Athanatos had been walking for longer than he could remember. He was cursing his poor luck and absently wondering just what he had done to deserve what was happening to him. He had appeared in the desert filthy and tired with no water. He had only his precious pokemon with him and his poor Angelos was hiding in the shadow of his jacket while his espurr, Adetos, sat atop his head as usual. The ghastly was not handling the brutal direct sunlight well and for that matter neither was he.
"So hot... why did it have to be a desert? Why not a swamp or a forest or anything with some shade at least?"
Adetos chirped as he swiveled his ears around, searching for something that they could use for shelter. Athanatos would have done the same thing had it not been for the heat making him feel more than a little delirious. Angelos grumbled from inside the jacket. Athanatos swiped at his forehead and trudged on towards the mountain range ahead of him. It was so hot he thought he might just catch fire then and there. He had to keep going though because there was simply nothing else he could do. So he went on.
"How far... can these... damn... mountains... be...?"
He managed to make it a few more feet until he abruptly yelped. He had kicked something hard causing a sharp pain in his foot. Before he could question what he had kicked a great roar accompanied by rushing sand filled the air. He found himself staring down two angry hippowdons.
"Oh come on..."
So he ran as fast as he could, the sand billowing around him as he tried to flee the rampaging pokemon he knew he was far too weak to fight or perceive. He did managed to escape but not without being covered from head to toe in uncomfortable sand and dizzy. Adetos too was looking worse for wear, having just escaped after Angelos had managed to put one of the pursuing pokemon to sleep. Athanatos had enough mental faculties to wonder why the world was spinning before he finally fell into comfortable darkness despite the frantic tugging on his energies by both his pokemon.
When he fell over Angelos peeked out from his partner's jacket and shared a look with Adetos. They had to get him out of there so the espurr began dragging the prone form to the closest energy source he could find, hoping it would be close enough to get there before they were attacked again.
A few hours later after the hot sun had burned the human's skin an angry red they managed to find the hidden entrance to a cave. With some relief Adetos fell over in exhaustion after dragging his trainer and friend across who knew how many miles. Now that they were in the darkness Angelos reached for his trainer's weak consciousness and then went flying down the halls in search of water or anything that could help Athanatos. Instead he found a human girl surrounded by pokemon that he circled around rapidly before shooting off back towards the still passed out Athanatos. He had found help!
