no hostility in his gaze, just observation. He placed the cup down and said,
"Welcome back. I'm pleased I don't have to dine alone."
I see you almost made things worse yet again, old boy...bravi tutti for getting her to come back.
He cleared his throat before continuing,
"In response to your earlier comment, Marcus, I did not come here to exploit anyone. I came here to hire a guide, or to meet up with a group of like-minded individuals and take on the weather to that mysterious Silvertree Village. I've seen Lady Eira and how she acts...and I wondered 'how does one such as her run a village?' I figured the best way to find that out was to see for myself."
He paused for a second...he could see that Marcus was agitated purely by him being there.
"Oh, come now...let's not be sour; let us enjoy this meal as colleagues in the world of Pokemon."

Marcus sat at his table again, but this time sitting perpendicular to both tables. "I find it hard to believe that you can't have Mentus there take you in the blink of an eye, but alright. If you say so. So Maya; is there anything else that you can go on to find your aunt? I'm actually pretty interested, and if we can help you find her once we're there, I'd like to be of assistance."
Marcus took another sip of his tea as he closed his eyes, letting him hear what he wanted him to. So is it that you can't teleport there, or just that you don't want to? And if it's that you don't want to, why choose a guide? Does he think you can't make it through Eirlys with your help? And not letting him hear what he didn't want him to. I wonder just what their relationship is: Partner or willing underling? or maybe obedient slave?
Maya sat at the table, almost able to feel the tension between these two. She could also tell that this abra had a special connection of sorts to his trainer. She no longer had any tea to conveniently distract herself with so she opted to stare at the tatami mats and fluff Bo's wool. She was almost startled when Marcus directed a question at her.
"O-oh my aunt? Well the last name Reed... The same dark skin color as me I assume... Maybe..." Maya wracked her brain for any other information that she could tell them. That she was comfortable telling anyway. She nervously fiddled with her braid.
"Maaareeee!" Bo bleated, bonking her head against her hand. "Oh and she gave Bo to me a very long time ago via mail. I almost forgot she existed till they shoved the paperwork into my hands... But I'm afraid that's the best I can do for you."
Taking another sip of his tea, Marcus sat with a puzzled face, "Hmmm...that does seem difficult to go off of. I can see why you've been having trouble. Well, have you checked this town yet? It does snow down here in the winter and like I said, nobody knows about Silvertree. The only reason the two of us know about it is the same person told us. It'd be a shame if you went all the way up there through all that danger and she was here the whole time."
Right then, the tea lady came back with the food. Sofa was so happy, his mouth was nearly dripping, but when the lady put down their plates, there was a much smaller portion than what Sofa was expecting. Whimpering, Sofa turned to the lady begging for more. "Hey, don't look at me, it's up to your Trainer. He's the one paying the bill."
Sofa whipped his head down to Marcus, his face staying in the same whimpering position, "Feed him 'til he's full." Marcus pulled out a large stack of Poke and placed it on the table. Eyes wide, the tea lady rushed back to get more food. Reaching over and petting Lex's head, "And that goes for this little guy too. You must be starving, having just hatched." Sofa looked surprised at his friend, with a face that practically said, "Really?"
"Well, we weren't going to be doing anything with the prize money anyway, were we? We've been living off of berries and campfires for the past 5 days. And dad wouldn't let me put it into the farm; he said it had to be for our adventure, remember? So I figure, why not use it when we can? If we're going to get a nice, cooked meal, we might as well enjoy it." "Vig...-sniffle sniffle- Vigoroth..." "You're welcome, buddy." Marcus said as he cracked his hard boiled egg open.
"There is a reason for my refusing to teleport at this time. We only have a rough idea as to where the village is. From what I hear, if we were to guess and teleport somewhere, we could end up on the edge of a cliff, or over it. Besides getting a guide will help us all. I'm willing to share the service he provides, and I'll cover the entire thing. Call it a friendly gesture to a gallant opponent. In fact, I propose a toast to you, Master Marcus...to your well-deserved victory and perhaps to one more."
If you don't try anything cute, we won't have any problems...that I can assure you. Keep your monkey on a leash, and I'll keep Mentus out of your head. Drink up.
When the food arrived, Zandrophin noted that his portion was also very small. He frowned slightly at this, but shrugged his shoulders and waited on the others to receive their food, sipping his tea quietly.

"I checked very briefly. Very. However this town is very small and the one fisherman I asked said he had never heard of a Reed nor had anyone moved in the last year or two." She said and sighed and plucked at Bo's wool some more. Dororo merely dozed on her shoulder, making little noises as he napped.
Maya frowned at their banter. These two like to talk she thought. She wasn't in the mood to order another cup of tea or talk so she merely occupied herself with things such as checking her bag. Scarf, gloves, heavy parka, hand warmers, jacket, map, a few changes of clothes, a few empty assorted pokeballs, a few cleanse tags and a spell tag... She stuffed those a little bit further down in her bag. How did she manage to fit all this in here again?
She pulled out the map and studied it carefully, looking at the northern area. The map was mostly detailed on Celosia but everywhere else was almost nonexistent, very little else known about other places...
"You said you kind of have an idea on where it is?" Maya asked, referring to both of them. She placed the map on the table, avoiding the food. "Any guesses as to the general area?" If they could get close then maybe...
"Yeah, yeah; whatever," Marcus rolled his eyes as he ironically raised his glass to himself and took a sip; Lex raising his fork high for his trainer, "that's if we can find a guide, there couldn't be more than 50 people that know this place, and even less that could take us there."
Marcus turned to Maya and her map, "See, I already said that no two maps of the place are the same, I've checked quite a few before leaving home, so I doubt we'd be able to chart it exactly. Unless the person who made this was riding Rayquaza, we'll need to adjust for large human error. Aside from that, our resident of Silvertree said it was north of a lake, in the east and in a forest. This map has nothing like that for Eirlys, but it does have a large lake, so I'm willing to bet this map maker knew of the lake and just assumed there was nothing but wasteland beyond. Some mapmakers even put monsters past that point..."
Zandrophin studied this map that Maya had presented.
Primitive...to say the least.
It's these small villages, Sir...they don't have the best cartographers.
He had to admit, Marcus' quick assessment of the map slightly impressed him. The boy wasn't too great at reading people, but he locked that map away almost instantly.
"Alright," Zandrophin said, "we have the map...and our landmark: that large lake. So we head towards the lake, then head north of it, all while attempting to find this forest, correct? Doesn't sound too horrible."
Do not fight for a cause or for what you believe in: Fight for yourself, because who you are rarely changes. Zandrophin
"No, it doesn't, but I've seen this lake change size, shape and position entirely over different maps. moving from here to here." Marcus drew with his finger from where this map said the lake was to somewhere closer to the middle of the area, not overlapping each other in the least. "The best bet I think we have is to follow the trails of the guides from Silvertree back to the town, wherever that may be." Turning to his Vigoroth, Marcus smiled, "If we lose sight of the trail, we have Sofa here to guide us back on it with his nose."
Looking back at zandrophin, Marcus's face darkened a bit, And I never said that you were coming along...
Slightly agitated by Marcus' comment, Zandrophin took a second to regain total control of his emotions.
Come now, lad. If you run into one of those monsters you mentioned earlier...you'll need my help. Monsters can be subdued if we work together. If nothing else, we can use Calm Mind to provide a barrier to prevent any wild Pokemon from attacking us.
I AM going to Silvertree. Wheter or not I get you there or you freeze to death matters not to me...I'll be outside, awaiting your decision.
"Well," Zandrophin said, standing, after laying a few Poke on the table for payment, "this has been fun...but we really should get a move on. Miss Maya, I'll be waiting outside, if you're ready to go."
He turned to Marcus and continued,
"If you would like to accompany me, you may come along as well."
As he left, Zandrophin slipped on his coat, securing Mentus inside. As he walked through the door, he looked back over his shoulder at Marcus. I know you still want closure for past events...you won't get it if you die out there.
...Remember that.
Do not fight for a cause or for what you believe in: Fight for yourself, because who you are rarely changes. Zandrophin
Maya frowned but let them talk it out as she looked at the map. There were other ways for her to seek out this village, methods she wasn't entirely comfortable with doing, so of this Vigoroth could find it...
"Sounds like a plan... I guess..." She said looking between the two guys again. This seemed like flimsy plan but at least it was best to have a flimsy plan not by yourself. Dororo began to stir slightly. "Sadly this was the best map I could find. Everywhere else outside of this region is largely blank."
She watched Zandrophin leave with a blank face. A storm was most certainly brewing between these two far worse than any blizzard they could come across.
"Should you...?" She questioned to Marcus, jabbing a thumb at the exit he just left through.
"No...probably not. But I don't really have a choice. I suggest you go asking around more for your aunt. She may have moved here earlier than a few years ago and asking one guy isn't enough to be sure. Don't worry, I won't leave without you." Marcus stood up and pulled out a Pokeball.
"Hey little guy. This is a Pokeball. It's where you'll be staying a lot of the time. Think of it like a nice resting room. You're gonna need to stay in here for a while okay?" Lex nodded happily, his perpetual grin shining as always as he was pulled into the ball. Marcus glanced over to Sofa, his claws on his stomach, his plate empty. "Had your fill?" Nodding happily, Sofa gave Marcus a satisfied grin. "Good, go walking around with Maya as she asks around for information on her aunt." "VIG-" Sofa started to point outside at zan, "No buts, get to know the people you're going to be traveling with." He turned towards Maya, "If that's okay with you..."
She stood and frowned. It was a good idea she had to admit. Can't see the forest the trees after all. She thought. Gotta stay on track. Gotta find god d*mn aunt what's-her-name...
"Fair enough that was the original plan anyway," Maya said and looked down at Sofa with a small smile. "I don't mind at all. So long as he doesn't mind either."
She took out Bo's pokeball and tapped it on her head to put her back. It was far easier to take care and keep track of two rather than three. She made her way out.
As they left, Sofa stopped in front of the tea lady, she stood there slightly scared about what he's going to do to her. Sofa stood there for a short while, then bowed to her respectably, waving as he left. "Vigoroth..." As she stood confused, Marcus glided up to her, putting Poke in her hand. "Thank you for the food, it was very good." As he was saying this, he kept putting individual bills on top of each other. "I shall pay you what we owe." And stopping his paying. "And nothing more."
Walking outside, Marcus turned his head right and saw the duo leaning against the wall. Standing still where he first left the tea house, Marcus spoke softly, "So you really want me to believe you're going to give me closure? You must think I'm more an idiot than I thought you did."
