"Ah, Snowpoint. Lovely town...people are a bit standoffish, though...not very accepting of strangers," Zandrophin trailed off a bit, still trying to keep the conversation going, "I am going to guess that, you being from a rather cold area, you are planning on going to Eirlys? I heard there was a contest going on up there...figured I'd check it out...I'm not much for the battle scene; a showman at heart, you understand."
Zandrophin glanced over at Marcus. Chuckling, he continued,
"You plan on going with this guy? I can tell you from experience...he can get irritated easily, sometimes. However, if you want somebody who'll watch out for you and do just about anything to make sure you make it to where you're going, you couldn't have picked anybody better."

Do not fight for a cause or for what you believe in: Fight for yourself, because who you are rarely changes. Zandrophin
Maya frowned, not sure if she should be insulted by his comment or nod and agree. "That's what happens when you live in a blizzard for most of your life. Any strangers that wander up there are usually not there for touring." Her face fell slightly. "The last visitor to my home city was not very kind to us."
"Froak..." Dororo nuzzled against Maya with a sad croak.
"And yes I'm... Looking for someone." She glanced over at Marcus a little confused, sensing something between these two, that clearly knew each other. She sipped at her tea warily, looking between the two.
Marcus couldn't believe his eyes...You have got to be kidding me. Sofa had noticed the smell before the man entered the building, but didn't know how to react, looking to his friend for guidance. Holding up his hand, Marcus let Sofa know they should wait before jumping to any conclusions.
As zandrophin attempted to lay on the charm, Marcus inwardly chuckled at him falling flat on his face, at least until he referenced Marcus directly, then a tight snarl started to curl his upper lip. As quickly as possible, he uncurled it and put on a smile as he turned around to address his acquaintances, "And what brings you to these parts, Zandrophin? Did your thumbs start itching when you realized there were some controllable small town folk that you haven't swindled out of house and home yet?"
Turning to Maya, Marcus slightly frowned, "I'm sorry, but I don't think it would be a good idea for you to come with me." At this, Sofa spoke out, "Vigoroth! Vig vigor." "I can't promise her safety, Sofa. I can't even promise ours, how am I supposed to look after her? We don't now exactly where we're going, just that it's near a lake, to the east and it's in a forest. So we're going to ask around for directions and basically just head north into a blizzard until we find the one village in all of Eirlys. It sounds like we're going out there to die. Do you want to subject her to that? She's inexperienced in battling and her Pokemon haven't been through a lot of fights, what if a Sealeo herd attacks us? Do you really think you could defend both of us while fighting off freezing to death?" To this, Sofa bowed his head.
"I'm sorry, but if you were to go with me, you'd have to have more experience as a trainer, because I can't promise your safety if you come with us. My friend said that members of her village come down every now and then to guide people and rescue lost explorers, you might look into that. To be honest, you'd have more luck convincing this guy to teleport you there than if you headed up with us."
She nearly scowled. This is what happens when you try and be social or ask for help. They pass you off to the next person. She should have known better. Maya may have been inexperience as a battler but that didn't mean she didn't know what she was doing, as far as taking care of herself anyway. The cold, inhospitable weather and dangerous Pokemon were not unfamiliar to her. Not by a long shot.
"Thank you for your concern but perhaps you're right. My Pokemon and I would be too much of a burden to you." She kept her voice even and neutral as she downed the last of her tea, put her money on the table, and stood. She gathered up her map and bag as Dororo made concerned croaking sounds and Bo bleated happily unaware of anything.
"Good luck on your trip, " she said to Marcus cooly and then looked at Zandrophin. "I apologize for my rudeness." She bowed awkwardly. "Perhaps I will see you there." She proceeded to leave, Pokemon following after.
"Wait, I didn't mean... -sigh- This is what I get for trying to think of others.." Marcus got up and ran after Maya. As he went off, he pointed at Sofa, "You stay here so they don't think we ran off without paying." Pointing at Lex, "You, follow me." Smiling big, Lex hopped after Marcus playfully as they tried to catch up to Maya.
"WAIT! Hey, wait." Marcus ran up to catch the girl. "Look, I'm sorry about insulting you. Just wait for a second, okay?"
Maya stopped. She almost gave a long chain of choice swear words but Dororo elbowed her in the leg. She took a deep breath and turned back towards Marcus.
"I apologize for my outburst. It's just..." She huffed. "I'm more comfortable by myself usually... And I am poor in socializing. It would likely be better if I travel alone after all. I don't like when things don't go as planned."
"I don't really feel comfortable with you going out there by yourself either. I didn't say those things trying to insult you. Even if you have experience with cold weather, people die every year thinking they can handle the hazards up there because they used to live in the cold. There are rolling herds of Piloswine going across the tundra, no 2 maps of the area are the same and the fact that no one knows about Silvertree village despite it being there for over half a decade should tell you something. Don't go expecting it to be easy. That's how people die. I have a Pokemon that I've been with for 10 years and I'm afraid for our safety. Don't put your and your Pokemon's lives at risk because of an assumption or because I insulted your ability to survive in the cold."
Lex caught up with Marcus and saw Dororo for the first time, fascinated by the blue frog with the same color as him. Leaning to his side, Lex waved his long arm happily at the Froakie from behind Marcus' leg.
Maya narrowed her eyes at him. "I've sat outside in a blizzard in a t-shirt and jeans with only my mareep. Dororo stays fairly safe in a pokeball and a thermal jacket. And I wasn't asking for a d** n body guard. I was asking for a traveling companion." She took a deep breath and sighed. "I don't need to be told its dangerous. Trust me I know. But I have to go."
Dororo looked at the baby Lex and waved back in some confusion before approaching it. "Froak," he said, as if saying hi.
Lex bounced at making a new friend, tapping softly all over Dororo with his arms, "Wy!" he marveled at how his skin felt, his own body being a thick balloon-like substance. Marcus looked down at the two of them and sighed.
"I wasn't...I don't feel comfortable-how do I put this? I don't think you could make it there alone. I'm reluctant to think I could either, I'm banking on my Vigoroth's amazing smelling to guide us there. That on top of the wild Pokemon that claim that land as their own; I doubt that there are no Beartics in the forests of Eirlys, I think we have our work cut out for us, even if it wasn't cold as a Vanilluxe up there. So yes, I would see myself as your bodyguard because if something were to happen, I'd want to protect you, and I don't know if I could." Marcus paused and twisted his face. "And I've insulted you again. Can we go back a bit? Why do you need to go to Silvertree?"
"I'm looking for someone important. My aunt. I'm supposed to live with her and..." She frowned and shook her head. "Well the rest isn't important. But... I've had a hard time finding her. She isn't where she was supposed to be, I don't know her name or how she looks and all I have to go on is our last name Reed and the chance that she is somewhere cold and..." She muttered a string of curses to herself and ran her hand through her dark thick braid. She was getting worked up again. She took a deep breath.
"Point is I need to find her. It's very important. It's very little to go off of but I have no other choice."
Dororo was a little wary of the baby Pokemon at first before happily running his webbed hands over Lex, poking at the bouncy texture of his skin.
Lex's body wobbled at the poke, he paused, and then hugged Dororo tight, squeezing him. "Wynaut."
"Alright. You don't know where she, who she is, what she looks like or that she even knows you're looking for her; but you know her last name and that she likes the cold...and this is the best chance you have at finding her." Shaking his head, Marcus looked down, put his hands on his hips and took a deep breath. "Do you need to find her? You just said you've no problem of taking care of yourself and you seem to do well enough, you've got money to buy tea." Marcus attempted to smile, but it came out as a sad sort of half smile. "You're my age, and we're much older than kids who go live on their own for their Pokemon journey."
Looking up at the sky, Marcus stared at the clouds as they rolled by, he let out a low sigh. "Too much drama...would you please come with me to Silvertree? If you're going to go whether you're with me or not, I'd prefer it be with me."
Hearing this, Lex bounced up and down excitedly, still holding Dororo.
"F-Froak!" Dororo croaked as Lex latched onto him and fell over. He visibly sighed and accepted the Pokemon clinging to him.
Maya tried a smile back but it came out thin.
"There are other reasons I need to find her," she said, looking done at Dororo and Lex with a warmer smile. "Not just a matter of needing a guardian..." She gave a rueful chuckle. "If only drama was the least of my problems."
She sighed. "It is far less stupid than having go without another person... I will. But you will treat me as a traveling partner and companion. Not your obligation or duty. Understood?" She looked at the two Pokemon and Bo who watched with interest. "I get the feeling he is okay with traveling together..." She smiled again.
"Yeah, Lex, let him go." Wagging his tail sadly, Lex let go of Dororo, patting him on the head. "Alright, so shall we head back into the tea house, I've yet to pay for my tea and haven't had the chance to eat any breakfast yet. I'll need to order for Sofa so he doesn't freak out from hunger." -sigh- What did I just do? I'm not sure about this having her along, but if she's going to go there anyway, it's better that she doesn't go by herself...why do these things happen to me? It's like I put myself into these situations. And now I'm about to have to deal with another situation back in the tea house....
Zandrophin couldn't help but scoff at what he just witnessed. He sat back and sipped his chamomile tea contentedly.
No matter how hard he tries, old friend, it always leads to the same outcome...massive amounts of backpedaling.
Very true, Sir...he expends so much energy just to mess up...I'm beginning to wonder if it's a character trait...but he's blocking me from looking into things like that.
Zandrophin looked at Sofa...at least that's what he thought was the name of this grizzly ape sitting across from him, nose flaring, as usual. He had to leave his muscle behind, too...great...this creature makes me uncomfortable.
They are coming back, I believe, Sir...he may have actually succeeded this time.
Another scoff.
Bravo to him....one out of....three, I believe?

"Fine," she agreed picking Dororo up, where he perched on her shoulder. "Oh you left um... Zandrophin there..." She sensed some... Troubles between those two. Zandrophin was definitely a strange man... She could tell. Was this a good idea? She chewed at her lip nervously. Regardless of whether it was good or not it had to be done. No matter the sh*t she would got through. She sighed for the umpteenth time. Maya felt like a train running off a track and into the ground. This plan better work... She thought.
She headed back towards the tea house Bo following cheerfully with the promise of more cake. Dororo looked down at Lex and waved again. She stepped up into the tea house again.
