Eira stood on her porch once again, ready for the crowd of people that would be celebrating tonight after the contest that had just occurred. She was hoping to see all of the competitors tonight in hopes of getting to know those she didn't know better, but especially she wished to see Akane since it had been a while since they had last seen each other. The events of Hurricane Isle still haunted Eira and she wondered if they did Akane as well, though she expected the hardened queen was fine after their last encounter at Akane's own contest.
Walrein sat proudly beside his partner, waiting for her cue to start up the opening of the festival when their guests arrived.
Mariko sighed as she waited for the festival to start. She was slightly tired due to the cold, but she knew that it was a tad too early to go to sleep just yet. That and she really didn’t have a place to stay here for the night. She was contemplating how she could rectify that problem with her plan, and was currently coming up blank on solutions. Looking up, she watched as Celeste and Luka, who had surprisingly both evolved right as they, Mariko, and Snowdrop had begun to step foot outside of the contest hall, flew around trying to get used to their new forms, and, in Luka’s case, new typing. The two seemed to be having a bit of confusion with their new wingspans and lift since they bumbled about. This made Mariko give a soft smile and a quiet giggle at their expense. She then looked down at where she had placed Snowdrop on the ground, and watched the baby Pokemon throw snow in the air and then dance around in until it had all fallen back down before she repeated the process. The sight was adorable, and Snowdrop seemed to appreciate being in her element of type. Giving another smile at the baby Pokemon, she moved her gaze to neutral ground and watched the scenery around her, waiting for the festival to finally open.
Eira noticed one of her contestants coming into view and had to smile at how adorable the little baby Smoochum was acting. That little one was a true gem to Eira and she hoped that her trainer would bring her back for contests in the future. Eira sighed in longing, her love of baby Pokemon quite clear in the way she watched the Smoochum fondly. She knew that Grace had just evolved and that Toddle was still quite young himself, but Eira couldn't help but to feel like she wanted yet another baby to add to her little dysfunctional family.
A festival huh…? That seemed like a very interesting way to end a contest, though he really didn't feel like really running through the stalls as much as people watching. Who knows, there might be some suckers amongst the crowd he could prank. Shard had been keeping a tighter hold on his prankster mentality lately which made him feel out of sorts. Looking around, he watched the venders who were still setting up their stalls, before he looked to his side and watched Mistletoe prance around in the snow that covered the ground, obviously happy to be in her season’s precipitation of choice. She had used Camouflage earlier, and so the cold didn’t seem to bug her as much as would if she was still her normal grass typing. Shard on the other hand…. Maleko glanced down at his best friend who was nestled in his arms, shivering and glaring once more at the snow on the ground as though it would go away if he did so. “S-Still too cold for you buddy?” The question was rhetorical but boy did it earn him the death glare of the century. Sighing, Maleko tried to think of something that could possibly distract his friend from his situation. Maybe when the festival was going on, he could slip away without being noticed and play his flute some?
Walrein was growing antsy at Eira's side, wanting to get the festival started, but knowing that his human was waiting for all of her guests to arrive so they could all see the opening. Walrein grumbled slightly as he hunkered down to wait, feeling like it will be a long while before he would be told to start things up. Eira glanced down at him for a moment before her eyes scanned the slowly growing crowd and caught sight of yet another of her contestants. He seemed to be freezing along with his little partner, so Eira removed her fur coat and draped it across Walrein's back with a murmur to deliver the coat to the freezing boy. Walrein nodded and slid himself off of the porch so he could go to Maleko, bumping lightly into the boy to get his attention.
Z walked into the festival grounds with his pokemon at his side. Most of them were wearing warm pokemon clothes to protect them from the elements, but Sparky and Tsurara didn't need such protection and as such abstained. They looked around at the events that were being featured and they decided to visit eira and then go and enjoy themselves. As they walked up, Scorpio walked ahead to say hi to his not-so-little sister figure.
Grace hurried forward at the sight of Scorpio, knocking into Eira and nearly tripping in the process since she was still getting used to her new body. Eira straightened herself and the gown she was in before smiling warmly at Z. "Good evening Z, everyone. I see there are several Pokemon here that I am not familiar with, as you are not familiar with a few of my new companions."
Toddle poked his head out of Eira's large and warm sleeves to wave hi to Z while a Vivillon with sparkling white wings that seemed to give off shards of ice came fluttering down from a tree to greet Z by landing on his head.
"I'd like to formally introduce, Tsurara and Volt," said Z as he motioned to his newest teammates, "I met them recently and they had their debut in your contest earlier. Tsurara has quite a bit of skill with her ice and Volt is filled with raw power, so I'm sure they will be great for gym battles. I'm glad you liked my performance. Tsurara has been practicing her sculpting for a while now to get it just right."
"She's incredibly skilled at it. I was approached by a few of the sculptors we have here wondering if she would like to work with them some to swap skills," Eira said, smiling thoughtfully as she glanced at the lovely Ice type. It was a serious offer for lessons, but she had a feeling Z wouldn't want to stick around long enough for Tsurara to have them. "This little one is Toddle and the one attacking your hair is my Flurry. I apologize for her, she likes to make nests in hair for some reason."
Z chuckled, "as long as she doesn't lay any eggs in my hair. And I think I can stick around for Tsurara to get a few lessons from the masters here. I'm sure she would love to refine her technique more. It might even help her to get better in gym battles as well. I won't be able to stick around for too long though, I have to get to setting up for a special event that is coming up. Feel free to drop by and visit."
"I would love to if things settle down here enough," Eira said, motioning for Flurry to come back to her. The large Vivillon fluttered its wings to take off, sprinkling Z with her ice like scales as she swooped around to land atop of her trainer. "And I'm sure my Ele would love some company with creating new sculptures. She's a bit bored now of all of the humans she has been working with, so having a Pokemon come in to work with her would hopefully make her enjoy doing art once again."
"Who is ele?" asked Z. He didn't recall any one of her pokemon with that name, and he wasn't aware of a pokemon named Ele that she owned. He brushed the scales out of his hair and looked around. Scorpio was having fun playing with grace, *you really have grown big and strong. I won't be able to toss you around anymore. Maybe one day we can have a real battle and find out just how strong you've become.*
"That's right, you never got to meet Ele and the others while we were on the island," Eira said thoughtfully, thinking back to that massive battle that sent a chill down her spine. She then smiled at the thought of the friend she had made that day while fighting Lugia. "Ele is an Articuno who helped myself, Zandrophin, and Lady Akane in our fight against Lugia. She took a liking to me and has stuck around ever since even if she wasn't really supposed to."
*Battle? Like Papa and Uncle do?* Grace wondered, confused at what Scorpio was talking about, but knowing that Walrein and Meta often argued with each other. That's what battle meant, right?
A Walrein with a coat on it's back? He could not be more confused. Staring at the Pokemon, he tried to figure out what it was trying to get him to understand, and, seemed to be failing miserably. Where did the coat even come from? Confused he took the coat with a small unsure nod of acceptance, not sure what else to do at the moment. Shard, on the other hand, seemed to be looking at the coat with eyes that showed uncertainty at the sudden appearance, but not a single complaint since he saw it as a thing he could warm himself up with. Motioning to the coat, Shard made his intent clear to Maleko, who, upon realizing what Shard wanted, moved the coat over his arms in such a way that the Snivy was rested under it and could start warming up. Maleko, himself, could deal with the cold, his best friend would always come first. Giving a small smile as Shard snuggled into his hold, and his new heat source, Maleko continued to play the waiting game for the festival to start.
Walrein made a quiet wail of approval in response to Maleko putting on the coat so he could warm himself and his companion. Walrein knew after many years in these icy lands that Grass types tended to freeze rather quickly if they did not have an Ice typing to aid them get acclimated. He looked directly at the playing Mistletoe to address her while the others got warm. *Make sure your tiny human stays warm. My Eira gave up her own coat for him to wear, so make sure he stays in it.*
