"I think I will, Shimmer needs a bit of a rest," Eira called with a small smile, motioning for her faithful battler to come back to her side so the next battle could take place. Shimmer was clearly not happy to be pulled out even after it won against the Flareon, since it felt like it could keep going and take on this over armored mutt. Once Shimmer was back at her side, Eira decided that it was time to use one of her newest companions and motioned for Cloud to head onto the field. Cloud floated lazily onto the field, the charm on its anklet shining as it grew fluffier and fluffier as it moved until he was almost completely made out of clouds.
"I believe a mega is the best way to fight a mega form," Eira smiled at the sight of the massive cloud on the field. "Shall we start, Cloud?"
Doom snorted and exhaled a massive breath of fire. It illuminated the room in an eerie light, but it was dashed when Doom stamped and whined like the puppy he was. When the altaria mega-evolved, he knew he wouldn’t stand much of a fight.
”Mr. Doom. I realize you don’t want to, but pull yourself together. We are the gym leaders and we must face any challenge. Start by singing some of its pretty feathers-hinder its flight, make it slow, trap it in a fire spin if you’re worried about the beak.”

"Let's play this safe since this is your first battle, okay Cloud?" Eira called to her companion, a little worried that Doom, being one of Akane's favorites, would be more of a challenge than it statistically should be. "Start things off with your Cotton Guard!"
Cloud gave a trill in response as he shook out his plume of cloud-like feathers, each of them fluffing even more and gaining a sheen to them that gave way that the extra fluffiness was also a means of extra protection for the large bird. Eira wasn't sure if that was going to be enough against Doom's fire, but she hoped the battle wouldn't last long enough for the feathers to be tested.
As ordered, Mr. Doom whined, but began charging at the prepping bird pokemon. The altaria was focused and somewhat restricted in movement while it fluffed up its feathers to protect itself. Within short-range, Akane knew any attacks would be futile with that much defense and no burns could take place, but she realized her subconscious demon that loved to piss Eira off. Mr. Doom released a massive fire spin, encasing the Altaria. Again, Akane knew the risk of getting that close, and the fact the giant dragon-bird would take no damage or burns, but those feathers probably wouldn’t survive.
”That’s good Doom! Keep burning those annoying feathers away! Altaria will be a little weaker if you keep burning it!”
Mr. Doom began throwing will-o-wisps within the fiery pillar, just trying to keep those extra feathers off of the altaria. But as the altaria regrew feathers, Mr. Doom grew tired from the constant usage of fire and needed a brief time to recover. Akane knew this and ordered for him to launch a few sludgebombs at the gorgeous bird. One way or another, Akane was going to muck up or burn off those feathers. Though it was all in good fun, because she knew, the other queen wouldn’t mind in the long run. An Altaria’s feathers usually will regrow even more beautiful than before.

Eira frowned at the onslaught on Cloud's beautiful feathers, hoping that the feathers wouldn't be permanently damaged with this battle. If they were damaged, it was going to take a lot of work to get them back up to the standard that she and Cloud liked them to be at.
"Use Moonblast!" Eira called, hoping that the attack would help get the attacks to stop coming. Cloud gave a twinkling call as it swooped high into the air, trying to summon the energy from the moon to send an attack towards Doom with a light pink, nearly purple, aura surrounding him as he began charging up the attack.
