Alloy floated out of the way of the bolt, using a falling rock to block the attack and slammed the rock with a meteor mash that sent the boulder flying at Shimmer at high speeds. Z watched the battle, noting that the arena would be hell to clean up once this was all over and done with. Z hoped Alloy would be able to win this match before things got too out of hand. Z knew the rocks would hamper the movements of both pokemon, but they filled the water, making it hard for the smaller pokemon to utilize it's natural environment.
"Psychic!" Eira called to her partner, knowing that, even with Shimmer's incredible speed, it would not be able to dodge the flying boulder without gaining some kind of damage. Shimmer caught the boulder with its Psychic abilities before turning it around and throwing it back towards Alloy in an attempt to damage its opponent even a little bit with its own move. Eira frowned, knowing this battle was lasting far too long for them to be getting anywhere and the two Psychic types didn't seemed to be phased much at all from what battling they have done.
"Break it!" yelled Z to Alloy. The steel type let out a roar and slammed a power up punch into the boulder, shattering it and giving it a boost in attack power as well. "Now hit it with Zen Headbutt!" yelled Z Alloy grunted and a sphere of blue energy appeared in front of its head and it flew at the Starmie, trying to ram it with the sphere on its head, knowing it would do a massive amount of damage, even though they were both psychic types, so the attack would only do half as much. With the boosts Alloy had gotten and the Same-Type boost, the attack would be devastating.
"Make a shield!" Eira ordered Shimmer as the broken rocks began to fall away. Shimmer brought the rocks back up in front of it using its Psychic abilities before it began to quickly back away just in case Alloy managed to break through the rock shield. Eira wondered if there was anything she could do to slow down the Metagross at this point, especially since her electric type move didn't seem to paralyze it and none of her attacks seemed to weaken it any. She had to think of something or she would loose Shimmer.
The attack slammed into the shield with full force, fighting against the rocks. Luckily, the rocks were able to take the brunt off of the attack and Alloy was deflected into a wall. "Nice trick," said Z, "an innovative use of the environment." Alloy pulled itself out of the wall and glared at the Starmie. IT waited for Z's next command as it watched its opponent. Z thought about what he could do next. Shimmer was fast and he couldn't land many hits on it.
"Throw the rocks at it!" Eira called to her partner, her mind reeling at what possible move combination she could do that would take out the strong Pokemon she was facing off against. As Shimmer threw the rocks at Alloy with incredible force and the Psychic glow faded away from them, an idea struck Eira for a follow up move to boost the attack. "Now use Surf!"
Shimmer charged up water around it before releasing the waves of water towards Alloy. When the wave caught up with the rocks, it surged forward and gave a boost of power to the thrown rocks.
The rocks and water slammed into Alloy, sending him flying into the wall hard. The boulders and water continued to slam into the steel type forcing it to try to defend itself from the onslaught from the attack as it tried to hold strong and not faint from the power of the attacks that were hammering it relentlessly. "Alloy!" yelled Z, "hang in there!" Alloy used meteor mash to blast through the attack, but it had been weakened.
"Keep it up Shimmer! While it is still wet, use Thunderbolt!" Eira instructed, glad to see that her luck in this battle was finally changing when nothing seemed to have worked before. Shimmer charged up the electrical current in its body before releasing the massive bolt of lightning towards Alloy in an attempt to finish its opponent off before it could fully recover from the previous attack. Both trainer and Pokemon were happy that the battle seemed to possibly be coming to an end in a few short moves. One way or another, either Alloy would faint from the onslaught of attacks or Shimmer would faint from using up so much energy at once.
Alloy roared in pain and fell to the ground unconscious creating a small crater.
"Alloy is unable to battle," said the Announcer, "the winner is Shimmer. Please select your next pokemon."
Z smirked, "that was a good strategy, using the arena against me. You won't win that easily though, I will put up a good fight even though I've lost this round. The war is not over yet." Z thought about which pokemon would be best.
Eira blinked in surprise that she had won. She just couldn't believe that she had managed to beat such a strong Pokemon with her little Shimmer and couldn't be more proud of her battler. "Use Recover while we have the chance."
Shimmer seemed to salute her before it began to glow multiple colors and heal the wounds left over from its previous fight. Eira turned her attention to Z while she let Shimmer recover. "Do I have to switch out too or can I keep using Shimmer until it can't fight anymore?"
She knew that if she had to switch out as well, then she had just lost her best battler and that none of her other Pokemon would be able to handle the terrain well even with the flooded conditions.
"Unfortunately you do," said Z, "the rules say no substitutions and the match is two vs two. If you want I can drain the arena first though so things will be a bit easier for both our pokemon." Z looked over at the watery arena and tried to think which pokemon would be able to handle a battle against her team if it came down to it. none of his partners were amphibious.
Eira frowned at the news and looked down at the area in concern. Meta could transform into a Water type just fine and survive, but it wasn't that powerful of a Pokemon just yet and she wasn't sure if it would do well in a match against Z. Draining the arena was out of the questions since the water was the only thing giving her the advantage, so that only left her with one choice. With a small sigh, she recalled Shimmer to rest in its ball before throwing down the ball that would release her Walrein onto the few rocks peaking out of the water.
Z threw his pokeball and Sparky emerged and landed nimbly on a rock.
"BEGIN" said the announcer.
Z nodded and looked over the battlefield, "alright," said Z, "Use Attract!" Sparky nodded and blew a kiss at Walren, sending hearts flying at the larger pokemon that would infatuate it with her. Z frowned, knowing that this battle would be tough considering the terrain.
"Dive!" Eira called, nervous about those hearts even though they seemed so harmless. Walrein slid off of the rock he was on just in time for the hearts to fly through where he once had been. Eira thought wildly about what more she could do to turn this battle towards her, especially since the water seemed to be the only thing going for her at the moment since Sparky was faster than her and had a Fighting typing that could do serious damage to her Walrein. Walrein swam around for a moment before he came up onto a rock once more in case Eira needed him to do something. Eira smiled slightly before it hit her. "Use Hail!"
Walrein roared as he summoned an ice storm onto the field, dark clouds circling above and dropping shards of ice onto the field.
"Sparky," said Z, "full power flamethrower into the water!"
Sparky nodded and blasted a stream of white hot flames into the water, while enduring the hailstorm. slowly, the water temperature began to raise until the water was nearing a boiling point with Waliren still submerged in it. Z was betting that this would flush it out and possibly burn the pokemon in the process, as long as sparky could hold out.
