It was a rainy day in Celosia, Akane was for once, happy to be inside because of it; even if it means paperwork. This complaint here, this request there, this war over here, it was all too much on such a bothersome day. As if on cue, she heard a bell ring on the door-someone had entered the gym. An excuse to stay inside and not do paperwork? She really hoped this time it was an actual challenger and not some lost tourist.
Standing up and brushing herself off, she exited her side room and locked it tight to go meet the visitor. Upon entering the room it was someone she did not expect.

Eira smiled when she saw Akane, fixing her thin clothing as she did so so she would be presentable when meeting the other queen. She was new to this area, but several guards had sent her this way when she asked for directions. "Good evenin, Akane. This is a lovely gym that you've set up here."
She was unsure of how to word what she wanted to say without sounding too harsh, but it was important to her to go ahead and make the challenge. "I would like to challenge you for your badge."
”Much thanks. However, I did not build this place. It was closed and I usurped it. Many of the traditions held in this hall are not mine, but will continue to stand as long as I am the leader of this gym.” She ran her hand over a nearby wall decoration, which of course was solid gold, ”This building was much too beautiful to go on auction or unused, and the previous owner was a dear friend of mine. As such, when I meet the right fire type trainer, they will most-likely be faced with an opportunity to inherit it as well.”
Akane gracefully led the woman to the arena. It had two peaceful zen rock gardens on the sides of the arena, one of which Undine was resting in a tranquility pond nearby. Undine, upon noticing Eira, immediately-yet elegantly, raced over to the royal woman before her. She wasn’t too close so she could flick her tail aside and the droplets of water beaded up and rolled off of her scales, giving her a shimmering quality; any chance to be complimented by a royal, she was vain enough to take.
”Undine, please return to your pond; leave Eira alone she’s had a long day of traveling.” She flicked her hair off her shoulder and waited for Undine to return to the pond she was soaking in. ”Water-types are so hard to manage… how do you do it?” She laughed a gentle giggle. ”By the way, I noticed your horrified face the last time we met. Your starmie’s arm is buried in my private garden; as a sign of respect and our friendship, even though I don’t really see the point. Please do not neglect to return a bow again, especially within these walls where it is a tradition to bow both before and after a match. Something the previous owner strictly enforced for some reason. Perhaps discipline? I’m not sure.”
”Now being a water type trainer I imagine you having a very easy time with this battle.” She wasn’t yelling at all, but her voice could be heard clearly from every crevice in the room, perhaps because of the way the building was made? She couldn’t be sure, but she didn’t care. ”Three pokemon each. 1 switchout. No items. How does a double battle sound? I bet we could make some pretty nice combinations here.” Undine writhed up to Akane’s side, but Akane only scolded her. ”Undine, this is a gym battle for the fire gym, you’re not a fire type. Do not make me return you to your ball right now.” Her voice was cold, and maybe a little vicious. Undine immediately slinked back into her pond to mope, even with her head held high and her best side to the arena.
”So sorry about that. She’s usually pretty good, but she just admires royalty because she knows that’s what she is. So, how about that battle?”

"I see, well it is lovely nonetheless and it is wonderful that you are trying to keep this place alive. Early does not have any historical buildings since we tend to only build things when they are needed, so it is quite something to see a place like this," Eira commented as she followed Akane towards the arena, her nerves quieting greatly as she just chatted with her long time friend. When Undine came up to her, Eira had to resist the urge to reach out to stroke the magnificent scales on the Water type.
"Water types have a wonderful amount of pride, though it comes in various forms. It is easy to train one once you figure out how to use its pride to your advantage, though, of course, I may be partial to working with them since I did grow up on an island before coming to this land," Eira chuckled thoughtfully, watching as Undine sparkled as she moved. Eira then flushed upon hearing Akane's words, having n it meant to cause an disrespect to her fellow queen. "I apologize for not bowing back to you, I honestly meant no disrespect. I was simply caught up in my own thoughts after that battle and failed to notice you bowing. I know that is no excuse, but it is the truth."
Eira couldn't help but to laugh softly at how eager Undine was to show off her beauty, though Eira had to admit that she would be awe struck to watch that beautiful Pokemon in any sort of performance, "Your rules seem fair enough, though I'm a tad sad that you won't be using Undine. I would love to see her in action some time,"
The red lady scoffed; she was already irritated with Undine’s antics. Normally she wouldn’t mind but this was official business. “I will tell you a glittering flash of death is a sight to see; although, she’s not much on taking damage. It takes weeks for her to recover her scales to their pristine condition.” She couldn’t stay mad at the creature however, ”But I’ll tell you as much as you’d like to battle her, she’d like to show off for you. She’d like that.”
Since the challenger’s side was closer, Akane escorted Eira to her post. ”As you can see, there are guards nearby for any fainted pokemon. They will immediately take them to the healer, and if seriously injured, the clinic in Pyron not far from here.” There were several meditation cushions and a large area for the challenger and their other pokemon, even ones she wasn’t using-though nobody but psychic type trainers really used the cushions while battling.
Akane briskly walked over to her side. Undine was still proudly moping in the meditative pond, but otherwise her pokemon were resting in their balls. ”Shall we begin?” To show it was alright for her to do the same, Akane released almost all of her pokemon to gather around her. This was visual experience for them, and she intended for them to watch, even though she already knew she couldn’t win against a water type trainer in a fire-battle.
On her right side she specifically released Pyrois at the far end, Aziza, then Mr. Doom next to herself. On the left, Silas was next to her, with Celosia and Bastille fanning out. Enni was already out as well, but she was in her den not being disturbed.
”On my right, you see my fire types that you will be facing. On my left, you remember Silas?” the cruel pokemon made no change in its serious expression. ”Next my bastiodon Bastille and Celosia, my vivillion. And of course Undine.” She smiled. ”Now of my three, whom would you like to battle first?”

Eira brought out her Pokemon upon being prompted, looking at each of them in turn as they got used to being out of their balls in the new environment. Shimmer noticed that they were in a gym and immediately moved to jump into the field, wanting to prove himself against this human once more, especially against that Luxray that had beaten him. When she saw the eagerness of Shimmer, she decided that it would be the first to battle, but who would she have it fight against?
"I think I would like to battle Aziza first," she finally said, making the decision that the smallest of the Fire types would probably be the best match for Shimmer to get them started.
The russet furred flareon’s tail frizzed out, and immediately she looked to Akane. Only with the nod of her trainer, did she relax and slowly walk to her position, careful not to waste any energy-minus the short glare and snort of fiery derision she shot at the likewise shimmering star pokemon she was to face. Once in position she waited for Akane’s orders, making sure to glare and show off her vicious fangs that if Aziza could will them too-would drip venom.
”Interesting choice. Would you like to hear a story my friend? The story of how I found this little gem?” the red-haired woman cracked a creepy, thin smile. ”I found her, white as snow, truly a crystalline diamond in the rough. She was a prized possession quickly recruited to nothing more than a cumbusken-fighter in a mosh pit of rangy, scarred pokemon. I am quite pleased you choose my little rescue girl, she truly is the most vicious and unruly of all my pokemon.”
As soon as the starmie entered the field, Aziza bolted towards the pokemon, ready to bite, slash, dig something-anything sharp into the leathery flesh of the opposing pokemon. Akane ordered for her to surround herself in a swift to protect from any projectiles. In response, Aziza spit out at least a dozen stars, make her charge that much more deadly and sharp.

Eira did not like the look that came off of the fiery pup Pokemon that she had chosen now that it was coming onto the field. Something about it seemed just a bit off and Akane's explanation of her did not help Eira's feeling one bit as Shimmer eagerly jumped onto the field to show that it was ready to go. Without any warning for the battle to begin, the Flareon began to charge and took Eira off guard with how quickly it moved and responded to Akane's commands. Shimmer jumped high to get away from the Fire type, using its extra legs to give it an extra boost of power to send it higher into the air, resulting it to go soaring at a height that most other non-flying Pokemon were unable to reach.
"Now level the playing field! Use your Surf!" Eira called to her partner, hoping to take advantage of the typings as quickly as possible and cut this battle short. She had a feeling that if this battle lasted too long, the odds would ever turn into Akane's favor even with all of the training she and Shimmer had been doing to prepare for this rematch.
Pokemon couldn’t smile, right? Their faces weren’t made to, especially in the eerie, angry way the flareon grinned at her newest challenge that had soared high above her, way out of her reach. A flame thrower could reach it, Akane reasoned, But what’s the point? It won’t be able to stay airborne for long. Aziza concentrated her swift between herself and the starmie who began dripping with condensation all over its body into a surf. Aziza waited for Akane to order her swift to attack, but instead Akane had a different idea.
”Aziza, use lava plume! Protect yourself from the surf!” An image of Doom’s fall because of that damn Furfrou of the Duchess’s surf.
Instantly the illuminated stars molted and dripped into running lava that Aziza used to manipulate and churn around herself like a shield to stop the flood. It seemed to work, the crashing cool surf seemed to solidify against the radiating hot magma and form an obsidian barrier for the vulnerable fire type. Eventually the wall had become nearly a full half-sphere around Aziza and it allowed her to rest, and regain her fire power until the surf subsided. As a protective measure, she summoned more stars to her side to defend against surprise attacks from the single opening to her obsidian cave.

Eira frowned at the sudden shield that Akane came up with against her attack, having hoped that it would have been an easy knock out. She almost had to laugh at the thought though, since nothing with Akane was ever easy, especially when it came to her pride as a Pokemon trainer. As Shimmer began sinking back towards the ground, Eira took a deep breath to calm herself and give her some time to come up with a good strategy against Akane. The field was now coated in a generous layer of water, which would probably make things much more difficult for Akane while it would aid her in the future.
"Switch to a Psychic," Eira murmured, calming down considerably as she took in the current battle. Shimmer landed in the water with a soft splash and began to glow a deep purple, giving an indication that it was trying to move the shield away from the Flareon, or, at the very least, break it down.
Flareon’s stars diminished once she realized what was happening. Hiding in her sphere until shards began to crack off and cover her in dust. Akane had ordered for her to defend her obsidian fort, but before she could actually shout an order, Aziza had jumped on the sphere, steam escaping from her mouth, she unleashed a bone-charring flamethrower at the starmie who was preoccupied with the shield.
Akane’s sharp eyes scanned the battlefield. She already knew at this point the puddles would prove a problem not only for this battle but also for the next few. Aziza still had plenty of energy though, so she figured she’d let the flareon play, before clearing the way for the next few rounds. She watched the flames reach desperately for the starmie, at such an incredible speed-but she knew, the starmie she was seeing, was probably only an illusion left by its speed.

Somehow Shimmer knew, the second that it saw the Flareon jump onto its shield, that it needed to move and move quickly before it could start attacking. It hoped that its human could keep up and understand where it was going, so she could come up with a plan of attack for them to do.
"Go! Thunderbolt!" Eira called out to Shimmer, having only a little idea of where it was in the field since her eyes really couldn't keep up with it except for the occasional flash of light that came off of its gemstone. Shimmer appeared to freeze in place behind the Flareon so as to be out of range of the Flamethrower, but it had not completely stopped. Its back legs were spinning at such a fast pace that it was beginning to build up an electrical charge that it shot off towards the Flareon with a simple flip of its body. Eira hoped that this quick attack would hit and at least slow the Pokemon down enough for this fight to be easier.
Aziza’s ear flicked behind her, the sound of crackling tickled her instincts. She quickly stopped her flamethrower and moved out of the way, but her fur was now on end, being electrically charged as the thunderbolt rose, not from her, but the only other tall object in the room; her cooled lava shield was in ruins. Angrily, the flareon’s howl echoed and she let loose another round of swifts, but this time like shurikens they were flung towards the other star pokemon. She began racing towards the star pokemon.
Akane’s smile widened. She couldn’t keep track of the star pokemon or the fox pokemon, they were moving so quickly, but that was the fun of this battle-the pokemon were making the calls, and that made this battle so much more unique. As if to emphasize that, Aziza continually fired off stars at Shimmer, and as such use them to corral Starmie closer. Once Shimmer was in range, Aziza sought to kick and trip up the star pokemon where she could, sometimes needing swift stars as aids to catch starmie off-guard. The dust and water flung up by her constant rebounding to stay close by jumping and pivoting from the ground created a translucent curtain, vaguely masking them from their trainers. Aziza even starting biting as well as tripping and clawing at the starmie’s gem and appendages.

Eira quickly lost track of the Fire type when it began to move around, leaving her to just imagine what was going on in the fight that had quickly escalated. A part of her was worried about Shimmer after its last fight with one of Akane's Pokemon, but she knew somehow that Shimmer was not about to give in and quit before it got the chance to prove itself in the eyes of the other queen.
Shimmer used its Psychic abilities to catch the stars that were flung at it, moving them one by one into a shield that thinly coated its body to protect it from the scratches that the Flareon was trying to leave with its teeth and claws. It did not take long for Shimmer to become annoyed with the wild creature that it was facing and pushed the stars off of its body at an incredible force, taking the time to begin to build up another Surf from the water that surrounded it and was within its body. This rabid creature was going to go down one way or another if Shimmer had anything to say about it.
The red-haired queen was growing irritated with the starmie refusing to die. Granted, it probably trained after the incident with Silas, but still! She watched with a cold face as several of starmie’s stars it stole from Aziza were fired off in the young fox’s face. Aziza was bleeding from her cheeks and one of her eyes was closed. This worried the queen, so much so, she ordered flareon to open the other eye to make sure it was still functional.
Aziza was obviously irritated, but refused to disobey Akane, but in doing so, she shook off the blood dripping from her forehead to show her trainer that her eyes were fine. But when she turned to look at Akane, she lost any advantage she had on the starmie who had quickly welled up a surf. Akane irritated and angry she had let her stupif worries interrupt Aziza’s fight, she immediately withdrew the flareon who was about to be crushed under a tidal wave.
”I’m sorry, she’s still new and has yet to be used for what I actually need her for. I don’t need her face getting sliced up any more than it already has been. Excellent battle starmie. Mr. Doom. Take the field.”
The show-offy puppy was eager to finally get his claws on the stage. He welled with pride when he flashed his shimmering houndoomite stone that dangled off his collar.
”I hope you don’t mind, Mr. Doom would love to show off his mega form in battle for you. Are you switching out as well?”
Doom snorted and exhaled smoke before he was engulfed in a majestic light. From the skull on his chest, sprouted four massive horns-two that curled out like tusks and two that curled up like a wreath. His massive fangs and claw grew longer and sharper and his horns folded up towards the ceiling.
