"Don't worry about it," said Z as Axew hung off his hand, "dang it, let go of my finger Axew." Axew flipped himself back onto Z's shoulder. "better." Axew huffed and turned away. "if you're going to hold a grudge, I might not cook you dinner." immediately axew cuddled up to Z "thought so."
"Okay Spheal, be careful about where you aim this next one," Eira warned her partner as the ball of ice became big enough to launch. Spheal nodded and looked focused as he released the second Ice ball into the room. The ball of ice hit the wall opposite of them and bounced off only to land on Marcus.
Z chuckled a bit. "I think you need to work on your aim a bit more, but it looks like a powerful attack." "Axew." "Yes, I know you dislike ice because of your type, but it was cool." "Xew," "Yes I know. Bad pun."
"AHHH!!! COLD!" The Ice ball broke up into snow on Marcus' body. Sofa remained right where he was, unphased by the sudden weather change. Marcus shook off the snow covering him.
"Trying to sleep here!" -sigh- "It was dancing sitrus berries too, my favorite."
He went back to lay on Sofa's back only to find the snow still covering him.
"I'm really sorry! We really don't have a lot of practice with this move," Eira said quickly, looking down at Spheal and trying to decided whether or not she should risk using the move once more. "I think we should be good with a level 3 Ice ball, Spheal. There's no need to charge it up any more."
"what do you mean by 'level three?'" asked Z, "can you control the power and intensity on your attacks?" Z started to wonder about whether controlling the power output of Axew's attacks could help in battles and contests. 'this could be what we need to make a good show.'
"Nono, it's fine. You keep practicing." Sofa chuckled under his breath. "What? You think I don't know what I'm talking about?" Marcus looks over at Eira and her Spheal. "Trust me, if they went all out, we'd have a run for our money."
It's fine. All that really matters, I guess, is how that Spheal does. hmph.
Marcus got a twisted look on his face as he watched Eira's confidence drop yet again.
"No, no, it's not like we can control it," Eira was quick to explain to Z, looking down at Spheal as the young Pokemon grew bored and began rolling round on the floor. "The thing is, the more you use Ice ball, the stronger it becomes. If you use it, say, five times in a row, it's can become as powerful as moves like Hyper Beam. The only down side is that with each consecutive use it becomes harder and harder to control."
Marcus stood up, his pillow now a wet ball of fur. His legs were wobbly and weak, but he was used to the feeling and quickly adjusted.
"You're right, maybe three is high enough. safer to have a better chance to be accurate with your move than be more explosive, especially when the explosiveness could be on the judge." Marcus said jokingly.
"Oh, I see," said Z. 'this is still an interesting thought. If we could control the intensity of our attacks then we could pull off some amazing techniques.' "Axew, I want you to use dragon claw and cut this coin in half!" Z held up a coin. "You need to control it though." "AXEW!" said axew as he attacked and destroyed the coin. "Let's try again."
We can't use any other moves or all of that work will have been for nothing once the competition starts. Eira looked down at her partner as he rolled round on the ground as if he didn't have a care in the world. She looked at Marcus after watching Spheal. "What about you and Sofa? What are you doing for the competition?"
"Well, I have a few ideas, but one really stuck out to me. Lets just say it'll be a combination of moves and will involve a lot more action than you'd think Sofa's capable of."
Marcus winked at Eira playfully.
"I like a good surprise and I hate spoiling it before it has a chance to reach its climax."
Eira couldn't help but to smile a little at him. Who knew that interacting with humans could be fun, especially when none of them expected her to act like a queen. She would have to travel to this country more often. "I can't even have a little bit of a hint of what moves you might use? It's only fair since you know I'm going to be using Ice ball."
Z and axew continued to work on the control of Axew's dragon claw and continued to destroy, coins, pebbles, and some ice pieces. "Axew!" "Don't worry," said Z, "we'll keep working at it!" "Axew!" make that, coins, pebbles, ice pieces, and an apple.
"Well, that's not my fault that you hit me with it. If I had stayed asleep, I'd never have known." Marcus smiled. It was fun messing with Eira.
"But I guess I could let you know one of the moves I'm going to use. A long while ago, while traveling through Petalburg woods with Sofa on my back, I found a weird disk just laying in the bushes. I looked around and saw a man with bright bright blue hair walking away. I called out to him, but he didn't hear me. It looked like a TM, but it wasn't like any TM I'd ever seen before. It turned out to be Mega Kick. We practiced that move over and over all summer..." The smile of nostalgia dropped from Marcus' face as he remembered what happened later that year.
Fire and lightning...
"I-uhhh....but that's all you're gonna get, okay?" He put on the best smile he could.
