Nero didn't seem to care that he had been snapped at. "Vulpix? Vulpix Vul! Vulpix Vul Vulpix! Vulpix Vul Vul!" *Master? Even better! I have never met Pokemon royalty before! And I still think your pretty!*
Nicole was getting nervous about the conversation the Pokemon were having. "Hey, Nero, maybe you should go into your Pokeball for a while. I don't think she likes you very much...." She tried but Nero sent her a small pout. "No. I'll let you out when the conversation is over." Nicole finally said reaching for the Pokeball on her backpack strap.
"I guess normal was never supposed to be a word for me." - Nicole
*Watch your mouth child,* Shimmer snapped at Nero before butting itself against Eira to let her know that it did not want to be out of its ball anymore. Eira pulled out the Dive ball with a small sigh before returning her partner to it with a shake of her head.
"I'm sorry about Shimmer. It can be a bit aggressive towards other Pokemon and gets annoyed easily," she apologized with a small smile towards Nero. "I wish I had another Pokemon to have you meet, but my little egg hasn't hatched just yet."
Nicole felt bad for putting Nero up when Eira put away her Staryu, but didn't release him from his Pokeball. She needed to be firm in her decision. Once she was done having her discussion with Eira, and had moved away, she would release him.
"It's okay. Nero's just stubborn. He tries hard to make friends no matter what. To put it nicely, he's the social one in my stead. I'm usually the one who sneaks away from a conversation with the other person is distracted...." Nicole immediately regretted saying that last part but rolled with it. "Honestly, if I had never found him, I would probably never have gone back into populated areas." Again, she felt herself regretting her words. She really needed to stop talking....
"I guess normal was never supposed to be a word for me." - Nicole
"I know what you mean," Eira chuckled, taking a liking to Nicole even if she seemed to have an affinity to Fire types as opposed to Eira's love for Ice types. Eira looked out to the festival with a small, almost sad, smile before she addressed Nicole again. "If it wasn't for my Sealeo and his need to help people, this village would not exist and I would not be the queen of a kingdom. Without him, it probably would have still been just us settled up here."
Nicole internally beat her head on a wall. Just her luck that she would meet both royals in one place. And the fact that she was nervous rambling didn't help by any means. Running through what was said by the other she thought about her response. "Seems like you have a very noble Pokemon. Nero is more the playful type though. He's the reason I don't have to worry about the Pokemon I run into. They tend to fall to Nero's social charm. I on the other hand, tend to just cause a problem wherever I go.... That's why I don't like populated areas... I think?"
Ah! Nicole stop talking! Stop talking now! Why are you running your mouth?!? Stop, stop, stop!
"I guess normal was never supposed to be a word for me." - Nicole
"Sealeo is very heroic and will often go out of his way to help those in need, even when others would not do the same for him," Eira said with a fond smile, enjoying the conversation she was having with this new trainer over their surprisingly similar Pokemon. "Isn't it strange how some Pokemon can fit in so well in any situations even if their trainer isn't the most comfortable person in social environments?"
"Yeah, definitely strange... I guess it just has to do with personality." Nicole said in agreement with Eira's statement. "Nero is the only part of my past that I can hold onto. From what I can tell, he's always been with me. Of course that is the strange thing considering where I'm from." Nicole shrugged then and looked over at the Pokeball. "I mean... I know I was born in Mauville City, but Vulpix aren't commonplace there." Nicole shook her head. "But I guess that doesn't matter. That's the past, it's not the here and now."
"I guess normal was never supposed to be a word for me." - Nicole
"Mount Pyre was not too far away from Mauville, so surely Fire type weren't too uncommon in your area," Eira said in disbelief, not remembering too much for the region she had been born in but remembering that there had been several large mountains in the region. "But you are right, it's in the past now. Vulpix are incredibly rare to see in this area since it is so cold. Most of the Fire type trainers that do wander up here have other Fire types like Arcanine or Rapidash, so seeing such a small one is an interesting sight."
"Well no... it's just that Vulpixs are not as common in Hoenn as they are in other places." Nicole stated, looking once again at Nero's Pokeball. She then decided to move on to Eira's next comment. "Nero doesn't actually like the cold that much. I just kinda wandered here though so he had no choice in the matter. He hasn't been complaining too much though. As long as I carry him, he's fine." She smiled at the Pokeball. Nero was going to have something to say to her when she released him again.
"I guess normal was never supposed to be a word for me." - Nicole
Accepting his compliment, the woman spoke for her pokemon. "I'm sure she is flattered." Her awkwardness was almost as endearing as the flapping flaaffy. His demeanor was calm and easy around her.
”Well, she should be; especially as I comment on her trainer’s beauty. “ He chuckled and gently tucked his left elbow into his ribs to wave to her. ”My name is Tsubame Feng. I’m from Sinnoh, if you know where that is.” He almost blushed when he rubbed the back of his head praying she had an idea of that was.
"Damned if you do. Damned if you don't. Life's a game not meant to be won by people like me." -Tsubame
Maya blinked in surprise and turned to look at the man. Beauty? She thought in disbelief, staring at him like he had grown a second head. He's got the wrong trainer. She glanced away, one part uncomfortable, one part flattered, and two parts embarrassed. Bo bleated happily as the man waved at her.
But Maya glanced back up at him in surprise again when the conversation moved away from compliments.
"Actually yes," she said, fiddling with her braid again. "...I'm from Snowpoint City... So I guess I do know where it is... Oh." Maya suddenly remembered her manners. "My name is Maya Reed." She gave a slight incline of her head. Oh dear she was jumping all over the place now.
"Most Fire types don't like it up here very much even though they give off so much heat. Many often find it hard to stay warm up here, especially ones that do not have a lot of fur or an internal flame sack," Eira nodded, understanding perfectly why the little Pokemon didn't like it in the area. "Some trainers have tried letting their Fire types sit in or near fires to keep warm, but I will have to ask you not to do the same right now. It is a dangerous season in this area and you wouldn't want to attract anything with a fire."
Nicole sighed internally at the warning of not putting Nero near a fire. Considering where she had set up camp, she was sure that the warning probably be heeded, but she kind of needed to set one up for a short amount of time when she got back. Nero would need the heat, and she would be bugged by him if she didn't settle herself near one sooner or later considering he kept insisting she would only get colder.
"Nero has also never really been in an area this cold before. We spent a ton of time in the desert so we never saw snow. He also never really got to see a festival either. I never entered town to go to one after I was about... eight? Yeah, eight sounds right." Nicole said nodding to herself to confirm the age, though she wasn't actually sure she was right.
"Anyways... I think Nero has been in his ball long enough, and I still haven't seen the rest of the festival. I hope you don't find me rude if I ask to leave the conversation now...." Nicole really did want to see the rest of the festival and she did promise Nero she would let him out after the conversation was finished.
"I guess normal was never supposed to be a word for me." - Nicole
"Go ahead and enjoy yourself. Try to warm up by some of the fires we have going, it's safer to do so here than anywhere out in the forest," Eira told Nicole with a slight smile and a small curtsy to let the Fire type trainer know that she did not find it rude at all. Eira figured she would eventually have to get used to people being overly polite to her whenever she tried to interact with those she didn't know. "There should be plenty of things to do here, so I'm sure you and Nero will enjoy yourselves just fine."
Nicole and Eira's conversation was finally over. Zandrophin frowned a bit.
Too bad...their Pokemon were not terribly friendly towards each other....could've made for an interesting show.
Zandrophin looked to check on the others. Akane and Marcus were still waiting on the dance number to start...and the unknown character was still talking to Maya.
Perhaps we should rejoin the festivities, Sir....go introduce ourselves to the new kid.
I believe you're right. Let's go.
Zandrophin slid off the roof, landed silently in the snow, and walked slowly towards and past Maya and the new guy.
We do not dare interrupt their conversation...but perhaps we will be noticed and drawn into it...
