I’m not sure about this person I am to meet today. The queen almost paced about in her anxiousness to get this over with. She couldn’t release her pokemon to calm her down though, due to her lack of knowledge about the new ruler she was to meet. She stacked her hands neatly on the balcony fence while trapped in her own thoughts.
What if I make a new enemy today… I would have to crush them as soon as possible then; while they’re still weak from war. Or what if we become allies? Will we need to aid them in money? What kind of weapons do they have I wonder. Her thoughts swirled her feelings into a concoction of unease in her stomach. What if he’s here to kill me?
“My queen!”
She turned to see a man kneeling behind her. One of her guards to alert her of something, but she already knew exactly what it was. So it begins.
“My queen? They are here.”
”Fine then. Make sure the feast is prepared. I know not if they will dine with me or not, but it’s always polite to be prepared. As for myself, I will be down to greet them momentarily. Also, keep Sir Michealmicheals away. He might make this more… difficult.”
Her perfected polite, political expression of a calm sea washed away any unease she had mustered as she walked back into her castle and headed for the grand entrance. Her dress today was a formal one, but not her most formal. It was light and airy, a common clothing trait in the sun-warmed lands, yet red like the blood the woman who wore it craved.
Door through door, she passed, until the final one she would pass through for now changed her walk. She began to roll her feet, using their full flexibility and strength to create a smoother, more graceful walk. Her shoes no longer clacked as she walked, but rather made a softer clicking noise. Her posture was straightened and her expression still evenly plastered to her face. She gave the signal to her guard to let the envoy in.
She still wasn’t sure what to expect, but she hoped they wouldn’t mind the guards she sent to escort them in; and as it always is with greeting new people, the guards had their pokemon withdrawn as a sign of peace. She had just made it down the stairs when the magnificent doors began to creep open. She awaited her guests alone in the center of the room, but as always, guards were ever present in the shadows and corners of the room. The mosaic above the door let in enough light to illuminate the red lady perfectly, almost angelically. A faint smile she could not resist played at the corners of her lips as she thought;
Let them come.
