Z smiled and gathered his partners before heading to the backstage to prepare for his performance. He had already decided to use Tsurara in this contest, as she had the most elegant moves and combinations out of his partners. Once he was backstage, he began to talk with her so that they could plan on how to Wow the audience and the judges with her ice creations. She happened to have a few ideas and thus they began to brainstorm so that they might take home the badge this time around. Tsurara was always happier in the kingdom of Eirlys, due to it being where she was originally from.
Eira was eager to get things started and motioned for her guards to go ahead and open the doors to anyone who wanted to be a member of the audience. It was hard to say who was going to win this contest when she hardly knew some of the competitors, though she had to admit that Z's Tsurara would do incredibly well today if she incorporated any of the training she had received the last time she had been in Silvertree. Eira also supposed that Tsubame's Sneasel would be able to show off its Ice type beauty and that Mariko's Smoochum would do well, but what she had seen of them before did not show much promise in the realm of contests. Eira hoped she was wrong and would be amazed by their performances as she sat to wait for Mariko to begin.
Kaname was nervous, a sight rarely seen by even Tsubame. Patting his head, Tsubame did his best to reassure him, though he was a little unsettled as well. Tsubame looked around at the competition and noticed the blonde man who had entered the clinic and that had introduced himself to him once before. ’The business man is here?!’ He sighed and muttered to Kaname.
”No use worrying now Kaname, the business man’ll probably take the win.” He shook his head and continued looking around. Nicole? The girl who was to go first. Do I know her? I think she was the girl with that Maya chic. He noticed another blonde man-blonde? No. his hair was silvery white. He recognized him, but hadn’t met him. Looking around seeing if he knew anyone else, he noticed Mariko.
”Mariko! Mariko!” Jogging up to her like a pet dog, he stopped suddenly and smiled his happiness at seeing her. ”You’re here! And competing? Good luck to you, you deserve it.” he smiled. He remained wary of Zandrophin, the man with the abra who was standing nearby.
"Damned if you do. Damned if you don't. Life's a game not meant to be won by people like me." -Tsubame
Nicole nodded at Eira's question and headed to the back so she could decide which Pokemon she was going to use for the first part of the contest. The only water Pokemon she really had was Kai and she was sure that if she tried to use him he would throw a fit, but she was hoping that the fact they were going to be in the contest would make him less upset. Looking over at Nero she gave the Ninetails a pathetic look, getting an encouraging one back in return, she placed her backpack down and took the ball that had Kai in it off of her backpack strap and releasing him into the room.
When he was released Kai merely shook himself out, then gave Nicole a blank stare. "Will you please just try and work with me on this?" Nicole asked with a sigh as she watched the Vaporeon circle around a few times before laying down with a look of contemplation on his face. Finally, however, he sat up and gave her a short nod. Nicole couldn't help the sigh of relief that crossed her lips. Maybe she was finally getting him to trust her after her little memory lapse.
"I guess normal was never supposed to be a word for me." - Nicole
"Ladies and gentlemen!" Eira called when the hall was full of visitors to watch the contest, her voice echoing around the smooth ice hall as she spoke. "Welcome to the first annual Fall Festival! We are here today tosee how these skilled trainers have decided to try to awe us with their Pokemon! Please give a warm welcome to the first competitor tonight, Miss Nicole!"
Eira sat back to enjoy the show, hoping to see a beautiful performance that captured the season that they were here to celebrate.
Nicole gave a small sigh as she heard her name be announced by Eira, for the first performance. She had barely heard of the rules before this contest, so she was slightly unsure of what was expected, but she would have to give it her all it seemed. Looking over at Kai she gave the Pokemon a small smile only to get another blank stare in return. Sighing once more, she gave Nero a small look that told him to stay with her backpack before she and Kai made there way onto the stage.
When the two reached the stage, Nicole gave the crowd a small smile and bow before standing back up and beginning her introduction. "Hello people of Eirlys. My name is Nicole and I hope you enjoy me and my partner Kai's performance for you." She said loudly before she moved back a little ways away from Kai.
"Kai, start the performance off with a Surf." She shouted, which in turn had the Vaporeon spreading water out from around his feet. Kai then made the Surf turn into a large wave that was halfway to the ceiling before controlling it so that it would go around in a circle and crash safely onto the stage without making a watery mess and hitting the audience. "Now, Kai, use Hail! Control it so that it is only over the stage and use Aurora Beam!" Nicole shouted next. Kai gave her a small understanding look at this before he summoned the Hail storm that only came in cold climates or from the move asked for, and covered the stage with it, while keeping it away from where Nicole was stationed. He then began to shoot out Aurora Beams in different directions allowing for the beams to cause a rippling effect within the Hail. Finally though, Nicole gave a small hand movement and Kai began to stop the moves that he was creating and moved into a small bow.
Taking a cue from her Pokemon, since she knew that he would probably not wish to do more, Nicole too gave a small bow along with her Pokemon.
"I guess normal was never supposed to be a word for me." - Nicole
Eira applauded along with the audience as she stood, making a mental note of how many points she believed Nicole managed to score With her performance. "That was quite a lovely performances, Miss Nicole, and wonderful way to start the contest off. I don't know about everyone else but your performance certainly reminded me of the beauties of winter that we are going to be seeing very shortly. I assure you that, while your performance was short, it was wonderful enough to give you a decent score for this first round. Thank you."
After a small how towards Nicole, Eira sat back down to announce the next competitor. "Ladies and gentlemen! We have quite the treat with this next competitor. Participating once again in our fair town, we have the gym leader of the Starfort gym, Z!"

From the moment he'd arrived, Zandrophin had been conflicted about whether or not he would participate in the contest. He'd lost himself in thought many times, attempting to come up with a plan of action, should he decide to join...and nothing he came up with was particularly awe-inspiring. He knew he had a reputation in the area, and he didn't want to risk losing it due to an ill-prepared routine.
He approached the area where Lady Eira was seated and, leaning up against the wall, said,
"Miss Nicole performed admirably. She's certainly captured the essence of this hall. A longer performance may have been possible...but sometimes it's the shorter shows that stick in the mind."
As Lady Eira took notice of his presence, he bowed before continuing,
"Lady Eira...I apologize for this, but I must withdraw myself from the formal listing for the contest. You see, I have no routine lined out...and I know many people in attendance recognize me. I would only disappoint them if I went out there as I am now. I would like to formally apologize to them before the next round starts, if you'll allow it."

Z walked forward with Tsurara at his side. He had a smile on and knew exactly what he wanted to do for this contest. With a flourish, he threw off his cloak, causing Tsurara to float up above the center of the stage.
"Tsurara," said Z, "lets make this a beautiful show!"
Tsurara let out a musical cry and raised her hands to the air, causing clouds to gather and hail to fall. She then called forth an Ominous Wind, causing a purple twister the form that sucked all of the hail into a vortex. Next she began to use an ice beam to form an ice sculpture, channeling some of the ominous wind into it to smooth the edges, giving it a crystalline sheen like a sparkling diamond. Once she was finished, she fired a shadow ball into the vortex of spinning hailstones, causing an explosion that shattered the hail and left sparkling diamond dust surrounding a crystalline sculpture of a milotic.
With a bow, Z collected his cloak and walked off stage.
"Ah, I'm sorry you're going to be withdrawing from the contest, but I understand your concern," Eira told Zandrophin with a frown, a little more relaxed with the man after their business in Mistleaf. She nodded to him, before motioning towards the few seats near her in her sectioned off area in front of the stage. "Feel free to make your announcement after Z does his performance, also feel free to join me in spectating if you have the time. It would be nice to have a second opinion on the performances."
When Z entered the stage, Eira turned her attention towards his performance. She was not surprised to see Tsurara on the stage with her long time friend.once he was finished, Eira applauded him with the audience. "That was quite the lovely performance and it was clear that Tsurara really learned a lot from the training she did the last time she was here. You are going to have a wonderful score, though I do believe that you should try to something more the next time you perform."
As she sat down, she motioned for Zandrophin to go ahead and take the stage.
Zandrophin stepped down from Eira's box and walked onto the stage. He heard the murmurings of the crowd, along with the shifting in seats. It must've been confusing to many of them. He sighed before entering his confident entertainer persona, his voice echoing around the hall.
"Ladies and gentlemen, if I may have your attention for just a few moments. I have an announcement."
The murmuring stopped; he had their attention, now. After a short pause, he continued with his usual show of gestures, ensuring to look in the general direction of everyone in the hall,
"I regret to inform you all that I will not be performing in this contest. This decision was made after a long discussion with my team. I know many of you in attendance here today are familiar with my style of performance. After determining that I could not deliver a spectacle of my usual caliber, I decided to remove myself from the list. Some of you may think this cowardly, or that I'm to prideful. Both of these would be true. I take great pride and enjoyment out of producing fantastic routines, and I am always afraid of disappointing my audience."
He took a moment to attempt to lighten the somber mood he'd placed on the hall,
"I will remain here to observe the competitors, comment on their performances, and, perhaps with Lady Eira's permission, assist her in the judging process. To the competitors in this contest, you can relax a bit...you no longer have to compete against me."
A few people laughed...which was good enough for him. He paused again, clearing his throat before he concluded,
"I am deeply sorry if this has come as an inconvenience to anyone. If any of you came here to see me perform, I can assure you, there will be many other opportunities to see me put my money where my mouth is. I say good luck to those competing, and thank you all for your time. Please, enjoy the contest; cheer these people on...I have no doubts they've all worked hard to impress you all. Give them a round."
Applause echoed around the hall. Zandrophin turned to where the competitors were seated, bowed and, in a wide sweeping motion towards the stage, spoke to all of them mentally,
"Take the stage, my friends...it's all yours. Bona fortuna."
With that, he Teleported off the stage in a flash, reappearing in Eira's box...eagerly awaiting the next performance.

"That was very well said," Eira complimented Zandrophin when he appeared next to her, steadily growing used to the man teleporting around her. She took a moment to collect herself before she stood to address her audience, a large smile on her face. "Ladies and gentlemen, we may have lost one of our competitors, but we still have plenty more performances to see. This next competitor is one of our very own, a resident of Silvertree just like many of us here tonight, so please give him your support in his first ever contest. Please welcome to the stage, Tsubame!"
Tsubame scratched his head seconds before his legs trudged onto the stage, Kaname visibly fretting behind him. His plan was rushed, but he had already decided they were going to perform. Tsubame inhaled and realized his throat was shot, but he was in front of the queen so he refused to just back down; especially with Miss Mariko and Zandrophin, both veteran coordinators, watching. He waited for the silence, maybe even waiting a little longer before he used a dangerous tactic, one that could arouse suspicion from any guards nearby.
”Kaname, use dark pulse!”
Suddenly, the room was filled with a darkness that seeped eerily from Kaname’s gaped mouth and open claws, the dark aura moved like a shadow that had somehow been brought to life. Kaname’s eyes glowed purple, not unlike the dark flame-like appendages that rose and fell from the edges of the shadows as it creept towards the audience. The move doubtfully would have aroused suspicion from nay guards, hence why nobody trusted dark types.
Finally in the darkness, Tsubame felt the freedom to think as worried chirps and squeaks from the unnerved audience were all but drowned out as he thought. Finally, I can see clearly. After forming a plan, he noticed the darkness had already begun fading. He whispered at a decibel only a pokemon could hear. ’Now, move to the back. You will make use of double team.’ and was answered by a reassuring whoosh.
When the darkness had finally dissipated, Tsubame watched as the audience looked around, both nervously and angrily. But they stopped as an icy wind blew up from all of the aisle ways. Kaname was using his double team to move around the room, focusing exquisitely glimmering particles within misty cloud clusters towards the stage; icy wind. Finally after a few seconds, a mound of ice and snow appeared on stage. It wasn’t anything to look at, at least not until Kaname charged at it. Combined with his speed and the cyan glowing aura bursting from his clawed fists, the sneasel looked like a comet of blues from navy to white. When the ice punch connected with the pathetic lump, an explosion of iridescent fractal particles and clouds of mist and the dissipating blue aura shot towards Tsubame who had already covered his face, but was standing in the middle of the stage, directly in front of the exploded lump. The icy shards pelted his clothes enough to hurt, and maybe even cut through in some places, but he was otherwise just fine.
They had finished, Kaname in a position of exhaustion, quickly recovered enough to run to Tsubame, who had already begun talking to everyone present; primarily, the queen.
”My queen,” he began riding the adrenaline high of the performance, ”I hope you found our performance acceptable. I, your humble subject Tsubame, and my friend Kaname both thank you for your time.” Starting to shake from the adrenaline wearing off he hoped Eira would review him quickly.

Zandrophin was impressed by Tsubame's use of distraction and misdirection. Dark Pulse grabbed the attention of the audience, and when it disappated, no-one knew where the Sneasel was. Zandrophin was not fooled by the display, however...he'd performed a similar trick back in Saffron many times. He was able to easily track the Sneasel's movements as he rushed around the seating area.
The display of ice was something he'd not seen before. He was impressed by the amount of control the trainer exhibited over his pokemon. At the end of the performance, he only nodded, a sign of acknowledgement to the skill of both on the stage.
"A local is always good for a contest, Lady," he said to Eira, "The people can get behind someone from their neck of the woods. A home field advantage is one that should never be wasted, and I believe he utilized it well."

"I must agree with your view Zandrophin," Eira smiled warmly as she applauded for Tsubame, standing up slowly to give herself time to think about his performance once more. Tsubame certainly had not let her down and had really shown off the beauty and mystery that came with his dual typed Pokemon, amazing Eira enough to have made it hard to completely decided on if she had liked the performance overall or not. She cleared her throat before she addressed the competitor and his partner. "You did a wonderful job tonight, Tsubame and really showed off the skill of the people who live here in Eirlys to work with Ice types. You have placed well in this first round and I look forward to your next performance."
