Eira looked out from the balcony of her hotel room across the slowly expanding city that she had recently started with a small sigh. Hopefully having Mistleaf here would bring people into Eirlys and show them that there is much more her kingdom has to offer than just cold and contests. It was till taking a bit of work for their expansion to continue on, especially since they kept running out of tools to build what each of the new citizens wanted for their shops. She knew she had to oversee things here, but Eira was hoping that construction would end soon so she could return to her home in Silvertree. She hadn't been back since her announcement at the end of her last contest and she was itching to get back to her home.
Due to the faulty construction and sparse supplies the hotel was sadly not built to code. This was unfortunate for both Eira and her neighbor one floor above.
"Wow Rattata I've never had my own room before! And it smells like fish in hear!" Joey quickly leapt onto his bed.
"Come on Rattata! Dad's not here so no one can stop us from jumping on the bed! One! Two! Three!"
With a loud crack the floor gave way causing Joey, Rattata, and the fishy bed to fall to the floor below into Eira's room.
Eira jumped at the sudden crash in her room, having not heard of anyone being allowed in the floors above her since they were still under construction right now. Seeing a very young boy and a Rattata amongst the wreckage in the middle of her room, Eira hurried forward to help him as she called out for Grace to join her quickly with her egg ready in case there was some serious injury. "Are you alright, little one? You shouldn't have been playing up there in the construction, it's still very dangerous around here."
Joey dusted himself off with his Rattata. "Wow, that was an adventure! I bet we could make all the way to the ground floor that way." Joey grins in the direction of Eira's bed though Grace and Eira entering the room pull his attention away from the make shift elevator.
"Oh hi there lady! Ya I'm totally fine! These shorts are super comfy and helped cushion my tushion... and so did Rattata." Joey holds up Rattata with both hands showing the dusty creature to Eira.
"Rattata." squeaked the rat PokéMon coughing out a puff of dust.
"Oh dear, he doesn't look that good," Eira murmured, turning to her Chansey with worry clear on her face. "Grace, will you help the little guy out with your Soft boiled?"
*Yes!* Grace called cheerfully as she toddled forward and pulled out her egg. She concentrated on the egg for a moment until it began to glow a soft golden color and steam could be see coming off of it. The large pink Pokemon offered up the egg for the Rattata to take a nibble out of in order for the young Pokemon to recover some of his health.
"How did you get up there? I thought the hotel had the stairwell locked up so people couldn't get to the upper floors?" Eira asked in concern, wondering if she may need to talk to the construction crew about keeping things locked up properly. She held out her hand to the young boy with a kind smile. "I'm Eira, by the way, the queen of Eirlys."
Joey stared wide eyed as Rattata was healed. "Wow that's amazing lady! Thanks fat pink thing!"Joey hugged the Rattata before shoving it back in it's ball. "You deserve a rest buddy."
After placing the single ball back on his belt, Joey fished into his pocket and held out a hotel key holding it upside down. "The lady bellow at the desk gave me this key when I asked for a room!" Joey said proudly showing off the key. As Joey held the key upside down it became clear that the little idiot had gone up to the 9th floor instead of the 6th.
Joey quickly pocketed the key and returned the introduction slapping Eira's hand in an awkward high five. "I'm Joey and you already met Rattata! It sure is neat-o to meat a queen, that's what my dad was! The queen of Bark Street is what everyone called him!" Joey puffed his chest out proudly upon bragging about his past.
"Hey you wouldn't happen to know where I could go buy some wool shorts? It's a little on the chilly side here, like this place is nothing but cold and contests."
"I'm not surprised that everyone is talking about contests with the last contest that was held in the capital a few weeks ago," Eira chuckled, amused by the boy's energy and eagerness of everything. He was quite young to be on his own, but Eira could see that he had an optimistic spirit and would probably do fine with a bit of guidance. "There are plenty of shops in the area that could probably supply you with wool shorts, I'll even show you around. Grace, watch Toddle while I'm gone please. I shouldn't be out long."

The sign read "Welcome To Mistleaf City"...he was in the right place. Zandrophin looked up towards the group of partially constructed buildings and scoffed.
Some trading hub, eh, old friend...it's not even completely finished.
These people probably lack decent construction methods...it wouldn't be surprising.
Well...clearly...this place has potential. However, as is usually the case, we must be the ones to unlock it.
No rest for the weary, Sir.
They entered the center of the town, attracting many glances along the way. A few of the people recognized him from the contest that was held in Silvertree. Zandrophin nodded to these people and continued on his way. He wasn't sure where he needed to go, particularly..but he knew who he had to talk to.
There must be a mayor or some other government official. We just need to find....
He trailed off as he saw Eira and a boy he did not notice walking around.
Great...why not just talk to the lady in charge of everything...cut out the middle man...
Zandrophin took a deep breath to steel himself and began walking towards the woman and the boy.

Eira was slightly startled to see Zandrophin approach her as she was showing Joey to one of the few stores that were actually open. She had not expected for him to come to Mistleaf himself when she had requested for him to help her with setting up the trade route between Celosia and Eirlys. Shaking away her thoughts with only a minuscule shake of her head, she addressed the man before her with as little nervousness as possible showing in her demeanor, especially since he still had his ever present Abra around. "Hello Zandrophin. I am glad that you could find your way here without any trouble."

She tried to meet him with a smile and a pleasant comment. Zandrophin knew she was uncomfortable around him...or rather, around Mentus. He smiled inwardly at this.
You make the snowflake squirm so well, old friend.
I could really give her a reason to, Sir...if you so desire it. I wouldn't enjoy it very much, though.
Not now...we're here on business.
Ah yes, business before pleasure, I suppose.
With a slight bow, Zandrophin addressed Eira,
"No difficulty at all, Lady Eira...your villages stick out against the snow; makes it very easy for creatures or people who may wish your people harm to find them. However, I'm not here to discuss the tactical shortcomings of your construction system...I have come to discuss a trade agreement between Eirlys and Celosia on behalf of the CTC."
Mentus popped his head out of the folds of his master's jacket and took visual stock of his surroundings. He looked at Eira and his ears perked up slightly.
"Good day, Lady Eira...this is a lovely little settlement you have here. Very quiet...secluded. I like it. It's a bit...underdeveloped, though. Hopefully we can help you with that."

"That's what I've been hoping for actually," Eira said, trying her best to address the both of them since she knew full well that Psychic types had higher intelligence than most Pokemon and would normally get offended if they were treated like they were not at least equal to humans. "Mistleaf is meant to stick out to those who are travelling since it is the only place between Celosia and the capital far off in Silvertree. I wish for this place to become the trade headquarters for my country and I believe you could help me develop it into such."
As Mentus began teleporting around the village taking stock of everything, Zandrophin returned his attention to Eira and began his rapid-fire questioning.
"Now...while he's doing that...were you planning on selling your goods for money, or were you looking to trade goods for other goods, or both? In any case, what sort of goods were you looking to trade? Did you have any plans to transport them? What kind of items are you looking to get from other places? If those places just want money, do you have enough to support trade with them? Bottom line: what are you expecting to get out of this deal?"
He paused for just a moment to let her think before continuing,
"In theory I can open up this place to the world...and you would get just about anything you need, from just about anywhere. As far as this island, however, I'm currently only able to promise you goods from Celosia...do keep that in mind. Once Mentus gets back, we'll determine what you need for your construction project, and offer recommendations for suppliers."

Eira took a deep breath to calm herself before she answered the long strand of questions, taking them one at a time in hopes of explaining herself well. "I want to trade for both money and goods that we are in need of. Eirlys is full of unique furs and wood that you can't get anywhere else as far as I've seen of Asemon, along with our supply of minerals and evolutionary stones that are unique to our area. Overall I just want to make use of what materials my people can afford to give up in order to get the materials that we may need. From where those materials come, right now I can only think of Celosia since they are our only allies, but I am open to trade with other places as well."
Zandrophin nodded as his questions were answered. She'd given him specifics...which is what he was hoping for. That was good...now he could start formulating a strategy. Just at about that time, Mentus returned from his round.
"Well, old friend, what are we looking at to get this place up and running?"
"Sir...they need everything...tools, nails, bolts, wood, glass, metal. The reason it's been so slow is mainly due to a lack of tools, Sir...which isn't surprising."
"Well...as far as tools and metal go...Oreburg and Canalave in Sinnoh will be able to get us those. The wood may have to come from somewhere else...like Viridian City, perhaps...they did mention an overflow of trees in the forest, and there are few trees stronger than those...unless our client would prefer we get our trees from elsewhere."
"Also, Sir...they need builders. Many of these people have never worked in construction before...and those that have are too busy to teach anyone."
"We can always bring in our sailors to help out...as well as some professional builders...for a little extra payment. Again...that all depends on what our client prefers. I'm not going to bring any of my boys up here if she doesn't want them."

"I would appreciate it if you did not assume that my people had never done things like this before," Eira snapped at him, wishing to be civil since they were to go into business together but feeling that it was about time to set Zandrophin straight about her people and their capabilities. "The reason work has been slow, and it hasn't been that slow thank you, is because we have few people to work on these things, not because they are unskilled. I appreciate the offer for help, but your sailors won't be necessary. You could have also just asked me what we needed, I could have told you right off."
She pulled a slip of paper from her coat's pocket and looked over it with a quick glance, seeing as how it was a list of things that still need to get done in her mind.
"We are not in the need for more wood, a shipment should be coming in from the forest tonight at the latest," she informed them as she put the slip away. "As for metal and glass, that is something that is needed. As you can see, there is a great lacking in the resources needed to make glass or to handle metal in this area, so we are not able to get that ourselves. Everything else is being handled as we speak with our schedule being kept for an opening occurring by the spring."
