"And what type of Pokemon would Sparky be?" The Ranger asked, wanting to know a little more about this Gym Leader, he sounded like an upstanding Citizen and a Great kid "You know kid, you might have what it takes to be a Ranger if your telling is the truth, I mean you sound honest so I have no reason to doubt you of course." as he picked up a Frazzberry "I'll be taking one and thank you" as he tossed over a bill to the Shopkeep and took a bite from the fruit
"So I'm guessing your Personal Pokemon all have an Important job in town?"
Z shrugged, "I don't think a ranger position is for me. I like battling and competition too much to become a ranger. As for my pokemon, most of them have jobs, though Ruby just likes to cause trouble while Kit's job is to mainly keep Ruby from causing too much trouble. Most of my pokemon spend their time helping in the mines with their strength, busting rocks and hauling loads of ore out of the tunnels so we can send them to some of the refineries in the larger cities to be turned into valuable things like gold, silver, and gems, while the elemental stones and evertsones we find are sold in shops or traded to the rest of the island."

"Oh I understand completely-" The Ranger replied, walking along with the young gym leader, keeping his gaze from getting lost and eyeing up all the stalls in the marketplace "It's not really a job for everyone, it's the fact it- " he stopped trying to think of a perfect word "-It can even be a Hassle even stressful to be a Ranger, having everyone depend on you in one way or another, but overall it depends on the person and how he or she takes the pressure."
"I just meant that rangers seem to focus on protecting pokemon and people instead of battling and catching new pokemon," said Z, "that's not what I'd prefer to do. I'm more of a person that wants to train and be the strongest that I can be with my team at my side. We all like to battle and grow stronger and are strengthened by the bonds we share." they walked past the shops to where ore was being loaded onto carts pulled by pokemon to be taken to the big cities.

"And that doesn't mean Tara and I don't get along at all, it doesn't mean we don't do battle and at the end of the day hang out like best buds." The Ranger replied, defending the profession "I mean I understand why you wouldn't but I mean we keep everyone safe for a reason, to keep the roads clear from the bandits that roam and make sure they have a fair chance to make that new friend, but It also doesn't mean you don't also get the time to make new friends."
"I also have a gym to run," said Z, "so until I can find someone to replace me, I'm always going to have to come back here to deal with business here and would put running the gym above the duties as a pokemon ranger. Do you want to see the mines now or are you going to inspect the gym arena as well?" Z glanced at the sun's position and made a note so he would know when would be good to head to the mines, so they wouldn't head there during the hottest part of the working day.

The Ranger shook his head slowly "Eh, maybe a bit later, until then I think I'll go around and see some of the sights myself-" the Officer looked away from him for a bit "- in an un-official manner of course." he added in the end "New things always seem to excite me and if I spoil it with work then it wouldn't be so special now, would it?" as Izzy patted the Larvitar on the head "Laaarrrrvvvitar..." *Can I meet new Pokemon Izzy?* he turned to to the Gym Leader "I think Tara would like to help you and meet new friends."
"Sure," said Z, "Most of them are working right now, but Volt should be free and he would welcome some company. charging the town's generators tends to be a bit tedious after a while, so he usually takes a nap while doing so. He sleeps more than a Slakoth," Z chuckled, thinking about it, "I keep telling him he might turn into a snorlax if he keeps sleeping so much but he doesn't care. he's still as strong as ever and all the stored electricity amps up his motor drive."

The Ranger chuckled a bit hearing the Snorlax bit "Alright, I'll visit the local pokemon center and get some shut eye, until then... here take Tara along for the ride with you." he looked at his loadout belt and tossed it over to the gym leader "Here ya go." Tara smiled as she walked up to the Gym Leader, waiting for him to lead her somewhere, Tara was always in search of a new friend or even something to do to keep her from getting bored "Oh and by the way if shes gets out of line, just give her quick thud to the head."
Z smiled, "I don't think it will come to that. Let's go, little one. We're headed to the generators where Volt provides the power for the town's electrical systems. You don't have any metal on your person do you? Jewelry? Piercings? That kind of stuff?" As they walked, Vivian fluttered to the ranger and landed on his head, roosting in his hair to relax a bit. She was very friendly with strangers and could sense if they had any ill intent. She sensed that the ranger was a good person.

The little Larvitar shook her head and replied with a quick "Lar-viiii-tar." *Nope, no Metal on me* she continued to follow the Gym Leader, scurrying a little trying to catch up in those little bits where he outpaced her "Lar-Lar-viiii-tar." *and thank you for taking me to this new Pokemon, I like Making new friends.* she began to wonder what type of Pokemon Volt was and if he or she would be a friendly companion to meet.
Izzy felt the little Butterfly Pokemon land on his head "Ahhh, Hello there new friends, I'm Izzy." he quickly dug into his thigh pack and pulled out some berries "Here you go, Enjoy these." as he held his hand up for the Pokemon to eat the sweet berries.
Vivian took one of the berries and began to nibble on it while resting on his head. Z picked up the smaller pokemon and put her on his shoulder, "most of my own team like to make new friends as well. Only Ruby doesn't, but that's mostly because she's a troublemaker and would rather annoy someone than befriend them. Which is why it's Kit's job to keep her in line, because her attacks do the most damage." They walked to an area with insulated walkways and giant generators connected by cables.

"Larrrvitar." *Ruby doesn't sound nice, I think I'll stay away from her.* Tara Replied, turning to him as they went down the industrial hallway of the towns power plant "Larrrr-vi-tar." *Are we here Mr.Z?* she looked around with amazement, never seeing anything like this place before, not knowing if Johto had them or her Master just never get around going to one.
"You don't talk much do you, can you tell me your name atleast?" He asked, petting the butterfly Pokemon
Z nodded and pointed to a metal chair/bed where an electrevire was channeling electricity into the machines. the bed/chair was also hooked up to several large lightning rods, so it could draw pure lightning into the electric pokemon to help power it up. "Hi Volt!" said Z. *Eh?* said Volt *you brought a vistor? who's the little one and why did she come all this way? Is she a new comrade?*

"Thank you Vivian, I think." The Ranger chuckled at her statement, scratching his cheek as he moved along following the signs towards the Local Pokemon Center "So Vivian, whats your duties in town?" he inquired, wondering what this butterfly did helping to progress the town.
Larvitar turned to Z and tilited her head "larrrviiitar..." *Hello there, you're volt I presume?* The little Ranger asked as she popped down from Z's shoulders, turning around to thank him in a form of a bow. "Larvitar..." *I'm Tara and yes I'm a friend* as she approached the Electrevire, looking around at the Machines he was attached to "lat-Vitar..." *Interesting, I've never seen anything like this before.*
