Sofa's nose twitched and turned his head slightly to have zan in his peripheral vision as he came closer. "Well, I think-oh...h-hey zandrophin..." Weird... Marcus watched zan as he climbed up onto Maya's hut, his coat clearly sticking out like a sore thumb in contrast to the white snow. He turned back to Eira when his curiosity receded, "I...I actually thought we could take a walk or something. Come on, they can handle stuff around here for an hour. They, and more importantly you, need to realize they can deal with their own problems more. They can't keep coming to you with all these tiny disputes." Marcus turned to look at one of said villagers waiting for Eira's advice, "No offense." before turning his attention back to Eira, "It's probably the biggest reason you haven't expanded your village's resources; they've been relying on you for things you shouldn't be handling for them anymore. Please, let's go for a walk. On top of being friendly, I have things I want to share with you that I think you need to hear."
Sofa's nose twitched again, but this time he turned his body to watch Maya and Bo coming towards them, happy to see another familiar face. He waved to them as they approached. "Vigoroth."
"None of these disputes are tiny," Eira snapped at Marcus, growing upset at his words about her kingdom. "If you have not noticed, the people waiting for me are genuinely concerned about what they are asking of me. Some of them are even wishing to open up their homes to our guests, but cannot because they do not have enough blankets or food to do so, so I have to make a decision to either deny their request or to open up our stores for the coming winter so guests like YOU can stay here comfortably, putting my people at risk this winter in the process."
She paused to take in a shaky breath in order to calm herself. "We haven't expanded yet because we are just now getting the resources we need to do so through our trade with Celosia, but we also can't move when winter is coming quickly and the weather during that time makes life here hard, let alone in a newly formed village."
Eira sighed as Sealeo bumped her hand in concern. "Marcus, I'm not the same as I was when we met. I know what I'm doing here and so do my people, so please just give me some time to sort things out here before we talk. I have all night to talk to you, some of these things need to get done now before people end up getting hurt."
Marcus' eyes opened wide in surprise at Eira's outburst. I didn't think I was being that offensive. I just... Marcus' eyebrows then curled down in frustration, his voice coming out in a low growl. "Fine." Marcus went into Eira's hut only to return from it shortly with his backpack on. He took out Lex's ball and called him back into it from Eira's arms, everyone went silent. He paused for a moment, looked out at the villagers around him and felt butterflies in his chest for what he was about to say. He resolved himself and turned to Eira again.
"I'm sorry I assumed those things about your village, but when you go on and on about how they come to you for everything, never leave you alone and constantly bother you, I'm going to assume that they...come to you for everything, never leave you alone and constantly bother you. Not enough blankets or food is an easy thing to solve. Lodging for an extra person for a week won't put someone out of house and home; and once they've left, ice fishing in the lake would quickly bring that food back to normal before winter. If you don't have more blankets than you need at the start of autumn in a place like this, you're not going to survive a few months from now. Just ask other people if they have blankets to spare for a week. These are not things a queen needs to handle."
Marcus pointed angrily at Eira and then the villagers, "You and you need to learn that she is not your mother! You're wasting her time and your energy on common sense problems." Marcus started to leave, but caught himself and turned back around, "Oh, and for the record, with all of the hard working, resilient people here and all these trees, you could have easily expanded years ago, so don't try and feed me that crap about needing another kingdom's help. You want their dependence on you, for whatever reason; and so you're letting them cling to you like children. If you want to be a queen, be one. Stop being their keeper." Marcus stormed off to the west, heading out of the village, calling back as he went, "And don't worry about me being a burden on you; I can take care of myself." Sofa looked at Sealeo for a second, waved at him sadly and then chased after his trainer.
Marcus grumbled to himself as he stomped off, pulling tiny bulb-like growths from the low hanging branches and putting them in his pocket as he left, "Yeah right, needing Celosia.....surrounded by damn resources....fuckin' complaining all the time but OHHHOH, when I call you out on it, you defend 'em...rasinfrasin...makin' excuses...covering your own ass. You can figure your own shit out, see if I care..." He started breaking off branches and carrying them with him as he mumbled angrily off into the forest.
Zandrophin watched the spectacle from his rooftop perch. Marcus spoke with a conviction he'd never heard before...and, to put it lightly, he was impressed. As the boy walked off towards the woods, he slid down from the roof, landed deftly on the snow, looked back at Eira, shook his head, and followed after Marcus. Mentus tried his best to clear the air,
He's right, Lady Eira....if you continue to hold the hand of your people, they will never learn how to live for themselves. If you have someone to give you all the answers, you will never seek knowledge on your own. Just think on this, please...if something were to happen to you...would they be able to go on without you?
Zandrophin soon caught up to Marcus.
"Well said. She needed to hear that, I think."
There was a pause before he continued, cutting down some more branches
"So...where we settin' up camp?"

"Marcus!" Eira called after her friend, frowning when Zandrophin followed him with the same misconception of her kingdom. Sealeo slid off of the porch at a speed that was strange for its size, using the slippery snow to his advantage as he moved to catch up with the humans his partner wished to continue speaking with. He continued to slide until he ran into Marcus, sending the young man tumbling onto the Pokemon's back.
*You can't leave when my Eira hasn't explained,* Sealeo barked at Marcus as he moved to go back towards where his stunned trainer waited.
Marcus walked on, barely acknowledging zan's presence, "Not here, that's where." Suddenly, branches went flying as Marcus was knocked off balance; Sofa reached to grab him, but his claws couldn't get a good grip. The already fuming Marcus did not take kindly to being taken for a ride, by the queen or her Pokemon. He easily slipped off the small seal and squared off with him, "I am not some cat that needs to be carried off to its master. I have nothing I want to say to her and I am not her subject; it is not my duty to come to her beck and call. If she has something to say, she can come to me once she's done with her minor disputes." Marcus picked up the branches he had dropped after being seal-handled and turned back to the west, "Just follow the smoke."

Zandrophin rolled his eyes and cracked a small smile at Marcus' response to his mostly-serious question. Then, something swept up the fuming boy and began to carry him back. Zandrophin was surprised by this, but found the scene rather humorous. Marcus would have none of the Pokemon's ridiculousness, and quickly got off and made his way back to where he was originally, retrieving his sticks as he did so. He resumed his walk into the forest.
Zandrophin chuckled to himself.
He doesn't like to budge when he takes a stand...that's good. Perhaps he's still good to keep around. C'mon, old friend...let's make sure he doesn't hurt himself.
Of course, Sir.
Zandrophin continued to chuckle at the exchange that just happened...he hadn't seen something that ridiculous in quite a while. He followed closely behind Marcus, unsure of exactly where they were going, but that didn't bother him too much...he always had a plan if everything went wrong.

Sealeo used his tail to through a huge pile of snow towards Marcus' head, trying to get his attention. When the snow was flying, he decided to try to appeal to the two Pokemon in the group with his barking, hoping that he would listen to him like so many others do. *Sofa! Tell your human that he is being stupid about this! My Eira needs a chance to explain herself now with both of them. Mentus, I know you can talk to your human in their speech, so ask him to come back. I swear my Eira is not how they see her.*
Marcus stopped walking when he was hit with the snow. His whole upper body tensed up and shook slightly, then loosened and he continued to walk away, the frozen water still decorating the back of his head. Sofa stood still with a conflicted look on his face; he looked at Sealeo, then to the absconding Marcus, then back to Sealeo.
*He made up his mind. He needs to calm down. I don't like how he is with her. I'm sorry.* Sofa then stood in between Sealeo and Marcus with his arms up in a ready stance. *But she is being stupid. Stop making Marcus upset.*
*She is defending what we have built here from someone who does not understand. Bring him back in the morning when he has calmed down, please Sofa,* Sealeo barked at his friend with a pleading look, hoping that Sofa would help him end this stupid feud between the two humans. Sealeo looked back at Eira for a moment before he looked at Sofa worriedly. *I'll do what I can to bring you supplies later when my Eira goes to bed if you really are planning on leaving the Village for the night.*
Maya hardly knew what to think of the scene unfolding in front of her. She waved a hand in greeting to Sofa, was about to approach when everything snowballed. Literally. Clearly Marcus had somethings to say that Eira didn't appreciate. Maya kept a respectful distance away and was only able to hear snippets of the conversation, watched Marcus leave before being dragged back and being pelted with a snowball by a Sealeo.
Maya was about to leave and worry about hunting down her traveling companions later in the morning where she wasn't so tired and the atmosphere wasn't so tense. She took a few steps back and looked down at Bo to tell her it was time to go when she froze and a horrified expression appeared on her face.
Evidently the pink Pokemon thought this was a game and was positively giddy as she pulled back her stubby arm with the perfect round snowball.
"Bo no!" She hissed attempting to halt the Pokemon but it was too late. Bo flung the snowball at Eira, bleating excitedly. Maya made a noise that was a cross between a choked Pidgey and a startled Pikachu. (Sorry I couldn't help it. The image was too funny.)
Eira jumped at the noise, turning to see where the disturbance was coming from just in time to be smacked in the face by the incoming snow ball. Eira froze as the snow fell from her face before she wiped off the remaining snow so she could look for the culprit. She was by no means upset since it was most likely a child that had carelessly thrown the snowball, she just wanted to know who's arm it was that she had to keep an eye on while she finished her work.
Sofa frowned and lowered his head before turning around and following after Marcus without saying a word. He didn't understand any of this; why should any of them care? Why did Marcus care about the snow lady's place? Why did she care what Marcus thought? Why was Sealeo so rude to Marcus? Too many questions; and Sofa realized another question: why did he care about this? Marcus was upset, that's why. And he didn't know how to help. But it didn't matter, because he was going to do whatever he could for Marcus.
Marcus brushed the snow off his head as he kept his brisk, angry pace, "I don't like that seal......his stubbornness reminds me too much of me."
Maya panicked and hurriedly grabbed Bo by the fluff of her neck and pulled her away despite the indignant bleats. Eira was looking around for the culprit and she did not want to be the person who's Pokemon chucked a bunch of snow at the queen. Could you get beheaded for that? If it was Akane probably so but she wasn't going to try it with Eira. She fled through the snow, dragging her Pokemon away.
Marcus had stomped off and Zandrophin had seemingly poofed so she decided that she wouldn't worry about it right now. She could find them in the morning. For now she would go back to the hut where she would be warm and asleep before heading off into the unknown tundra with two people who clearly did not get along. Tomorrow. She would worry about these things tomorrow.
Since she couldn't find the person who had thrown the ball of snow at her, Eira decided to return to her duties before turning in for the night herself. She needed time to rest up for the morning that was to come, especially if she was going to hunt down Marcus and possibly Akane as well before they headed off for whatever journey they were each going on. She didn't want to leave things on a sour note with either of them and she really needed to catch up with Akane before they were separated for Arceus knew how long.
