Prasha looked at the large clock in the Den and checked in with all of his team to make sure the preparations for every square inch was ready for the Carvanha Springs first annual Festival. Prasha had kept it a secret for long enough and could not wait to have his guests participate in different challenges and of course events and fine dining, some of his guests he assumed did not have the usual luxuries of culinary arts. This festival would showcase the very finest foods that Asemon had to offer. Prasha posted a memo on the wall that read the Festival's main events as well as the breaks and time for his guests to relax.
3. Tea Tasting: Try all of the Inn's Blends. Attire: Casual
4. Pokemon Field Day: A Day of Fun and Challenges: Prizes (TBD) 1. Obstacle course 2. Gladiator 3. Pokemon/Trainer Cooking Competition 5. Master Prasha's Dinner and Closing of the Festival.
The red haired queen didn’t agree with the idea of her being just as important as her people, all she could ever see herself as, was their avatar, their vessel for their government. Prasha even mentioned Akane was his queen, which was no longer true. That ceased being true as soon as he moved away from Celosia, the queen taking his comment literally.
"If it means anything, my Lady, I have always thought of you as a friend. Let’s get this thing started shall we?” His voice was smooth as ever. Akane gave a subtle “en” in agreement, it being all she mustered.
As Prasha turned away, the red-haired woman slouched a little more, inhaled deeply, and followed her gracious host. She reunited with her friends and acquaintances, and the group poured into the dining room. It was massive, and very impressive. She mulled over the memo they were told of, and realized after dinner she would need to change into her ball-gown. She realized how bored her two guards must be, milling about in the hotel upstairs.
Akane and her lovely Aziza took to one of the heads of the dining table, assuming Prasha would take the other, and stood behind her chair, waiting for the other guests to stand behind theirs-as was proper etiquette. Akane gestured for Zandrophin and Mariko to stand at places near her. She had hoped Zandrophin and Mentus would sit near her so she could easily take time to apologize to them for her rude behavior earlier. She also was more than curious to hear what the self-made woman known as Mariko had been up to, she was a very fascinating person to the queen. Likewise, her intense gaze landed upon Adian at one point, the fire in her eyes dulled, yet not extinguished.Sorry, not my best/longest post. Been busy

When Zandrophin heard the announcement for the dinner, he was curious as to what would be served. He was no stranger to finer foods, by any stretch of the imagination; as a CEO of the largest trading company on the continent, he was able to easily acquire such things. Still, he was sure his old associate had picked up a few tricks in his travels. He entered the space where the table was, noticing that Akane had already taken a place at a head of the table.
Of course she would...
Zandrophin smiled internally and scratched his partner's ears.
Look at it this way...all the focus won't be on us, for once. It's rare we sit at a table with a group without everyone watching the psychic freak.
Zandrophin moved to the seat directly to Akane's right, so he'd be free to leave if he needed to. Always have an escape route, he always said. However, before he took his place at that chair, he made an effort to ask,
"May, I?"
He had a feeling she wouldn't mind, but Zanrophin had not gotten to where he was by making assumptions based on feelings. Mentus, who was feeling rather hungry contemplated gnawing on his spoon. Meanwhile, Zandrophin wondered who else would show up.

When Aidan heard that there was to be a formal dinner, he was surprised. No one had bothered to tell him he needed formal wear until an hour or so in advance. He still wasn’t entirely sure what was going on (some sort of festival) and they might as well be making it up as they went for all he understood it. Luckily he had one of those old outfits he’d once thought he might wear to one of the fancier gyms or to some event in the city. It was several years old and was a bit too small, but not so small that anyone would notice, he thought. Uncomfortable, but not distractingly so, and it was nice material. It was a black shirt, similar to the one that he had worn before, with a silver vest over it that matched his hair and his eyes. His pants were also black, and on his shirt he wore a silver tie. He found some gel that he used to slick all his hair back rather than just one side as he normally did. He also wore his pendant under his shirt again, where he could feel it. He thought he looked quite dashing.
Bragor had not yet come back, but it would not be long. Aidan would simply keep the dish near him, and it would be easy to get Bragor to come to him without any disruption. He showed up to the event on time, wondering what would happen. As he stood off the side, pondering the scene, the queen and her psychic friend sat down at one end of the table, and she gestured for a third, a woman that Prasha had been talking to earlier, to sit down next to her. From the sideways glare she shot him, he clearly was not intended to sit next to the queen.
There were still four seats open, the head of the table clearly being intended for the host. Aidan recalled that another would be for that fellow with the odd-colored Kabuto… he had seemed interesting… and who was the last one for? He didn’t remember anyone, but obviously he’d be next to them and the Kabuto trainer. And for his other neighbor, he had a choice between Prasha, the psychic, and this new woman. The woman seemed kind, but would probably be absorbed in conversation with the queen… so he took the seat next to the host. Perhaps they’d get to catch up on what had happened after their encounter in Pyron so long ago. But perhaps not. He waited.
Kazi smiled as he walked over to his seat. It had been quite some time since he had been to the Inn and he did miss the relaxing environment that the place provided. He was wearing a nice suit along with a fedora he had picked out at one of the Starfort shops, and his Pokemon were at his side as usual...well, most of them. Ruby was locked safely in her pokeball to keep her out of trouble at this formal reception.
As Kazi looked at the list of events for the festival, he couldn't help but chuckle, "I really should have brought Sparky with me. She's going to be mad that she missed out on the chance to participate in the Gladiator event."
With a laugh Kazi took his seat, with Kamakiri and Kit sitting on his shoulders. Once again, he absently fiddled with the object he now kept in his pocket after that incident in the Starfort mines. He could most certainly remember the trouble he went through that time.
Mariko was surprised when the queen waved her over to sit next her. She wasn’t sure if it would be okay, but considering that she was invited, and that it would probably be considered rude to not accept the invitation, she moved over to the other seat available. Celeste took perch on the back of her chosen seat as soon as she moved to stand behind the chair, while Snowdrop looked around in wonder and made sounds towards Celeste who answered in patient tweets. Mariko found the scene endearing, and it calmed her from the worry she originally had. Even with the woman next to them’s strong aura, the two Pokemon were calm and that made her feel a little better.
While she waited for the rest of the guests to choose their seats, she thought over the posted schedule with a small external frown pointed towards the chair in front of her. She didn’t have a ball gown with her. All she had was her relaxation Kimonos. Though they were gorgeous, they were not something to be worn to formal functions. That and the Pokemon field day also had her a little worried. Maybe she could ask Prasha for her and her Pokemon to be excused from the first two parts, as she would much rather be on the sidelines in case the Pokemon were hurt during the events. She had no problem with cooking with her Pokemon though.
As these thoughts fluttered through her head, she didn’t notice what was going on around her.
Maya walked into the dining hall, still in her decidedly not formal clothes but at least more cleaned up. She had showered quickly, allowed Elly to dry her hair with her flames and then changed into her second set of clothes. They were no more fancy or formal than her other clothes but at least these were clean. She had washed her hair thoroughly and at least tried to put some nice earrings and small pieces of jewelry in her long braided hair.
Despite rushing to get read there was only one seat left available to her at the table and she felt decidedly underdressed. She didn't recognize a few of the people, while others were very familiar if not been seen in some time. She was tempted to turn around and leave. If it weren't for Elly and Dororo standing close behind her as support she might have. Plus it would just be rude.
Elly promised to be on her best behavior though the ghost couldn't help swinging her ghostly scones around. As Maya took the last seat left, mostly around strangers, Dororo took a spot behind her, leaning against the wall and watching the others with narrowed pink eyes. She took a deep breath, deciding that she would not freak out. She could handle a social situation. She had faced worse than a dinner party.
"You're ignoring me for a dinner party?"
Much worse.
"You look like a bum. Just so you know," her personal eldritch horror said.
"May I?" Zandrophin’s smug voice indicated he already knew permission would be granted, if not welcomed, and Akane gave a subtle nod of agreement. Her violet eyes flicked over and absentmindedly watched Mentus toy with one of the many spoons she had gifted to him.
On the other hand, her eyes, glazed over and dim, followed the brunette woman with sapphire eyes as she nervously accepted the queen’s invitation to sit beside her and Zandrophin. The red-haired woman had forgotten how timid the other woman could be, another reason she would work well with Zandrophin who was notably more outspoken. ’Oh whoops.’ Mentus probably heard that. Then again, he seemed quite taken with his spoon.
Akane’s long slender fingernails tapped impatiently against the table’s lacquered surface, each tap revealing how solid and sturdy the table was, but of course it had to be in a pokemon friendly environment. Aziza seemed to grow quite bored as well, hunger obviously giving way to irritability and the queen stroked her soft and luminous mane, the heat comforting her as her hand swept over the velvety fur.
A strange and peculiar yet familiar presence could now be felt as Maya entered the room. Though her senses were not nearly as attuned as a psychic type pokemon’s, Akane knew she had felt that same sense of dread gnawing at her chest cavity before. Maya had never gotten around to showing her the object she had “rescued” from that temple, but Akane knew it was exactly that which was causing her discomfort. Suddenly her eyes darted around the room looking towards Mentus and any of the other aura-sensitive pokemon. Aziza, was not one of those pokemon and she looked as bored as ever when Akane’s eyes reunited with her onyx orbs.
For now, she was glad Amir the medicham rested safely in his pokeball, though she knew if a human such as herself could feel it, a psychic type pokemon even in their ball could feel it. Acccidently, she shot an intense, burning glare towards Maya, as if to say ’Why on earth did you bring that here?!’
”Zandrophin,” she mouthed to make her thoughts very clear so that if Mentus was struggling in the presence of the cursed object, they could still hear her, ”you and I need to speak with Maya the temple priest after this is all said and done. Do you understand?” Her mouthing was subtle and her face had resorted back to being bored to cover up her concern. She flicked her eyes to him to confirm his answer, but continued observing each of the present pokemon, to make sure none of them had become alarmed.
’Why on Arceus’ green earth would you bring that here? With so many people and pokemon present? That thing could be a ticking time bomb.’ She smiled sweetly when her gaze reunited with Maya to try and erase any bad impressions from the first glare.I focused very heavily on Maya here, do not feel like you have to join in here. Just be aware psychic types and aura-sensitive/trained people will probably be very uncomfortable. Though most people and pokemon would not be.

Receiving the expected nod of approval from Akane, Zandrophin took his place behind his seat, hands behind his back, and waited for more to arrive...and arrive they did.
First the enigma called Aidan entered. Zandrophin frowned internally; he disliked being ill-informed. He claimed he lived outside of Pyron City, but there'd been no mention of him save for that one encounter with Prasha some time ago. Two possibilities arose from this, he was lying or telling a half-truth. Either way, while he may live outside the city, he did not live near it...and "outside" Pyron City could reasonably be anywhere else. While the man sat at the far end of the table from him, Zandrophin still planned to keep an eye on him the entire time; he had no reason to trust a man he'd barely heard of, and if he caused any issues, he'd be ready.
Next to enter was the young man from Starfort...the mining executive, if his memory served him well enough. Zandrophin made sure to give him a small nod as he entered as a professional courtesy, businessman to businessman. Sure, he may have bumbled his way into this scenario by forgetting about common courtesy towards his host, but the bounty of the earth which was brought from his town was nothing to scoff at; a few mistakes here and there were not unforgivable.
Mariko entered shortly after, and Zandrophin noticed Akane's gesture towards her to take the seat opposite of him. Once again, Zandrophin stood a bit straighter as the good doctor approached. He took a moment to rationalize why this continued to happen; he was standing next to the Queen of Celosia, and yet he felt more relaxed around her than around Mariko. Then a thought hit him--Akane had allowed him into her mind. Though he had contacted her uninvited before, allowing a psychic into ones mind was a great show of trust and brings a level of comfort and relaxation just by knowing a bit more about someone than surface emotions. Still...
She does look lovely, Sir.
Zandrophin playfully pushed his partner's head and took his spoon, placing it in his pocket. Moments later, the spoon floated back to Mentus' tail, and he resumed nibbling on it.
Your thoughts; I'm simply relaying them back to you.
Zandrophin bowed slightly as Mariko took her place behind her chair, though only a few hours had passed since she'd arrived. Still, it was proper etiquette to greet a lady, no matter how much time had passed. Mentus sent a small ping to Akane, acknowledging what the Queen had been thinking earlier. Finally, Maya entered the room, and something felt wrong...very wrong. Zandrophin started slightly, but kept any outward show of surprise to a minimum; he didn't wish to alarm anyone else. When Maya entered, he suddenly felt like his skull was being split open, but he maintained the majority of his composure, the only sign of his discomfort being an increased grip on his chair. He could feel Mentus was slightly curling and uncurling his tail while trying to use Calm Mind around the room to keep the pain from increasing, and to help alleviate any stress from any others who may be feeling it, as few of them as that would be. All the while, Zandrophin began to have vivid flashbacks; screams, a town razed to the ground, death and destruction everywhere...and that man...standing there above him, with a satisfied smile on his face. Through all of this, Zandrophin heard the Queen's thoughts,
"Zandrophin, you and I need to speak with Maya, the temple priest, after this is all said and done. Do you understand?"
As the pain became manageable for him, Zandrophin gave his retort,
"Of course...have the psychic talk to the ghost girl...sounds like a great plan. I know she's not dangerous, I've traveled with her before...but whatever that thing she's got with her is...that's another story." Alright, people...just a reminder, as Akane mentioned in her post in the festival thread...if your character is not tuned into the world of auras or psychics, or you have no Pokemon with some such attunment, as I figure some of you are, you cannot have a personal reaction to Maya's tag-along. You can, however, notice any changes from those of us that are. For those of us that are in tune with such things, make an effort to give these people something to go off of. Mine was small, but that's just how Zan works; he's been around this stuff a long time, he can hide it fairly well. I will, eventually, ramp up what happens as time goes on...so just be looking for the clues. I don't want to have to police this...but I have been reading almost everyone's other threads...and I'm sure I can find evidence to disprove any sudden link to the world of psychics and energy from anyone here, if I need to use it. Thanks, guys...continuity is paramount, here!!!

Do not fight for a cause or for what you believe in: Fight for yourself, because who you are rarely changes. Zandrophin
Finally in walked the other two- the fellow with the funny lime-green Kabuto he’d seen earlier took the seat between him and the queen’s non-shady friend, the Kabuto and a Sylveon on his shoulders. He supposed that was something to interest him for a little while. After him came a rather dreary-looking woman, followed by a Greninja and a Chandelier, who was dressed only semi-formally. Aidan was glad not to be alone in that- his vest was the only thing he’d really spent any money on. He studied her for a moment but was unable to get any real read on her, other than that she was probably not going to be very talkative, and judging by her Pokemon she was strong. She took the last seat across from him.
Aidan sighed through his nose and leaned back in his seat, thinking about the schedule. In a group where it was becoming clearer every second that he was far, far out of his league, it was a good thing that only two of the events had any actual competition. He felt a twinge of shame at that thought, that he should be okay with being so thoroughly outclassed. He’d have to do something, perhaps training later tonight, to work through that. He hated being overshadowed.
He reached up to his shirt and through the fabric pressed a thumb to the pendant lying against his skin, pressing the hard, pointy stone so that the finger started hurting a bit. It was enough to be here and fighting, for now. He would grow. He put his hand back down and looked around the room again. The queen and the shady man appeared to conversing entirely in winces and glares, and the woman next to them appeared to be off in a daze, as Aidan had been. The Kabuto-man appeared to be fiddling with something in his pocket, and the newer woman was looking around the table like him. Perhaps she expected something to happen.
Aidan continued glancing around, rested his chin on his hands, and tried not to look too bored.
As Kazi watched Akane, due to a mixture of respect and intimidation, he noted that the Red Queen and the CEO that he had dealings with in the past seemed to be having a mental discussion. While the young CEO of the Starfort Mining Corporation was no psychic, he was quite skilled at watching body language due to him learning to speak to the Pokemon on his team. It seemed they were troubled by something and that made him worry, as the two of them were quite powerful in their own rights, so something that would worry them, worried him.
"Adamantine," he murmured as he gripped the item in his pocket, feeling its weight increase as he held it, "something may be wrong. Lady Akane doesn't easily get this worried from what I've seen."
"Troubling?" asked a distorted voice in his head.
"Perhaps," replied Kazi, "Though I hope I'm wrong. I did want to enjoy myself here."
"Rest," said the voice, "Deserved."
Kazi nodded, acknowledging the wisdom of the ancient pokemon and gazed around the rest of the room at the other people, petting Kit's fur while doing so to appease the fairy type.
Everyone but the host was in the dining area now, and Mariko decided then to come back to reality from her thoughts. She gave a small sigh, then realized that Snowdrop was trying to get her attention, while pointing at Zandrophin, who looked a bit tense. “Sweetheart, pointing is rude remember?” She chided gently and quietly, lowering the baby Pokemon’s hand, though she kept an eye on the man in front of her while she did so. Her eyes then went over to the queen at her side and noticed the same thing, that she too was a little tenser than before.
It was obvious that it was something big, and they were tense enough that even Celeste had fluffed up slightly at the body language of the others around them. Mariko rubbed Snowdrops foot, which was closest to her hand in the hold she had the Pokemon in, and reached the other hand out to stroke Celeste’s head. The actions calmed the Pokemon some and it made Mariko glad she had decided to do so. “Pardon my being quiet. I seemed to have gotten caught up in thought. Have I missed anything important?” She questioned politely to those around her.
Maya sharply sucked in a breath at Akane's glare. She couldn't miss that. She clutched at the bag tied to her hip, jagged and sharp object under the fabric. Oh yes, this was a very bad idea indeed. Giratina's influence outside of his dimension was completely undetectable to most unless he tore open a rift. Even then these small tears could not allow him to escape the Distortion World he was confined to. Who or what put those confines there was something Maya could hardly grasp. It was old and powerful. Older than space. Older than time. All Maya had done to repair the centuries of working its way out was to invoke just a fraction of those powers again. The orb and ritual had been immensely helpful in that respect.
It had worked but the repercussions, however, were less than stellar. The Griseous Orb was both the thing that sealed and granted it power in their world. Maya could only do so much to close off the Pokemon's means of escape and influence on their world. It was more powerful than she. As a result, after using the orb to close the portal in Yurei no Machi her own spiritual powers became inexpiably tethered to it. Chained. So long as she kept it on her it could lessen Giratina's influence on the world. It also granted her the annoying and terrifying companion.
"Such interesting people here~"
However, Maya hadn't been around many physic senstive people lately. They couldn't feel Giratina and the extent of his powers. Maya thought that was fine. If she carried the burden of his jeering and manipulation that was ok. The town she had saved was better for it. She hadn't taken into account what it could mean for those that could detect him.
Maya looked down at her lap. "Oh shit," she said softly, realization dawning on her. Zandrophin looked to be in pain. Maya could feel it despite the near flawless mask of her old traveling companion. Giratina was enjoying the attention and reactions of those people that could sense him.
"Very interesting indeed..."
"Stop." She thought firmly, trying to tamp its power down with her own. Dampen, it like rain on a roaring fire. Giratina hissed in reply, not pleased with her meddling but the intensity lessened. Just a little as she tried to reign it in. Sweat broke out on the back of her neck. Elly trilled a little in concern but Maya just mentally reassured her. This was not the place to cause a scene.
"I don't believe we've missed anything," she said with a smile to the young lady with brown hair. Play it cool Maya. Wait it out. She avoided Akane's sweet smile. She could imagine she wasn't pleased but it wasn't like Maya planned to be here. "Does anyone know when our host will arrive?" Sorry about the wait. I've been dealing with a lot of things last month. Hope this will suffice! I tried to explain a little of what Giratina's connection to Maya is. Spiteful little creature that it is.
