Eira stood with a broad smile at Z. "Well done, that's quite the way to end the contest! I adore the use of the sculpture as the base of your own marvelous one, adding onto it instead of taking anything away. Your Froslass has quite some skill herself and I am quite pleased to see your new companion do so well here, Z."
She paused before motioning for the other competitors to come out and join Z on stage. "I think it is about time to announce the winner. I believe I have all of the scores in order now."
"Shall we go?" Mariko asked her three Pokemon at the motion to come back to the stage made by the judge of the contest. Luka and Celeste gave a nod, while Snowdrop merely tilted her head as though she didn't understand the question. Giving a nod back to her bird Pokemon, Mariko walked out onto the stage to await her judgement. She was fine with whatever she got since this was for fun, and to see what an actual contest entitles for the next time she joined one. Be it a good response, or a bad one, she at least knew what to expect from now on. Giving Luka and Celeste a look, she shrugged her shoulders signalling for the two of them to sit on her shoulders as they usually did. The two bird Pokemon immediately moved to do as she suggested and landed on her shoulders straightening themselves to look more regal where they perched.
Z released the rest of his pokemon from their balls so they could stand with him on stage as they recieved their score. Sparky stood close to Haxorus so her radiated heat would keep the dragon from freezing and Tsurara floated far from Sparky for a similar reason. Z sat atop Alloy's head and Volt stood by him with scorpio in front. Z chuckled as he realized he had quite the interesting and diverse team of friends that he kept with him.
Akane watched the other contestants with a critical eye. Analyzing their moves, she realized just how strict and specialized this contest was. She was thankful she had prepared Undine for contests, realizing her true potential in the field. Together, she, Silas, Doom, and Undine approached the stage next to Mariko awaiting her decision. She whispered to the woman she now stood next to,
”Your smoochum would have served you well in this stage. Should you try again, I recommend using it.” Her tone was stern, emotionless; but generally trying to be helpful.
If the woman ever entered the red queen’s contest, perhaps with her pokemon’s raw ability, she would have done better. She cleared her mind of the thoughts quickly though because this wasn’t her show today. Measuring the scale of Z’s sculpture to her own, hers was greater but Z only doing one gave him more room for detail most likely. She wasn’t sure of how this woman who seemed like her total opposite, would score these rounds. Patiently stroking Silas’ mane, she waited.
"Sanity is only an idea made real, to make those who are boring feel better." -Akane
Time to hear the judgement for the contest and find out who won. Having seen the other contestants performances, he was sure he knew where he would probably fall, though it really didn't matter. This was for fun, and to see if he could learn anything that could be useful within his gym when he was finally able to make it a reality. That dream was still far away, but he was starting to get good ideas, and this contest only helped reinforce them.
Stepping out on the stage, Maleko, along with Shard and Mistletoe, took their places next to the Red Queen with her three Pokemon of choice to be on stage with her. Now all he had to do was wait. Since all the contestants were now on the stage, the other queen would soon be making the announcements. Surprisingly, unlike his first contest, he didn't feel his stomach tying itself in knots. Maybe this was because he accepted the fact that he wasn't that good at contests, or because he had had fun through the whole thing, he wasn't sure. He wasn't about to complain though.
Eira looked at each of the contests one last time as she went over their scores in her head to make absolutely sure she didn't miss anything that could change the order at the last minute. Deciding that she was in fact done with scoring, she turned to her audience as her newest Pokemon, a baby Teddiursa named Toddle, came toddling out onto the stage in order to give out the small pouch of money to the last place contestant. "Ladies and gentlemen, our last place contestant gave a wonderful performance in its own right, but wasn't quite what was asked for in these halls. So, with a final score of 11, I give you our fourth place contestant, Maleko!"
Toddle hurried across the ice, using his tiny claws for traction so he could deliver the little pouch of poke to the young man.Maleko's final score:
Why was he not surprised? When the Teddiursa came and gave him the money, he gave the small Pokemon a smile and then, just as he had done in his first contest with Akane, he gave a small bowing nod to Eira. Shard, again, merely looked at the pouch with the money in it as a thing of importance, since the group was still on it's journey and lodging was not all that cheap, no matter where you went. Mistletoe, on the other hand, was trying to take the package of money from Maleko's hand out of curiosity, which made it impossible for the boy to places his hands by his side as he had done before. Instead, he stood with the hand that held the money, slightly raised up so that the deer Pokemon wouldn't get to the money, while he gave said Pokemon a look of reprimand in hopes to get her to stop behaving the way she was. The look, in turn, was still not seeming to work on the Pokemon who was eager to see what had been won.
Eira gave a small bow in response as Toddle hurried off the stage and to Eira, wanting to be in her arms now that he didn't have to fight with his older sister to be carried. Eira chuckled as she scooped up her newest baby, feeling calmer with the little one in her arms. "Third place was well deserved by a trainer who showed that young Pokemon could do well on the stage when given the right partner. Our third place winner is our other new competitor, with 18 points, please give it up for Mariko!"
Grace wobbled onto the stage with another pouch of poke to deliver to the young lady that had earned third place in this contest, still not used to her new size as she maneuvered across the stage.Mariko's final score:
Mariko stooped carefully to the level of the Chansey so she could receive the money. Just as she was about to reach out, however, Snowdrop reached out, while giggling to herself, and took the pouch cuddling it to her in a form of "keep away". Sighing and shaking her head slightly at the Pokemon's actions she gave the Chansey a small smile of thanks and stood back up all the while bouncing the Smoochum in her arms to get her distracted enough to take the money from her. While she attempted to distract Snowdrop, Mariko moved to do the same thing Maleko had by giving a small head bow to the Queen of Eirlys in thanks. She could actually use this money to pay bills and buy supplies for her clinic back in Pyron. That was definitely a plus to this, even if she had only won third place.
Eira paused once Mariko received her reward, turning to her audience with a broad smile. "My people and my guests, it is time to announce the winner that will be celebrated at our festival tonight, the winner of the second contest to be held here in Lapras Lounge, a hall built to hold the beauty and magnificence of all Pokemon and their trainers. The winner showed great skill in working with their Pokemon and incorporating themselves into the performance, along with showing off not only their Pokemon's beauty, but their's as well. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the champion of tonight's contest, Queen Akane of Celosia!"
Shimmer and Meta came out onto the stage as twin sparkling Starmie, both jumping high before landing before their respective contestant so they could hand over the money Z and Akane had won. Eira herself walked alongside Walrein, who was carrying an box carved from ice that held the badge Akane had just earned. Eira stopped in front of Akane before bowing respectfully to the fellow queen in a sign of congratulations. Walrein bowed as well, offering up the ice box to Akane so she could receive her badge.Z's final score:
The redhaired queen waited in her place for the starmies and their master to approach her. Bowing slightly, but respectfully, Akane accepted her parcel. Silas and Doom only straightened their posture and when Akane nodded her “okay” Undine slithered to the fellow queen to show off her beauty and to use a gentle aqua ring to receive the frozen box with the badge.
”My thanks to you. Undine, bow your respects.” grumpily but polite as possible, Undine bowed and passed the box to her master. Akane held it up for the audience to see the shiny badge.
"Sanity is only an idea made real, to make those who are boring feel better." -Akane
Z bowed graciously, taking the money and putting it aside. Inside he knew he probably wouldn't have been able to defeat akane. not with her level of skill and showmanship that she used in running her kingdom and as a contest judge in her own hall. Nevertheless, this was a good debut of his newest partners and he intended to enjoy the ceremony that took place afterwards. He was still a teenager after all.
Eira turned back to her audience with a deep bow before motioning towards all of the competitors so that they may receive applause as well for a job well done. "Please enjoy the festival that is going on tonight in the square! Do look forward to a surprise performance and many other surprises that will be happening tonight. I bid you all good evening until the start of the festival!"
With that, Eira quickly left, having had enough of having to handle people for the day and having to finish up some particular preparations for tonight's festivities.
Z returned his pokemon and decided to head out as well. His friends needed to rest and he needed to rest as well so he could enjoy the festivities without getting to tired. He thoroughly enjoyed the contest this time around and looked forward to attending the next one that opened up around the land. Eira was always a gracious host and Scorpio always liked to see Grace like a brother seeing his younger sibling.
