The brisk morning chill tore through everything, even his fluffy coat, the logs of his homey cabin, and his skin straight to the bone. His teeth were chattering, and he suddenly wished desperately to live in Celosia with Mariko, but it was cheaper to live in Eirlys. Generally the cold didn’t bother this hardworking man, but he decided he should go buy a new coat later-this one was a hand-me-down. Besides, he had some extra cash since he had registered to be a gym leader. ’Oh shi-‘ The silver eyed man remembered today was his first day for accepting challengers and he had received a letter specifically from the Queen requesting a battle. He was going to be late!!
Tsubame released Kaname to go ahead on and let in the Queen so she wouldn’t have to wait out in the cold. He broke into a run and quickly realized, he overdressed for this workout. Bursting through the doors, panting and sweating, throwing his coat down, he breathlessly stammered,
”Welcome *huff* you’re highness! *huff* I apologize *huff* for the wait!”
He continued breathing heavily whilst he hung his coat up revealing a thin red sweater. He growled at Kaname when the sneasel sniggered at him. ”Hey, running in the cold *huff* is harder than in warmer weather. *huff* UNLESS YOU’RE AN ASSHOLE ICE-TYPE!!!” He went for a weak slap even though Kaname was obviously out of range. After their spat, Kaname practically drug Tsubame’s arm over to the queen.
”Your highness, I apologize for being late! I was chopping firewood and lost track of time. And it is a long way over to this gym from my cabin.” He wasn’t sure how to greet her or show his respect or just what should he do. So he did what he saw most business men do-stretched out his burly hands for a shake. ’Wait you idiot, they’re all sweaty!’ He quickly retracted his hand and apologized, and awkwardly turned into the dark maze of the long-abandoned building, he was still working to renovate.
”Watch yourself my lady. The floors have a tendency of… falling through.” He said off-handedly so as to not alarm her. Is she was smart, she would only step where he did. And by where he did, of course he meant by where Kaname did. It wasn’t too long they weaved their way through the winding halls. He really needed to get some light in there, oh! Cobweb. ’Damn spineraks.’ he grumbled. Finally they found two heavy double doors that lead into a slightly lighter room, where there were rays of light dripping down from tiny patches and holes in the ceiling. Before taking his place, he held out one of the pure silver and sapphire gemmed badges he was granted under the authority of the gym leaders association. Ha! He could never afford even one of those himself. He let it glint and glimmer in one of the light rays that slipped in through the cracks of the crummy ceiling to prove that it was worth her time, before he slid it within the pure silver box the badges waited in.
”Alright my queen. This is Kaname as you so well know. You will be facing him last. Today I only wish to use two pokemon. You draw your pokemon first; not much of an advantage considering you know what type I will be using, but that’s how my gym works. If you would, these halls mark the edge of the field so it is quite large. I also won’t allow any pokemon to use dig or earthquake because this is an actual floor so I apologize greatly if it hinders you. I need to post a sign on that one.” He shivered at the thought of what could be under that room.
