Eira was taken aback by the new trainer's sudden round of questioning, causing her to squeeze onto Spheal for comfort. "I-I'm Eira and I am entering with my Spheal."
Eira looked down at Spheal to avoid talking directly to Z. "I am from Silvertree Village in the north. W-Where are you from?"
Z shrugged, "I'm from some small town in the Celosia Kingdom. It's not that well known." Z scratched Axew's head causing him to lean into his hand. "I'm entering Axew here. It's our first contest and we hope to do well here. We're here to try our best, and win or lose we'll have gained experience about the real world." "Axew!" said Axew, pumping it's little arm.
"That's a good outlook for a little boy to have," Eira said quietly, smiling slightly at Z. "I've never seen an Axew before. Do you know what region they originated from?"
"According to my parents, they're from the Unova region," said Z, "but this little guy came from my parent's Haxorus." Axew promptly bit Z's finger. "OW! Hey, I know you don't like to be called little, but it's the truth so what can I do about it?" "Ax Axew." "What do I call you then?" asked Z, "Axew the great?" Axew nodded. "I was being sarcastic," deadpanned Z.
Eira's smile brightened at their interaction as she hugged Spheal. It was strange that she was enjoying the company of humans, but she guess that it was because she was in a different land once again. "You two have a great relationship. How long have the two of you been partners?"
"About three years now," said Z, "I met axew on my 10th birthday and we started on this journey together. At first he wanted nothing to do with me, but I won him over." "Axew," said Axew. "Yes, my cooking deserves some credit," admitted Z, "but that wasn't all that made you like me."
"Have you traveled all around Asemon?" Eira asked in wonder, having never left Silvertree until coming here for this contest. "Or have you stayed in this kingdom?"
"I've just started my journey," said Z, "so I haven't made it out of the kingdom just yet. But I will one day. Axew and I will explore the world and meed loads of new pokemon and trainers and become the best team we can be." "Axew" said Axew, pumping his fist. "You said it," said Z
"what is your home like?" asked Z, "is it a nice place to live?" Z shifted his weight again and Axew climbed onto his head. "What region is it in?" "Axew?" asked axew. "Hey, no personal questions like that," said Z to Axew.
Akane twirled her hair around her long finger. A cruel smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. She watched as they all discussed routine ideas, pokemon, and other things. They were getting buddy buddy; not that it mattered to the red-haired queen. She leaned over to her guard again,
"They have absolutely no idea what's in store for them. The stage is set. I cannot wait to reveal what's waiting for them behind those curtains. I have studied contests for many years as you know. This will throw them all for a loop. Their skills will be put to the test for sure."
She giggled and her guard snickered at the inside joke. The red lady shifted in her chair, anxious to see whom the fourth contestant would be. She looked over again. The contestants were already growing on her. She would feel proud to award any of them with the badge, but alas, only one person gets to have one of her coveted badges.
"Sanity is only an idea made real, to make those who are boring feel better." -Akane
Images of fire and lightning flash through darkness. Marcus' mother is standing beside her Wobbuffet smiling, suddenly she's gone. A nine-year-old Marcus is running after her, crying for her to come back.
"MOM! Please don't leave! I need you..."
More images of lightning and fire; a shadowy figure of a humanoid dragon stands with gold flashing eyes, looming over the young Marcus. He curls into a ball, unable to do anything, sobbing.
"Please...don't hurt me. I just want my mom."
"AHH!" Marcus wakes up in the stadium suddenly very awake. "How did I get from Occa berries to that?" Sofa looked at him concerned. "Yeah...it happened again. Took longer to get there this time. there was something new at the end...I can't quite remember it....."
Marcus looked over to the Hall entrance to see his two new acquaintances walking back talking to each other.
Akane was snapped out of her dosing at a sharp scream from her contestants. She immediately sent her guards to the source to check up on the contestant and provide any necessary accommodations. The guards returned soon after to her side, and she resumed her daydreaming. The air in the Hall was thick with anticipation from every person there spectator and contestant alike. The badge sat in its box just waiting to be awarded. Akane posed an idea of maybe hosting a magnificent ball for the first official contest winner in Asemon. And it was maybe there she could talk to that charming brunette woman whom she bothered not to remember her name.
"Sanity is only an idea made real, to make those who are boring feel better." -Akane
"Nono, it's fine; I promise. Just a bad dream. Thank you for coming to check on me." The guards turned around and returned to their post. Gosh are they scary. Does she recruit them for their height?
We miss our home and can't wait to go back.
What? They're still on small talk and where they're from? Dude...I was relying on you. -sigh- If you want something done, you've gotta do it yourself.
What's your home like?
Alright. Time to get up and fix this right now. Any second our last contestant could walk through there and the way Akane is looking, she's going to want to get this thing started the second their foot touches the inside of this hall and I need Eira ready.
Hey, no personal questions like that.
Oh kid, you were not the teammate I thought you were. Come on, Marcus. Time to get up...but Sofa's back is so sooooft... "NO! If we want to win, we've got to have Eira confident. Get up."
Marcus finally pulled himself from his resting place and met his fellow competitors half-way back right as Eira started to respond to Z's rapid-fire questions...
"It's absolutely gorgeous there. The snow covers just about everything and the lake is covered in ice that seems to sparkle. Plus there are wild Pokemon that roam around even within the village," Eira said with a slight whimsical note to her voice, almost as if she was daydreaming about her own home. That was nearly the case for Eira since she missed the snow and solitude of Silvertree ever since she set foot in the hot region. "Eirlys is the perfect region."
