Tsubame was even more annoyed at the kangaskan. Overprotection was something Tsubame could never even begin to grasp an understanding of; as much as he cared for Kaname, he was plenty self-sufficient as was Tsubame. Not even all of the people Tsubame dated could spring forth that much emotion from him.
“She thinks of me as her child, so she gets very overprotective when she sees someone use the same line that other boys use when they first meet me. It’s going…to be hard to get her in her Pokeball now.”
Giving his trademark heh and smirking he could only respond by asking him, ”Perhaps every lame guy says that when they first meet you, but do they ever intend to follow through once they know?” He grinned. ’Let the over protective pokemon ponder that.’ he thought as he leaned in closer to the boy. ”I’d still take you home if your pokemon’d let me.”

Mariko shook her head at the noise level in her Clinic. "Your trainer sure likes to make his presence known...." She said, playfully, to the Sneasel in front of her. She then looked over at Celeste and Luka. "Can you two go bring one of the hammocks we use to carry Pokemon with? I think this little one would be more comfortable not being out in the open in his state." She asked them, watching as they left to do as she had ask.
It was then that she decided to end the situation beginning in her waiting room. "Sir, if your paperwork is done, I am about to move your Sneasel to the back so that it can rest and let the medicine kick in. I have a waiting area in the back as well if you would like to be with him." She said watching as Celeste and Luka came through the curtain covered doorway that led to the back with the hammock she had asked for. She then gently picked up the Sneasel again and put him delicately into the hammocks confines so that it could be moved. "Take him to bed 1 please." She ordered softly to her beloved Pokemon. Both made a sound of confirmation before moving back to the back slowly, and gracefully with the patient.
After that was done, she turned her attention to Orchid. "I can take care of your Pokemon now as well sir. If you would not mind bringing up your paperwork for me to look at." She commented.
If this boy got any closer, Kangaskhan would break his bones, and if Xenneth allowed him to get any closer he would end up jumping his bones. It was all nauseating to the point that Xenneth leaned away from the flirtatious male. At a time like this, he needed a saving grace seeing that if he would break his character, it would probably be nothing short of a face palm, a foot stamp, and a spinning kick to someone’s upper lobe. However, there was one voice that would save him…one voice like the herald from the halls of Valhalla calling their angels home…
"I can take care of your Pokemon now as well sir. If you would not mind bringing up your paperwork for me to look at."
If anyone owed this woman dinner, it was Xenneth.
“Sure!” he said happily leaping up and Turtwig following. The Kangaskhan mother was following right behind and made herself known with a swipe of her tail between Tsubame and the fleeing Xenneth. His hand reached the clipboard to the desk placing it down and then sliding the form right-side up to Mariko. Although there was some blank spaces and scratches, he known this well enough that there would be a patient and doctor confidentiality, and not to mention he sold it all so well with a smile that screamed out, “Yeah, I know I made no mistakes.” He did not expect everything to go well, but what was the harm in trying?
Mariko was surprised with how quickly Orchid approached after she had called out that she could see his Pokemon, but didn't show it. Instead she took the paperwork and began reading it over. Internally she raised an eyebrow at all the blanks and the crossed out boxes, but decided to ignore that for now. "So, you wish for me to check over your Turtwig? Do you want me to look over your Kangaskhan as well?" She asked finally taking the paperwork off the clipboard and placing it in the open filing cabinet under the counter, while placing the empty clipboard in the bin next to the cabinet. "I hate to say it, but it would be a little extra, not too much, but that's up to you."
She then patted the counter. “May I see your Turtwig up here please? I need to look it over first before I do anything. It’s my standard procedure.” She said giving a reassuring smile to the man in front of him.
That could not have been a good sound, and it was not. Xenneth’s glance went from the woman behind the counter just for a second to see the Kangaskhan mother looking back at her tail. There, Xenneth could see the baby at the end on the floor after knocking over a table somehow. How could they be so destructive after turning around just for a second? The Jungle Island was what deserved the blame! They were so uncivilized that they saw anything and their imagination assumed a makeshift jungle gym for mother and child. With his glance going back to Mariko, innocently, he simply said with a passive smile, “Sure! I don’t mind at all!”
With the pat on the counter, Xenneth followed suit letting his eyes go to the Turtwig as Mariko spoke. It was almost second nature that he communicated with the grass Pokemon with a lock of their eyes and a gesture of his head as the Pokemon leapt upon the counter for Mariko to see. “I understand,” he said, “I trust you, so no need to explain policy.”
He said this whole-heartedly unlike his last statements that were built from passive remarks and well-versed lines that could have come off any script that involved politeness from the nineteenth century. However, there was something about the woman’s recent display that made him question her background...something mysterious, ironically enough.
Mariko nodded a little hesitantly at the others sudden change of mind. Internally shaking her head, she began to examine the Turtwig that was on the counter. "Let's see...." She muttered to herself. After a few moments she nodded. "Everything seems to be fine externally. In fact he looks very healthy." She commented, smiling at said Turtwig. "And are you sure about your Kangaskhan? The way you answered was a little strange." She asked, slightly confused. She needed to know before she could continue.
While she waited she made a note to check on the Sneasel she had moved to the back in about an hour to see if the medicine had kicked in.
“Yeah, it’s just…” his eyes and head were thrown for a playful toss. The Kangaskhan mother and child being a thought in his mind was what brought a gentle smile to his feminine facial features, “I guess...well, you’ll see. I do want them to be in perfect health like Turtwig.”
His gentle hand, just as delicate as a mother’s touch, swept over Turtwig’s head and brushed it gently. The Turtwig’s nose was up in a show of pride that its check-up was considered favorable, and even stamped around in a rounded circle to show it. Xenneth gave a small chuckle before he swept around, spinning on his heel, and let his back be caught by the counter as if it was a cushion with the grace he displayed. His right hand came up and his fingers brushed back. “Ms. Konny?” his voice simply called as the Kangaskhan mother turned her head, acknowledging the gesture and stamped over with the Kangaskhan child holding on to its mother’s tail.
“Kaaaangaaaa!” It’s gruff voice was almost like a song with how it responded to Xenneth. It clearly was playful with Xenneth as if he was some sort of nanny; something he was well aware of.
“How about letting her,” his lips folded, hesitant to suggest what he was about to say, “Give you both a check-up? I know! You feel fine because of the medicines, but I think you will be more relaxed if you get a proper check-up, m’kay?” His hands had gestured left to right as if he was trying to sway the Kangaskhan mother to his suggestion rather than persuade with just words.
The dance of an appealing figure was good at calming almost any savage beast.
As the Kangaskhan mother’s eyes followed, they had sunk into a half-close as if showing somewhat of a disappointment. The mother stamped over towards the woman behind the counter, reeling its head just above leveled to the female’s eyes as if she was trying to search for some sort of fear. “You know,” Xenneth’s right hand came up before the mother’s face, digressing her attention, to him once more, “You have been through a lot of battles, and it may do some good to see if the little one is okay by a good doctor!”
The Kangaskhan mother’s eyes gone to Xenneth’s smile, then to Mariko, then to Xenneth again, and then to Mariko…
What the heck? It could not be that bad, right? At least, that’s what the shrug of the shoulder told Xenneth who gave off a breath of relief and stepped to the side of the Kangaskhan mother’s left. He reached up, a gentle hand patted her shoulder as he given a warm smile once more. “Thank you! Just trust me, m’kay?” Xenneth’s words were to the Kangaskhan mother, but his eyes had gone to Mariko and a nod of his head giving her approval.
Whatever she was going to do, Xenneth was sure to make note of it: not to hesitate.
Mariko merely watched the Kangaskhan with a raised eyebrow as she tried to intimidate her. It was kind of funny to think that she would back down merely because of her size. Once Orchid had convinced the Kangaskhan that she was okay, Mariko nodded back and proceeded to walk to the small area of the counter that opened into the waiting area. She moved slowly over to the Kangaskhan with an air of confidence so that she didn't make the Pokemon feel like she was not trustworthy. Once she was beside the Pokemon, she immediately went to work, minding where Orchid was, on examining the Pokemon's exterior.
A small frown crossed her face as she noticed a couple of battle scars, though she knew that she couldn't do much for them since the looked to be as healed as they were going to get. Perhaps she could whip up something later to make them fade a little, if she was allowed to do so. Continuing her observations, she carefully stepped over the Kangaskhan's tail all-the-while telling the owner of the tail that she was merely stepping over it and that she was not doing anything else, in a soothing voice that she had years to perfect from her work when she was still in Ecruteak. Once on the other side of the Pokemon she continued her observations and came to the conclusion that the scars were the only thing externally that she would need to discuss.
Once she was sure she had noted everything she nodded to herself. She then made herself as non-threatening as possible and, in the same soothing tone as before, she asked the Kangaskhan mother, "Is it alright for me to look over your little one? If not, all you need do is shake your head and I will return behind the counter and speak with your trainer about the rest of the examination."
Even if Orchid had said it was alright, it was always best to ask the actual Pokemon its opinion first.
There was a huff from the Kangaskhan and a blow of the nostrils. Xenneth, looking up to her, patted her shoulder only to get no response as she stuck her nose in the air in the most snobbish way possible. The violet haired boy smiled seeing the Kangaskhan mother toot her head up in further (if it were even possible) and reached her tail around slowly and lifted it into the air presenting the Kangaskhan child that was still playing on its mother’s tail. It smiled as he used one free hand to rise and cooed out in a melodious manner towards Mariko as if welcoming her to the backside of its mother.
“I usually take that as a ‘yes’ for strangers.”
Xenneth’s comment was probably not reassuring, but it was a prime example of how difficult the Kangaskhan mother was when it came to other individuals besides him. Her characteristics shown since the day they met: a strong independent mother with untapped potential physically and emotionally. Just thinking about it made Xenneth come to the mother in an alluring way, letting him place his shoulder against her rough body and her face showing a slight rosy red flush as he laid against her. At the very least, it seemed to calm her and made her forget the examination.
But not completely, as even one eye was opened and its head turned to its left looking at all three of them in its eye sight: the child she loved, the nanny she trusted (which was Xenneth in her eyes), and the doctor who was within tail’s reach if anything went wrong at that moment.
Mariko internally let out a small sigh at how the mother seemed to trust her but, at the same time, seemed to threaten her with the way she was holding her tail. Externally, she smiled gently at the baby Kangaskhan waving back. "Hello little one. Your mother has given me permission to look you over." She said walking close enough to look the baby Pokemon over, but not enough to make the mother feel like her baby was in danger.
After looking the little one over she nodded once again to herself and turned her attention to the mother. "Your baby looks extremely healthy. You are an excellent mother." She said kindly before looking at the tail blocking her way back to the counter opening. "May I please get through? I would like to discuss things with Orchid." She asked, keeping her tone light, and making sure it was polite.
Seeing the woman work, he was almost bewildered to the point that he felt at ease. Her nature when dealing with the Kangaskhan mother and child put him in the place where he worked so long ago with his family. Just watching them, he could not think when was the last time he was in such a calm and natural setting that had given him a sense of normalcy; a sense that things could be peaceful and tranquil. The moment was shattered as his body became tense once more, his shoulders lifting again to show that strong physique as he ran his left hand at the edge of the desk.
The Kangaskhan mother had not been against Mariko having her path cleared. If anything, she seemed satisfied. Most likely grateful, it swung its tail around and took three massive steps walking by Xenneth while the young child clung onto her tail, playing its own game of “Piggy Back.” Xenneth waving to the young Kangaskhan, it waved back as if their interaction was second nature to his façade of an identity. Regardless, Orchid had turned a shoulder to the counter as well as his attention to Mariko as the Kangaskhan mother cleared her path. His hand patted the desktop in anticipation in one sound tap of his knuckles.
“Yes?” his face etched in stone, even for his feminine features, he seemed hardened to take the brunt of whatever news she had.
Mariko raised an eyebrow at the tone the other used. "Sir, there is no need to worry. Your Kangaskhan is fine. What I wanted to discuss is the fact that she does have some battle scars that are prominent. I was wondering if you would like me to make something that would fade them slightly. I know some Pokemon like to carry their scars with pride, but sometimes they don't. This is as much up to you as it is your Kangaskhan." She said, crossing her arms lightly, one of her fingers moving to tap her side.
Why she was doing this action now, as it was usually reserved for when she was annoyed or bored, she didn't know, but she suspected it was because she didn't seem to know what to expect next with this group. "I'll let you think about this while we go to the back. The rest of my equipment is there. You said on your papers you wanted blood work right?"
“Oh!” his voice and composure showing he was somewhat stunned, “I mean…oh!”
A loss of words among many. The violet haired boy was not sure how he could properly explain himself. After all, his history was something he not dared mention to the public, not now or ever. “My apologies,” he began, “Busy week.” he ended. The explanation was short and simplea s he tried to keep to business and even sold it with a petite smile, and probably one of the first ones that was close to honest and with the best intentions. There was no need to project his paranoia and his distrusts towards this woman; he could see that, but his old habits were a monstrosity that reared its head in every gesture, tone, and bat of an eye.
“Yes, blood work would be fine.” he noted, “I’ll speak to Ms. Konny about the scars, though. To be honest, I haven’t really noticed them since I’ve been with her. I have never seen a Kangaskhan up close since last month, and this would be the first one ever.” he hinted at how long their relationship had lasted. Even with such a small and marginal time, it was enough for her to look at him like some second to none family member nanny that she called on to hold her child until she saw fit. The Kangaskhan mother’s ears were perked up and eyes shifting to Xenneth and Mariko every now and again, a show of its constant awareness considering its environment it came from.
Xenneth had caught the glance, but only just turned to Mariko with a weary smile as bobbed his head in a minor passive manner. “Umm…I’ll just need a minute with her.” he noted.
Mariko nodded in understanding. "That's fine. Like I said though, if you want the blood work done, we need to go to the back. I can go on ahead and get things ready if you would like to speak to your Kangaskhan out here. Or you can follow me to the back and discuss it there. Either way would be fine since it allows me to do more than one thing at once. I'll need to check on the Sneasel in about thirty more minutes as it is." She said before she began to move to a door that was her way to the back while she was behind the counter. Opening it, she called out: "Celeste, Luka, can you two come here and watch the front for me? I have to move to the back for a little while."
Almost instantly the two bird Pokemon were flying through the door and perching themselves on the counter. Mariko shook her head with a small laugh at how eager they were to help. "You two are absolutely amusing sometimes. Celeste, when the owner of the Sneasel brings over his paperwork, place it under the counter in that place so it is not out in the open. I'll get to it as soon as possible. Luka, remember what I taught you, ask Celeste for help if you need it." She instructed, getting small calls of confirmation. She then turned to Orchid. "So, which option do you wish to go with?"
Going to back rooms with women he knew nothing about? Xenneth tried to avoid this a lot.
However, looking to the Kangaskhan mother should have brought her health to his concern, but his eye going to the perverted bi-sexual guy in the clinic made him reconsider. He actually juggled the options in his head like a life-and-death scenario and in the end given away to Mariko’s most promising option that would guarantee no hand would be laid upon some undesirable areas: “Coming.” he quipped as he raised a hand flagging the mother Kangaskhan towards his position. She followed, happily but somewhat curious as Xenneth had not said more. “It’s just a quick walk down the hall. Okay?” he said lifting his Pokeball to her face.
There was simply a small grunt of a reply; not aggressive but rather just groggy because of her form and deep voice.
A small beam pressed against the mother’s skin from the Pokeball and in a flash of light, there was a clamp as the Pokemon was returned into the ball. “They can be clumsy at times, and you have a nice office. I can’t thank you enough, so I’ll try to be more considerate.” Xenneth insisted as he walked towards the doorway where she stood. “I do not doubt that Ms. Konny will refuse the bloodwork upon request. She seemed to cooperate with you more than other people in the past. You have an…interesting way of handling Pokemon.” he inquired more than simply commented, somewhat perplexed by her turn of face when the situation called for it.
It almost made Xenneth wonder about her characteristics in general.
