"It's a secret," Eira chuckled, really looking forward to it ever since it was put together. "But I can promise you that it will be a lot of fun to watch."
*Grace really wants to help Mama now that she is a big Pokemon too,* Grace chimed happily, clapping her hands together before letting them rest on her new egg. *And Grace is happy to have a real egg that Grace can share with Grace's friends whenever they are sad.*
Mariko sighed as she waited for the contest to start. Celeste and Luka were now starting to seem more comfortable in the cold around them, though they still seemed slightly uncomfortable in the climate not like their own. Snowdrop was now awake and was playing with the sleeve of Mariko's Kimono making small sounds of happiness, though none of them were loud enough to disturb the other trainers in the area. Mariko had to make a mental note to give the baby Pokemon a small cup of tea later to make her a little more relaxed since she was probably going to become hyper soon. "Snowdrop, sweetie, my Kimono is not a toy." She reprimanded softly moving a hand to remove the fabric in the little one's hold. Snowdrop stared at Mariko for a few moments before giving a pout and almost making a sound of distress. At last minute, however, she decided against it and just continued to pout about being reprimanded.
Scorpio smiled, *just be sure not to lose your special egg. It's a lot more fragile than the rock you used to have.* Z pouted a bit, showing his true age for a bit, "Awww, I really want to know. I guess I can wait then. I'll be sure to attend the after competition festival, though. I will look forward to seeing what this surprise performance is going to be. I also have a surprise that I've been waiting to reveal."
What was taking so long? Shouldn't the contest be starting already? Maleko looked down at Shard, who continued to stay snuggled into his hold, every once in a while glancing outwards to glare at the snow. "Is there e-even a host for this thing? It seems the only p-people I see are the ones who are trying to, or have signed up...." Shard gave a shivering shrug and glanced at the Pokeball resting on Maleko's hip that held Mistletoe inside. Looking down at the Pokeball as well, Maleko gave a sigh and moved one arm carefully towards it. "Yeah, you're r-right. Might as well give her a ch-chance to play in her element of choice. As a grass Pokemon of the w-winter she might really and truly l-like this." Shard gave a nod, while Maleko pushed the button to open the Pokeball. Immediately there was the familiar light of a Pokemon being released before Mistletoe appeared on the ground beside him shaking out in her usual canine like fashion. "Mist, you do realize you aren't a dog right...?" The amusement in Maleko's voice was enough to show he was teasing the deer Pokemon. Mistletoe merely bleated at him before trotting around in a circle and then running around playfully in the snow. "Oh yeah, t-this is definitely her happy place...." Shard gave a snort of agreement to Maleko's statement.
*Grace's egg is fine,* Grace said, patting her egg happily. She clearly took pride in her evolution and the fact that she no longer had to pretend to have an egg like she once had to. Even though she was still young in comparison to Eira's other Pokemon, she was now quite powerful in her own right and ready to prove herself to the others. *Grace will be a great partner to Mama.*
"I can assure you that the surprise is well worth the wait," Eira said with a bright smile, bringing out one of her pokeballs to bring out Walrein. "Will you go see if the other trainers are ready? I think things should start soon."
Scorpio patted Grace on the head with his claw, trying to give a comforting smile, though it looked sort of out of place on his intimidating face, *that's good. Maybe I'll get to see how strong you are one day.* "So we're going to start the contest soon?" asked Z, "great! I have some new partners that you've never seen in action yet." As Z said that he unconsciously fingered two new pokeballs that he wore on his necklace.
*Mama is letting Grace play with Papa tonight!* Grace said excitedly, dancing around a little bit in joy at the prospect of performing with Walrein. *Papa and Grace get to play in front of the whole world at the party tonight! Mama is even letting Grace stay up to play!*
"I can't wait to see how you end up working with them tonight," Eira said with a small chuckle as Walrein headed off to find someone who would know the answer he needed. "I hope you have enough experience to be able to use my surprise well."
"I might need to grab an umbrella though," said Z, "are the contestant booths covered by ceilings or something to protect them against weather changing moves that pokemon might use in an appeal? Also, will we be limited to a single pokemon or can we use multiple ones for the rounds? I have a few ideas and if we could use multiple for the appeal round, then I have some colorful contest moves that I could use."
"You may use two Pokemon per round and they don't have to be the same Pokemon if you don't want them to be once you find out what the second round will be like," Eira informed him, frowning at his batch of questions. Why would they need umbrellas inside? She didn't think any of his Pokemon knew weather changing moves like hers did, but she could be wrong since he did say he had a few new surprises up his sleeve. "About having covers, we could do a quick build of something, but it may obstruct people's view of the stage if we do so."
"I'll stick to the umbrella," said Z, "it will come in handy for what I have in mind for my act. I won't spoil any more, but I'm sure you will be impressed. We've been practicing since we got wind of this new contest. It should be quite fun to attend." Scorpio walked back up to Z and let Z sit on his back so he could rest his legs, "well, I can't wait to get started." Z smiled as scorpio carried him to where Haxorus was sitting and resting.
Mariko could not help but feel glad when it seemed like the contest would finally be starting soon. The reason how she deduced this, the amount of people moving away from the front area heading towards the seating area. Looking up, she gave a small whistle to get Celeste and Luka's attention causing both bird Pokemon to fly down to her and take a place on her shoulders. It may have been a weird site for those around her, but it was something Mariko was familiar with when she was alone at her house. "Alright you three, let me make this clear. We are here to have fun, if we win, great, if not fine. We are not going to show any sort of resentment or malice." She said softly to the two bird Pokemon, and to the Smoochum in her arms. She knew that sometimes contestants could become upset with the results, it was only natural, so she was going to make sure and not add to the tension by being one of those people. Celeste and Luka both gave their own versions of a nod, while Snowdrop merely gave a small sound, that could or could not have been of agreement to what was being said.
Eira decided that it was about time things got started. From what she knew, they had five contestants now and that seemed like it would be enough for what she wished to do at this point. Standing to go onto the stage, she decided to address the other queen that was in the room. "Akane, I hope you are ready for this competition because I think your Fire types can either shine greatly or fail tremendously with what I have prepared for everyone."
She gave a slight bow to the red queen before she headed for the stage with Walrein following after her, having come back from his mission while she had addressed Akane. Eira patted Walrein's head before she turned to look at the gathered audience, taking in a deep breath to calm herself and ready herself for her opening speech. "Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the second contest to be held here in Lapras Lounge's lovely halls! Tonight promises to be spectacular in every sense with the line up that we have tonight! For those of you still not used to the cold weather we have to offer here, please feel free to borrow a coat that we have prepared before the contestants come on stage. To my contestants, please wow us with your combinations and with your beautifully trained Pokemon. I expect to see perfect teamwork with you and your Pokemon pairs that shows off not only your bond with your Pokemon, but also your skill as a trainer and eye as an artist! Ladies and gentlemen, please help me welcome Miss Mariko to the stage to start tonight off!"Ice type Pokemon: +4 Ice type move: +2 Water Type Pokemon: +2 Water type move: +1 Beauty ranked move: +2 Cute ranked move: +1 Combination moves: +2 Description (how well you describe your routine): +1-5

Z smirked. He felt that he was ready this time and had some pokemon that would be able to put on a very good show without demolishing the arena this time around. he already had some moves planned for the two of them that would be sure to wow the audience. He knew not to use sparky as she would melt the stage while she performed, so that left five other pokemon that he could enter.
Upon hearing her introduction, Mariko walked out on to the stage and stood in the center. She had told Celeste to wait on the side of the stage for her, Luka, and Snowdrop at the end of their performance.
"I offer my humble greetings to you all." She began, bowing slightly while Luka left his perch on her shoulder. She then placed Snowdrop on the ground. "My name is Mariko, and I come from Ecruteak City in Johto. I hope you will find my performance to be enjoyable." She then moved back slightly. "To start, we know that the elements of fire and ice are not compatible. We also know that young Pokemon do not have to discipline to control themselves alone in some cases. Yet, we we bring fire and ice together, and experience to balance out the youth, we can show a third side to the story. Allow my Luka and little Snowdrop to show you this. Luka, Snowdrop, if you would." She said moving back more so that she could allow for the first display to occur. "Please show them the amount of trust you have in each other, and in turn how much trust I have in you to perform without a single command. Just like in dancing, all cues are taken from the music, and in performance you take your cues from the other performers with you."
At the cue given, Snowdrop looked up at the Fletchling flying above her whom looked back down at her and nodded. Immediately the small Smoochum took a deep breath and then released an Ice Beam straight up towards Luka. The Fletchling in turn began to gather flames around it for a Flame Charge, but instead of just going straight into the Ice Beam, he began to start up the moves for Acrobatics as well before he flew into the beam. The instant he was in, he began cutting through the Ice Beam making parts of it look like shapes for a few moments before they were covered back up by the beam. After a while longer Snowdrop got bored and stopped the beam while Luka stopped his Acrobatic Flame Charge The two stared at each other before Luka began to use Roost, the shining feathers beginning to fall on the stage while Snowdrop gave a small giggle and then began to dance through the falling feathers, a song beginning to flow from her as she started to use Sing. The song was pretty, but it soon started to seemingly affect Luka who slowly flapped to the ground and landed in a pile of the feathers left behind by the Roost. Upon seeing the Fletchling on the ground, Snowdrop burst into a Fake Tears, and struck a dramatic pose on the stage, almost as though she was in a play. As though continuing the performance, Luka opened his eyes and gave a call alerting Snowdrop to his awakening causing the baby Pokemon to stop the crying and give a happy cheer before hugging the bird Pokemon. It was after the hug ended that the two then moved to face the audience, Luka taking flight into the air while Snowdrop swayed on the ground until they both fell into a bow.
Mariko took that time to move forward then, reaching where Snowdrop was standing and picking the baby Pokemon up, while Luka took that moment to perch on her shoulder. "I hope you all enjoyed the performance, and I hope you could see the trust that not only I have in my Pokemon, but the trust my Pokemon have in each other. No matter the amount of experience any Pokemon can be a performer. Thank you." She said before giving her own bow. She then stood and waited for further instructions, not sure if she was to leave the stage yet or not.
"That was certainly different than what I am used to seeing in performances, Miss Mariko," Eira complemented the new contestant with a small laugh. She thoroughly enjoyed just how cute the two Pokemon had been together, though she wasn't all too sure about how well they showed the clash of fire and ice like had been promised. "To not have a single command given shows that your Pokemon have worked together a lot and shows just how much trust you have in each other. While I knew it was a performance, your darling Smoochum's Fake Tears nearly did bring a tear to my own eyes at the very sight of her crying like that. Overall it was a wonderful performance to witness and I'm happy to announce your starting score of 13. Thank you for opening the contest in such a spectacular way, now please relax while the rest of the contests make their appeals."
Eira paused before she addressed the audience with a broad smile. "After such an adorable performance that easily stole the hearts of many here, I wonder how the fierce Lady Akane will do as she once again graces our halls with her presence?"
