After giving a quick run-down of the port itself, Zandrophin led Mariko up from the docks towards his building.
"You see that building atop the hill?" he asked, gesturing with his hand, "That's Celosia Trading Co's main offices/storefront. In addition to interregional trade and commerce, CTC also offers many items to citizens of Celosia and the surrounding areas. Mostly common items: the variants of Pokeballs, bicycles, running shoes, etc. We have a small medical supply, but with your business focusing on that, perhaps we can work out a long-term trade/advertisement agreement that will be beneficial for all. I'm always interested in expanding CTC's customer base and informing current customers of other services."
They stopped at the base of the hill. After a pause, Zandrophin continued,
"Would you like to go inside? It's not entirely finished. In fact, that steel shipment I spoke of earlier was for me...I'm thankful you didn't want to push that back."

Mariko looked at the building in front of her with a small amount of amazement. "Whatever seems best to you. I don't care either way. I can wait out here, or we can go inside." She said before looking over at the other. "And I don't think you need to be thankful for my choice. I made that choice because of my patient. And as soon as I have the items I need from the shipment, that you said was coming, I am going to head back and take care of them."
She paused there before speaking once more. "Also, you really shouldn't have held out on medical supplies just because there was not a business that was centered around it. There are plenty of shops in the marketplace that can sell them, even if it is in small quantities. It sounds to me, like you were stalling on it because you were looking for a business venture. Pardon me if I am wrong with that thought, but your words are making it sound exactly like that."
"Let us go inside and wait in the lobby...it is cooler inside, anyway. This way please."
They began walking up the hill towards the building when Mariko said,
"It sounds to me, like you were stalling on it because you were looking for a business venture. Pardon me if I am wrong with that thought, but your words are making it sound exactly like that."
Zandrophin stopped suddenly and said, looking her dead in the face, slight irritation running across his face,
"I accept your pardon, Miss Yamada...as you could not be more wrong in your assumption. CTC prides itself on attempting to serve the needs of as many as it can. I request shipments based around the types of businesses that come to me looking for supplies. I do not go out looking for clients; such agressive soliciting does not fit me very well. As such, I keep a small amount of all types of supplies here...and if a business comes to me looking for certain items, they may have my stock, and anything they request, I can send to them."
He continued,
"How was I to know there was a medical clinic in the city? I do not have time to keep tabs on all business in this city...there's too much to keep an eye on, and I have to deal with my own company's issues first. If my company fails, all those who rely on me fail, as well. You must understand the pressure I am under. Now please, come inside...the heat is making me irritable."
The pair walked into the lobby, and Zandrophin motioned for Mariko to take a seat. (ANOTHER LOBBY PHOTO TO JOG THE MEMORY!!!):
Mariko thought about how to answer Zandrophin's question. After she had gathered her facts and evidence, she began her answer.
"First, you need to know, if you don't already, that in Ecruteak City the Kimono Dance Theater is known for the Kimono Girls who raise Eevees if they are chosen to. My sister and I lived in the theater as part of the staff, and potential Kimono Girls. Neither of us were chosen. I was free to pursue what I wished to pursue. As I grew up I began to realize my proficiency in medicine and I sort of developed a sixth sense for what type of medicine or medical procedure was needed. When I came here, I decided to follow my passion and opened my clinic." She paused here before starting again.
"I started my clinic as a place both people and Pokemon can go for treatment. There are many places Pokemon can go when they are injured or fatigue, but not many for their Trainers, or the normal citizens. What I wanted was a place were everyone could be treated in equality. With my clinic, both trainers and their Pokemon can be healed in the same place and not have to worry about separate facilities. Also, the civilians don't have to worry about going to far from home either. My clinic is in the middle of the area where I live. Two houses away from mine. Celeste stays there a lot of the time to let me know if someone needs me. She was with me today because I was desperate to find the medical supplies I needed."
Zandrophin sat and listened intently to what the woman said, getting up only once to pour himself and his guest a glass of water. He brought the glasses back over and offered one to Mariko. When she'd finished speaking, Zandrophin said, while pacing back and forth across the lobby floor,
"Your quest is very noble, Miss Yamada. You seem to be willing to treat the entire populace and heal them of whatever ails them. However..."
He paused before continuing,
"However...reality must be made clear to all goals. Your clinic is a business. Businesses have bills to pay. The shipment you requested isn't just going to be dropped into your hands for nothing. No cargo moves until I agree with the terms of the trade. How do you plan to pay for this...along with all of your other expenses? Surely your clinic isn't free to use...? I can assure you that such a system is unwise...you won't last long here."
He didn't mean any of this as a threat...it was just the way the world worked...even he had bills to pay...

Mariko scoffed at the fact that Zandrophin doubted her.
"Sir, I know I run a business. I am not as ignorant as many people think I am. I do ask for payment, and I know how hard it is for some people to pay so I work out a payment plan with them. I also have been receiving donations from those I have helped who were grateful. The donations, I have been fighting because I feel like I haven't earned it unless I have done something. However, no matter how much I fight them, I find them on the counter whenever I leave the front to get something from my supply cabinet."
She reached into her bag and pulled out a small purse. "I use the donation money for my supplies, and the money I earn in the clinic to pay the bills. I have a small amount with me now that I can pay you up front, but I may have to pay you whatever is left at a later date." She opened the purse and showed him the amount she had with her.
"I am not some child with a foolish dream I think can just happen. I had to work to get to where I am now, and I know I will have to continue to work to make sure I can continue with what I love."
Zandrophin chuckled as he walked back to the bar, his dark laughter echoing in the empty lobby. He set the glass down and looked Mariko in the face. Suddenly he began to applaud.
"Very well spoken, Miss Yamada. It pleases me to see that there is another business owner with knowledge of how the world actually works. I foresee a business arrangement with you to be very beneficial for both of us. If you're interested in a more long-term deal...we can discuss that...after we get your shipment, of course...which should be here in a few minutes."
He paused again and continued, taking the small purse,
"I do not normally accept partial payments...but I will this time. You must be aware, however...that the last person who tried to cheat me out of my money found part of their building floating out in the bay. I do not ask for exorbitant amounts of money...so shirking me is uncalled for and is just plain rude."
The door tone sounded as a burly man walked through the sliding door with a clipboard.
"Ah, Captain...good to see you. You're early. Here's your fee. Miss Yamada? Give the man your clinic's address, and his attendants will take the shipment there. Pleasure doing business with you. May I see you here again in the future."
Do not fight for a cause or for what you believe in: Fight for yourself, because who you are rarely changes. Zandrophin
Mariko sent a glare towards Zandrophin at the threat. "I take personal offense to your threat good sir. I am not an imbecile who would cheat on an agreement! If you want to throw accusations around like that, I don't see an arrangement between the two of us unless desperation takes hold on me." She felt that small amount of dislike for the man she was feeling before grow.
When the shipment came in, she could not be happier to give the address of her clinic to the man to have the supplies delivered. Once she had she looked back at Zandrophin and nodded. "I will see you again when I have more money to pay for the shipment. Until then, however, I will refrain from coming here, if you do not mind."
Zandrophin bowed again as Mariko left. Mentus rejoined him in the lobby, draping over a banister. Zandrophin grinned slightly once she'd gone.
She's intriguing, old friend...She's one of the few people who will call me on how I run my business...that takes guts.
She doesn't like you very much, Sir...of course, she did get you in a sour mood...that didn't help.
No...no it did not. Still, you can't please everyone. Come on...let's get more of that paperwork done.
Mentus clambered onto Zandrophin's shoulders as he ascended the staircase. The pair returned to the office, awaiting any other visitors who might show up.

Mariko left the building with a small huff. "The nerve of that man!" She couldn't help but mutter to herself as she looked around for Celeste, who had flown off somewhere before she had entered the building. Looking up, she saw Celeste pecking at the window before giving a loud trill and flying back down to her, as though she had just noticed her trainer was outside. Confused, Mariko looked closer at the window Celeste had been pecking at and noticed Zandrophin briefly in the window. With a smile, she allowed Celeste to land on her shoulder and began to walk away. What a way to have the final word.

A few days later, the remainder of the fee was dropped off by Miss Yamada's Pidgey. Zandrophin was at his desk when the bird tapped on his window. He took the money and thanked the bird. She didn't let the debt sit long...that's for sure. If this first exchange went so well...perhaps a more permanent deal was in the making.
He quickly returned to his work. He needed a staff for his now-completed store...and he needed one quickly. He began to sift through some dossiers Prasha and Mentus had compiled. There were some good people, some bad people, and some who just shouldn't have bothered to put in an application. Zandrophin walked down into the lobby, poured himself a drink...and began to look over the applicants.

Here Mariko was again, standing outside of one of, if not, the biggest buildings in Pyron. Looking down at the business card, she gave a small sigh, then straightened herself into her full height, getting ready to face whatever was to come her way. Sure Zandrophin had said that he had merely been testing her the first time they had met, and, he seemed a tad easier to converse with when he was at her clinic yesterday, but she still felt the need to keep her guard up.
On her shoulder, there for playing damage control, was Luka, since Celeste was currently back at the clinic just in case an emergency came in and Mariko was needed back at the clinic. "Well Luka, here goes nothing." She muttered to the Fletchling who gave a tweet of understanding. With that, Mariko slowly began to approach the doors of the building in front of her.
This must be the woman the boss was talking about...now...what was her name? Yamko....Yamato....Yamada! That's it.
He cleared his throat before speaking, his silky baritone voice echoing in the empty lobby. He spoke quietly, but with all the marble on the floors, his voice carried easily.
"Good day, Miss Yamada. I was told to be expecting you at some point. My employer has told me little about you, but then again, that's not my business to pry too deeply. I'll page him now...I'm sure he's eager to see you."
Lox walked over to the intercom at his desk and pushed the button.
"Sir, Miss Yamada is here to see you."
"Excellent, tell her I'll be right down."
True to his word, Zandrophin arrived at the second floor balcony overlooking the lobby in a matter of moments. He spread his arms wide in greeting,
"Miss Yamada...welcome back. I'm pleased that you could find the time to come by."
He came down the stairs and bowed to her before continuing, Mentus hovering around him.
"Would you care for a drink?"

Mariko merely raised an eyebrow at the greeting she was given by Zandrophin but shrugged it off. "Just water if you don't mind." She answered for his question about a drink. From her shoulder, Luka gave a small shudder and readjusted himself on her shoulder since he was still getting used to resting there. "Don't mind him, Luka is not used to being this far away from the clinic, or my home. This is the most he has traveled outside of his Pokeball." She commented giving the bird Pokemon a small, calming smile in hopes that it would make the Pokemon more comfortable. Then she saw that the bird Pokemon was watching the Abra that Zandrophin seemed to always have nearby, a look of uncertainty on his face. "I doubt he will try anything. Calm down." She whispered to the Pokemon raising a hand up to the Fletchling's head and giving it a few soothing pats.
She then turned her attention back to Zandrophin and cleared her throat. "Shall we get started?" She questioned.

Zandrophin nodded at her request for water. He walked over to the bar and pulled out an imported crystal glass, dropped two cubes of ice into the glass, and added the water. He then set about preparing his drink: a glass of chamomile tea with a drop of Oran berry juice.
"Don't mind him, Luka is not used to being this far away from the clinic, or my home. This is the most he has traveled outside of his Pokeball."
Zandrophin grinned at this and replied without stopping his work,
"It's quite alright. It's always unnerving being in a new place for the first time. That's a feeling Mentus and I know quite well." Sir...the bird is looking at me. He's very wary of me.
He's smart to be.
He walked back to Mariko and handed her the drink.
"You needn't worry about Mentus, Luka...he's harmless..."
With this, Mentus lightly swatted at the Fletchling's tail feathers playfully with Psychic, similar to a cat.
"....mostly. Won't you please take a seat, Miss Yamada...as you said...we ought to begin our discussion."
He led Mariko over to the waiting area in the lobby, gesturing for her to sit before he sat.
"So...we need to set up a more long-term agreement, yes? Your clinic needs supplies, and my company can provide them. The question comes to what exactly you need; we can send large shipments of bulk, general purpose medical supplies, but I was wondering if you needed any certain items more than others; I'd hate to send you salves when you really need bandages, for example."
"You can place these orders on a case-by-case basis, of course. If you would rather just set up an agreement for the general purpose shipments, we can do that...that's a lot less paperwork. So....let's begin....what exactly do you need from my suppliers?"
