Trainer Type: Normal
Name: Zandrophin (Zan) [SYSTEM ERROR: No surname on record]
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Hometown/region: Saffron City, Kanto region
Currently Lives: Pyron City, Celosia
Status/class: Current owner of the Celosia Trading Company
Family: None that he cares to remember, other than Mentus.
Looks:
Zandrophin is pale of face, with blonde hair cut short and kept out of his face. He is almost always clean-shaven, and will only allow for stubble when he doesn’t have time to take care of it. Keeping with the professional culture he was raised in, he tends to wear more formal attire.
Personality:
Zandrophin carries with him an air of constant derision about all around him. He does not believe he is better than they are, per say…it’s more of just a constant state of judgment. He is sarcastic, crass, and borderline offensive at times, but if you want an honest opinion…there are few better to give them.
Likes and Dislikes:
Likes: Making jokes at the expense of others, “collecting” items that may or may not be his by any means, and cold weather.
Dislikes: Bigoted, close-minded, and aggressive people, hot weather, and being unable to concentrate.
Almost inhuman ability:
Zandrophin can almost smell an opportunity. His limited psychic connection, thanks to his almost constant exposure to Mentus, has given him clarity of mind to the extent that he can sense an opportunity and exploit it, no matter the situation.
History:
The son of two Silph Co team leaders, Zandrophin was no stranger to the world of the Pokemon trainer. Everything a trainer could possibly need, Zandrophin knew how it was made, where to get it, and who to talk to for the best deal. Obviously, he did not share this information with would-be Pokemon Masters for free; a boy’s gotta make a living somehow. Zandrophin knew trainers love to travel the world; he knew that, if he kept catering to them, word would reach the other Regions…and more money would reach Zandrophin’s pockets. Ironically, Zandrophin understood the world of the Pokemon trainer…but feared the world of Pokemon. He’d seen the awesome power wielded by these creatures, and feared their destructive capabilities.
As fate often has a hand in doing, Zandrophin was forced to face his fear one day while on a family holiday near the bridge at Route 24, just north of Cerulean City. In the midst of the family picnic, an Abra teleported itself over the river, and fell in, sinking rapidly towards the bottom. Zandrophin heard a voice in his head call out for help. He hesitated, his fear keeping him rooted. Another cry for help, weaker than the first. Zan swallowed hard, took a deep breath, and dove into the water. When Zandrophin resurfaced, Abra in his arms, Zandrophin’s father took the Pokemon and, commenting how much lighter than average this Abra was, (25 lbs instead of the average 43lbs) decided it was best to take it to the Pokemon Center in Cerulean City to have it cared for.
While the Abra was being nursed back to health (it had suffered many injuries of unknown origin…possibly from an abusive ex-trainer), it kept an almost constant psychic link between itself and Zandrophin. Through this link, the two were able to communicate, allowing Zandrophin to become more comfortable with the Pokemon; Zandrophin stayed at the Pokemon Center, observing and interacting with the Abra, who he’d nicknamed Mentus because of his method of communication. When Mentus was finally well enough to be released, the two were almost inseparable. Zandrophin decided to finally take up the mantle of Pokemon trainer; he and Mentus would grow together as man and Pokemon. They went everywhere together and, whenever they were home, they would meditate for many hours.
Zandrophin’s many connections at Silph Co allowed him access to much of the company’s merchandise, including TMs. With these TMs, Zandrophin was able to teach Mentus many useful moves: Flash, Calm Mind, and Psychic. One would think these moves would be relatively harmless, but after a string of thefts around Silph Co and Saffron City, with the only evidence from a security camera showing the empty atrium of the building before the optical sensors were fried by a bright light, the true nature of this became clear.
Zandrophin was known to take something and ask permission…well…never. Little is known about how the confrontation went down, but the end result was the same: Zandrophin was sent away from Saffron City, never to return. On his way out of the city, Zandrophin heard two citizens talking about a new region called Asemon. Due to the war against Unova, many fled there to safety.
Sounds like a good place to start fresh, Sir; a new land means new opportunity.
Mentus was right; indeed it did sound like a great place to start again. Zandrophin had absconded enough supplies to live quite happily anywhere else for quite some time. Zandrophin acquired a map of this new region, and discussed possible locations with Mentus. After much deliberation, they reached an agreement. Mentus teleported both himself and Zandrophin towards their new adventure. Their feet came to rest on a shoreline, near what appeared to be a bustling trading hub…
