"That's what they all say. " He didn't mean anything by it he was just joking around. "This sword is only ceremonial, that means the blade is dull. " His mind wondered a bit then resumed focus. "You hold a vast territory, surely you can't rely on billions of snowflakes to protect your borders? Though I guess now I know why your kingdom throws great parties. Let them come to you with open arms, rather than open.......'arms'. " Chazz was teasing he didn't see many guards, though the wet and cold climate hinders the effectiveness of lightning type pokemon. No.....the Astrapi wouldn't be up here just yet. "Surely your Commander of your guard is here? Or have I killed him already? No....no that was Sir Marron. " Chazz took another sip and looked at the queen.
"At this time, Eirlys does not have a formal military, so I do not have a Commander such as yourself," Eira admitted with a frown, unsure if she should be sharing such information with someone she wasn't sure if she could trust. Akane trusted him though, and Eira knew she could trust her ally, so she felt she could trust the man before her. "Eirlys is only as big as what you see here in this village. We are expanding rapidly, but we still have a ways to go before we have the man power to support a formal military."

"Well Eira, if you don't think you have a military then you are wrong. Your frozen lakes, rivers, and glaciers are your navy. The snow and mountains make up your vast army and lest you ever forget that the bitter cold is the greatest ally in a war of attrition." Chazz said this jokingly, but it was truth. You could push easily in to the north. Yet, one blizzard and your entire army is cut off.
"If you did had a commander I would have known about him." He smiled.
"That is an interesting concept to take into consideration," Eira said politely, though she was actually a bit intrigued by how Chazz saw their natural defenses that none of the residents of Eirlys seemed to think much of day to day. She smiled at him kindly, seeing a bit of why Akane must trust him, after all he seemed quite intelligent and capable. "Maybe once my kingdom is larger and I have a Commander such as yourself, we will come visit Celosia and see you and Akane."

"Well we wouldn't want Celosia invaded from the north. It would be troublesome. Manageable, but troublesome. " He smiled back at her. "Well thank you for the compliment, no there aren't many free agent military commanders in Asemon in the moment. Seeing as I've killed most of them. " He laughed in almost an evil way. I mean it was truth before Akane established Celosia. The land was fought over by many warring households. Chazz wondered to himself how many of there heads were still adorn Akane's private trophy room. "Well I can only assume you and your new commander, would be welcomed in Celosia."
"I should hope we would be with Akane and I agreeing to be allies as of now," Eira said with a small laugh, though she did not actually feel like she was joking. She knew quite well that Celosia could wipe out her tiny Eirlys without so much as batting an eye, so she had to maintain her friendship with Akane for more than her own personal reasons. "I also wouldn't dream of invading Celosia. I don't think my people would take too well to the hotter climate anyway, so it wouldn't prove wise to do so even if our kingdoms were on bad terms."

"She did tell me of the alliance." The alliance benefited both countries. The north would need an entire theater to be opened up to fully take it over. With what was going on in the south, Chazz didn't want to put strain on the military coffers. Chazz never wanted to risk taking the north, with trade prospering unhindered along the border, the populous would be upset if war broke out. "Well yes it would be a shame to see all your people invade only to watch them burn up on grassy plains. Winter coats might act like plate-mail up here, but go south and it's as useless as a loincloth." He allowed himself to laugh a little.
"Our people are best suited for the climates of our kingdoms," Eira concluded with a small laugh herself. She was glad that the military leader before her seemed to be in agreement that either of their kingdoms invading the other would not be worth the trouble even if it would have been easy for Celosia to take over. She wasn't sure if Akane would be suited for such a cold climate anyway, so it was hard for her to believe that the red queen would even want the land to the north of her kingdom. "Our coats are well suited for the lives we live here, but they only hinder us when we travel past the blizzards to the south of us."

"People go where the work and opportunity is. Although, I must say who ever you choose to be your commander, they have their work cut out for them. Silvertree has no defenses." Chazz didn't mean to insult, but as he looked around the party, he saw no guards and no sentries. A matter of fact even with a dull blade he could take control of the capitol right now. Alas Akane would certainly yell at him and he was assured to dirty his suit. No he would be civil. Chazz would see enough bloodshed soon. "Well until you have a commander at least invest in some guards. Parties are excellent distractions for a thief."
"The hunters of the village act as our guards whenever they are not out in the forest. They are the only ones capable of wielding the few weapons that we do have, so I have placed them in charge of our defense. You can see a few of them around the festival," Eira explained, motioning around to some of the bulkier men and women who were covered in furs from their past kills. "As I said, Eirlys does not have a formal military, but that does not mean that Silvertree has no defenses."

"Well if a rampant Beartic were to attack Celosia, we might have to call for aid." Chazz was trying to be funny, but his dry deadpan humor is lost on many people. "So, what is the day in the life of the Queen of Ice like? I know there aren't many settlements here up north. How do you keep up communication?" Chazz was trying to show general interest, though he didn't like people much and he was trying to be civil.
Akane’s face twitched. Has this man ever danced before? It’s true I didn’t see him dance. She grumbled a little when Marcus accidentally stepped on her toes. She was surprised though, he learned very quickly. He spoke of a mamoswine stampede, which had been unheard of so close to Enya. She thought briefly about sending hunting parties to thin the herds and protect Enya.
”So, no idea whatsoever? That’s interesting. I hope you are enjoying your adventure thus far. I thank you for the update. Are you in need of anything?” She let her eyes dart quickly to the sides. She observed Zandrophin and Maya engaging with an unknown figure, and she could have sworn her guard was here too. It took her a moment before she noticed him speaking with Eira. Oh dear, please don’t make a mess with my recent ally. She looked around. Although, I don’t know why I’m dealing with her. There’s not much here…

Marcus was starting to warm up while dancing, maybe from being so close to the queen of fire. He relaxed a bit and started to take the lead more; both in the dance and the conversation.
"Information; but I need that from Eira. I'm going to travel across Eirlys after this festival is over and I'd like some tips from the ice queen herself. There is something I felt I needed to tell you, though, since you are now in; it seems, relations with Eirlys. A bit north of the border of Eirlys and Celosia in the eastern forest, there's a man by the name of Rhys Flaxencrow. He has a very lucrative trading post for being in an area not many travel through. If he wasn't there, we would have died on the way up here for sure. His post is along the one trail leaving north of Enya. There is also a large bridge across Star Lake directly west of him leading to the mountains. An actual road up to him and across to the bridge would certainly keep the Celosian death count down. He's a genuinely kind individual."
Marcus smiled genuinely as he moved with Akane. Despite the conversation being serious, he was having fun, and wasn't messing up with his footwork...as much.
The red lady was slightly taken back when Marcus first took control of their little tango. She left the lead up to him except for when he got lost, and then shed take it back.
Rhys Flaxencrow, a rogue living between Enya and Eirlys. Celosian death count? Hardly. We have our trusty pokemon and rarely move up to Eirlys; for anything. Perhaps she would tell Chazz about the man, and have him be, interviewed. But she was grateful the young man was alright.
”So, once you’re done with Eirlys, you’re heading to the Northwestern Plains, am I right?” As far as she remembered, the Northwestern plains were actually pretty uninhabited as far as she knew. There were remnants of human life there, such as an old creepy house on the Eirlys borders, several ancient shrines and statues, and other clues. One of her relic amulets was from there.

"That’s the plan. We aren’t equipped for proper mountain climbing and it would make our trip last a few months longer than I’m willing to accept, since we’d be searching mountains with no trails or tried and tested cliff faces. The plan is to go around in a big circle looking for rivers and bays, scanning the plains and oases in the desert; all the easiest places for towns to spring up. We're going to avoid the mountain ranges and badlands if at all possible.” The song was coming to an end and Marcus tried to end it in a flourish by sending the queen out and then pulling her back in at the crescendo, their bodies close together and faces in close proximity. Marcus held his gaze with the queen, holding an innocent smile across his mouth.
“Then we come back and show you all that we’ve found.” As the song ended, Marcus let Akane go and clapped for the band along with everyone else on the dance floor.
