Another slightly blinding flash...and another bout with ringing ears, and Zandrophin shook his head after the teleportation. He released Nicole and took in a deep breath. The noise of the market off in the distance.
"Ah, it's good to have water in the air again. Welcome back to Pyron City, Miss Nicole. I trust you enjoyed the trip?"
Zandrophin took out a pokeball with a mix of brown, yellow, and gray in a camouflage pattern. Another of his biome pokeballs: the Sand ball. He activated it and a small dust devil masked the arrival of an Excadrill.
"Miss Nicole...meet Ruta. She's going to help us in the next part of the plan. Ruta, my dear...if you would," his tone suddenly darkening, "...find where the rats are hiding."
Ruta was blind...but her other senses were heightened to compensate. She could feel the earth beneath her and could feel vibrations to identify what was around her. Her hearing was also improved along with her sense of smell. This made her an excellent digger...as she would soon prove. Zandrophin once again addressed Nicole,
"Step as lightly as possible, so as not to confuse her. There is technically a front door to this place...but I prefer to add some shock value to this."
As Ruta began to pinpoint where the best place to strike would be, Zandrophin followed behind her, signalling Nicole to do the same.

Nicole felt slightly uncomfortable and disoriented after the Teleport had ended. She had never traveled like that ever before, and so it was taking her a while to reorient herself with the ground. She had barely comprehended Zandrophin telling her about the Pokemon he had just released before the other was telling her something else and waving her to follow him. Watching his movements, she began to follow after him and the Pokemon she finally comprehended as the “Ruta”, Zandrophin had been talking about. If she was going to continue being this out of it, she wondered if she was going to be of any use.
Slowly, however, as they walked, she could feel her mind catching up to full capacity, and for a short moment she gave a small frown of annoyance at the fact that it had taken her that long to get herself together. She hoped that Zandrophin hadn’t noticed how out of it she had been. She didn’t want to seem useless. But there was something about what they were doing that had her confused. “Isn’t there already an entrance to the place we want to go?” She whispered, trying to not disturb the Pokemon which was their guide. “Wouldn’t it be better to split up and go at this from two sides? Or would that be too expected?”

Zandrophin could sense Nicole's disorientation...which was to be expected for a first time trip. He tried to use Calm Mind to ease the mental confusion, but he was unsure if it was helping. He thought for a moment about her suggestion.
"If you can handle yourself coming in through the entrance, then I see no problem with splitting up. I get in amongst them...make a racket, and you come in and suggest the alternative of turning the place over to us."
He pointed down the street towards a small general store. Mentally, he spoke to her,
"Behind that building...on the southwest corner...there's a small hatch. It leads to a stairway. Take the path to the left, and you'll bypass their patrols. You should be able to enter the main amphitheater, where I will be, without any trouble. Be aware...I've dealt with this rabble for too long...and they've crossed me too many times before."
At that moment, Ruta hunched over and pointed at the ground in front of her, just a few yards from the road.
"Ah...there it is. Unless you have any questions..."
He paused to open Squirt's Dive ball, then applied his stone to MegaEvolve him.
"We'll see you down there."
Ruta began to dig very carefully, starting out slow, but would increase in speed to get the full shock value of entry later.

“I think I can manage. I’ll see you when we’re both inside.” Nicole responded, her orientation with the world feeling corrected fully for whatever reason. Leaving Zandrophin to what he was going to do, she made her way, using the directions given, to the hatch that would be her entrance way into the amphitheater. Stopping just near the corner of the building Zandrophin had mentioned, she cautiously glanced ahead. There, sitting on a barrel, drinking a bottle of something was a man who was most likely guarding for the hatch. “Of course there would be a lookout…” She muttered to herself, looking at the belt she had started to wear as her alternative place for carrying her Pokeballs. “Alright then… Hard way it is.” She reached for the Pokeball that was newest to her entourage. “Orion, use a quick Force Palm and knock out the lookout if you would.” She asked releasing the baby Pokemon who merely stretched at his freedom before making his way towards the lookout as he was asked.
The lookout didn’t know what had hit him as he first saw the baby Pokemon, and then blacked out due to the force that was used to send him into the wall of another nearby building. “Good boy Orion.” Nicole praised, as she made her way over to the hatch that she was instructed to use. The Riolu merely walked over to her and grabbed onto her leg, hugging it in contentment. Moving in a way that would not disturb Orion’s hold, Nicole managed to get the hatch open, before staring at the stairway leading to where she was going to be heading. “Shouldn’t be too hard. The path to the left, right…?” She muttered as she, with practiced ease, began her descent down the stairs with Orion, making sure to close the hatch when she was far enough down.
Soon enough, she found herself in a tunnel system with a t-section up ahead. “Just remember to go left… Left.” Nicole muttered to herself as she began to walk towards the area that she needed to head towards.

Zandrophin watched Nicole as she headed for the indicated building. Ruta began to increase her rhythm as she cut through the dirt and rocks in her way. Zandrophin jumped down after her, but not after both he and Mentus flinched from a disturbance they felt.
Force Palm...must've been a guard there.
Zandrophin grinned. Indeed this partnership was working out already. The girl wasn't afraid to bust some heads to achieve an objective...and that was an admirable quality.
When Squirt and Zandrophin had entered the hole, Ruta filled up the entryway to cover their tracks. She continued to dig. In a few minutes, they broke through.
Zandrophin glanced down and saw many figures moving around.
Just like insects...Thank you, Ruta. You and Squirt will be needed again soon.
Zandrophin saw a rooftop of a building which provided a great vantage point to watch the entrance where Nicole would eventually emerge from. With Mentus' assistance, after storing away Squirt and Ruta, he swung down from the ledge of the hole he'd created and landed soundlessly on the roof to wait for Nicole to arrive.

Once she had reached the two halls that split off in the t-section, Nicole called Orion back into his Pokeball since she didn’t want to involve the baby Pokemon anymore than she already had in this endeavor. Taking the left passage like she was informed to, and had continued to remind herself of, she continued to make her way to the place she had been told would be where she would be meeting Zandrophin. She didn’t, however, want to go into the area alone, just in case there were more guards that were not as easily dodged as the ones she had bypassed. Reaching for the Net Ball she had on her belt, she gave a small groan at knowing that the Pokemon she was about to release would most likely be rebellious. Pressing the button that would open the Pokeball she released Kai into the open.
The Vaporeon, as soon as he was released, shook himself out before looking at her with a small huff. “Do we have to go over this every single time? Work with me on this...” Nicole griped giving the Pokemon a “really” look. Kai gave another huff but seemed to agree to help her as he rubbed up against her legs. “Thank you.” She huffed as she started to walk again, Kai following a few feet behind. When she finally reached the opening she was looking for, she exited into the area she was sure was the opening to the amphitheater, trying to keep herself hidden in the shadows so that she wouldn’t be noticed by the people inside.

When Zandrophin saw Nicole, he sent her a message:
You've seen me perform before....here's another show.
Without another word, he somersaulted off of the roof, released Ruta and Squirt, mid-descent, and landed crouched on the ground. Five of the thugs were quite angry at the intrusion and rushed towards them. They were less than effective.
Using Metal Claw, Ruta pinned two of the men against the wall, impacting with such force that both were knocked completely senseless. Squirt's reaction was a bit more old-school: he simply took one in each hand and bumped their heads together.
Zandrophin had to face the last one...who was a bit bigger than the others, and held a pipe in his hands. Zandrophin faced him, and in an instant, had drawn his knife. Very calmly, he said,
"Please...stand down...I do not wish to hurt you."
The thug gave a yell as his reply and rushed him. Zandrophin couldn't help the small smile that crossed his face. As the thug got closer, Zandrophin dropped his weight and hooked the assailant's leg as he ran past, bringing him crashing to the ground. With a twirl, he placed the knife on his neck while Squirt pointed one of his arm cannons at him. Zandrophin asked, rather loudly so all could hear:
"Now...tell me....where is your boss?"
From the crowd, a voice said in reply,
"Who wants to know?"
Zandrophin replied,
"The new boss of this place."
Laughter erupted as a man with greased hair stepped forward. He stood about 60 feet from Zandrophin, his posse forming a ring around the two men.
"I know you," he said, "you're that punk whose been bringing in all that mainland stuff. So, what? You thought you could just come down here and appropriate my turf?"
"My, my...such big words from such a dim man..."
The leader laughed again,
"Man, what are you thinking? You're not in your town anymore...there's no-one here from the SCPC to back you up..."
Zandrophin raised an eyebrow.
"That's right...I know about that jewelry you're wearing...youse guys are supposed to be tough...some say even crazy. From what I've seen, you don't even have the spine to injure anyone. You're more like a worm than a wolf."
"Well...this worm is going to take your property from you."
More laughter.
"Over...my....dead....body."
"That can be arranged."
Before anyone could react, Zandrophin and Mentus channeled their energy towards the upstart and broke his neck, his head almost turning a full 180 degrees. Everyone stood in shocked silence at what they'd just seen.
"I'm in charge now. My partner will now discuss the terms of this....change of management."
He gestured to Nicole,
"If you would, my dear."
Do not fight for a cause or for what you believe in: Fight for yourself, because who you are rarely changes. Zandrophin
Nicole felt the need to roll her eyes at the theatric entrance Zandrophin made with his landing. She was standing the shadows off to the side of the entrance waiting for her own cue to be given. However, her perception of the other changed as she watched him and his Pokemon take down a few of the thugs that had charged them, Zandrophin taking one hostage by knife point. She was even more shocked to see how quickly the situation escalated as Zandrophin killed the man who claimed to be the boss for the Underground. It seemed this was truly a take no prisoners situation. Upon seeing and hearing Zandrophin gesture and call out her cue, she took a deep breath and gathered the words she would need into a tightly made speech. From behind her Kai gave a huff at how long it was taking Nicole to pull herself into the moment. Then, before she could walk out, a flash from a Pokeball could be seen, and Nero appeared beside her, standing at his full height. “What the heck Nero?! I didn’t release you…” Nicole muttered to the Pokemon, knowing that it now seemed that she was stalling, even if that was not the truth.
Nero gave her a look that spoke of his determination to be out and with her as she gave her speech, effectively cutting off any protests the girl could make. Sighing heavily, Nicole just nodded her head, and, standing at her full height, made her way out into the open. Her appearance seemed to stir a new bout of rebellion, however, as those close to where she had been standing startled at her sudden appearance. Two men, moved to attack her, only to be met with the full force of an Aurora Beam and a Flamethrower. “Well… That wasn’t very diplomatic…” Nicole muttered a little startled by what just happened. “I see why you wanted to be by my side when I made my entrance now, Nero.” Nero gave a quick nod and glared at the other men as though asking them to try again. From behind her, Nicole could even hear Kai giving off a warning hiss/growl.
Knowing her Pokemon had everything under control; Nicole made her way over to Zandrophin finally and stood next to him. Nero and Kai moved to take their places on either side of her, though on Kai’s part it was a bit of a surprise that he was doing so. “Alright everyone, listen up. As of now, you are no longer under the control of the man who’s currently on the floor, and not getting back up. You are now under the control of this man who stands beside me. There will be no negotiations on this matter. If you attack, you will become a floor mat. Simple as that.” Nicole spoke once she was sure that she had everyone’s attention.
“And why the ‘ell should we listen ta a little brat like ya?” A man asked from her side, drawing her attention to him. “Good question. The better question, however, is why aren’t you listening to a “little brat” like me? You heard every word I just said. You shouldn’t have any questions.” The man’s face turned into a sour look. “The fact the man standin’ beside ya is even relying on ya is sad enough. Go home princess; let the men here fight it out. Don’t wanna scar ya pretty little face now would ya?” He sneered causing Nicole to sigh and roll her eyes, looking over at Zandrophin. “Okay, so they don’t want to listen to reason. Force then?” She asked causally.

Zandrophin had had just about enough of the upstart who decided to voice his opinions. He passed his hand over the Dusk ball, and Dolos appeared. Quickly applying the megastone, a pair of wing-like attachments appeared on his back. He spoke very calmly towards the man.
"Sir...please stay your tongue. My associate is here to assist me, as I am to assist her. She stays. You're beginning to irritate the both of us. Try to remain quiet."
Though he didn't show it outwardly, Zandrophin was beginning to lose control. He despised dealing with ignorant people...and rudeness, particularly towards his newest ally, was not something he tolerated well.
"Miss Nicole, I can feel myself slipping...if he continues to push, it may not end well."
Unfortunately, the man did not listen to his warning.
"Like 'ell I'll shut up! You can't control all of us!"
Zandrophin replied calmly, though the strain was now in his voice.
"I need not control all of you...just most of you. Now, KNEEL!!"
With this word, Zandrophin and Mentus created a Calm Mind bubble around a large group of the men and used Psychic to enforce the command on the more feeble-minded. He looked at Nicole again,
"I don't like doing this...we can sense that many of them are already willing to follow us...but I must make an example."
The upstart, surprisingly, managed to withstand the mental attack, and pulled himself back up, albeit with much difficulty.
"Heh....y--y'can't keep me down. I ain't--surrenderin' to the likes'a you!"
Zandrophin's tone began to darken as he replied.
"Very well...if you will not kneel willingly...your body will MAKE you kneel. Dolos! Caede!"
An ominous sound could be heard as Dolos began to stir up a wind. The attack came soon after. The impudent man was given minor lacerations all across his body, with extra focus around the ankles, knees, shoulders, and wrists. The loss of these joints rendered him nigh immobile. The man crumpled to the ground and cried out in anguish and anger,
"You bastard! Curse you! Curse your friend! May Arceus damn your bitch of a mother!!"
At that moment, Zandrophin snapped. He walked over to the man, stood over him, and outstretched a hand over him. His voice was now terribly distorted, a mix between a darker version of his own and Mentus'. A small echo could even be heard.
"Don't you dare speak a cross word about our mother, you filth! She taught us to be understanding to fools like you...but by tarnishing her honor, you have sealed your fate. Now KNEEL!!"
Zandrophin's hand gathered a purple aura around it, as did the unfortunate man. Slowly but surely, he was forced down into the ground. A wicked grin crossed Zandrophin's face. This man had pushed too far...and deserved all he would receive.
"There, now....isn't that better....worm!? We tire of your impudence. Begone."
With one quick, dismissive hand motion, Zandrophin launched the man across the amphitheater, a distinct "crunch" accompanying the impact on the wall. Zandrophin held his hand outstretched for a few moments, keeping constant pressure on the man, before lowering his hand and exhaling.
He began to teeter, and then fell. Squirt and Dolos caught him before he fell to far. Placing him on the ground, the two Pokemon took up positions to defend their severely weakened master. Mentus had just enough strength left to float over to Dolos to rest on his back. As if sensing trouble, Rose's Field ball opened and the Roserade set about healing them.

Nicole stood completely still, eyes wide in shock at what she had just witnessed. She had asked if they needed to use force, she just didn’t know what the word “force” meant in the case of the ignorant apparently. She didn’t even realize she was shaking slightly until Nero nudged her with his muzzle. Taking a moment, she tried to force back the slight amount of fear she felt from the display she had just seen so she could put up a more controlled face. While she did this, the crowd around her and her new ally began to whisper among themselves as they tried to figure out what had just happened themselves. Again, Nicole felt Nero nuzzle her trying to get her to respond to him in some form or fashion. Looking down at him, she gave him a small shaky smile and placed one of her hands on his head, stroking it almost absentmindedly.
“I’ll be alright… This is just a lot to take in… This is the life that my father was setting me up for, though it’s the uglier side of it. If I want to work the lighter side, the darker side must also be acknowledged… But we shouldn’t be worried about me right now Nero. I’m more worried about how Zandrophin is right now.” She said, her eyes going over to the man she was speaking about, in the hold of his Pokemon. “I have never seen anything like what he just did before in my life… Is it normal for him to pass out like that…?” This was muttered to herself. While she was trying to wrap her head around the situation, Kai had taken it upon himself to hiss/growl at anyone who made any sort of movement that seemed to be towards the group of people he had placed himself in front of.

In just a few minutes, Zandrophin was back on his feet, though leaning a bit on Squirt. He adjusted his clothing, scratched Mentus' ears, and regained his composure. He chuckled slightly at the Vaporeon's display of ferocity and sent Nicole another message, his voice weak.
"Your friend seems very eager to fight something. I am sorry...the connection puts a lot of strain on our bodies. When we're pushed, we can really overwork ourselves. I apologize if our methods were a bit rough...but I told you before I do not deal well with unreasonable people."
He stood up a bit straighter now, the power coming back to his voice as he gestured widely with his arms like the showman he was,
"Ladies and gentlemen, your attention, please! We thank you for your cooperation in this administrative shift. My associate and myself are now in charge of this place. We would like any volunteers who would wish to help us run this area to please step forward. Those of you not interested may disperse and carry on with your usual day-to-day activities. Thank you for your attention."
As the crowd dispersed, a few people stepped up to speak with both Zandrophin and Nicole. Zandrophin nodded a greeting to his prospects,
"Ah...welcome, my friends. Listen well...for I have an interesting proposition for you..."
After about a half hour of intense pitching, Zandrophin shook the hands of the volunteers who chose to speak with him specifically. He walked over to the bar and ordered some tea, the recipe on a piece of paper. Slowly drinking his tea, he watched the people in the area, a smile slowly crossing his face.
Old friend...bring up the dossiers. It's time to send my greeting.
