When she had gotten the notice, Tanya didn’t know what to think and she immediately made the journey to where she heard the new village had formed. Her tribe… The one she had left because she had been so fed up with it had become a permanent settlement. “Well, Esperanza, would you look at this…. River, you weren’t with me when I was with this group, but let me tell you this. It was ridiculous how often we moved around. Ridiculous.” Tanya gave a small scoff after that sentence before looking back at the newly built wooden houses that surrounded her.
In the center of the village was still the Elders Tent, but a little further away was another large tent, this one was the newly created gym. The gym that apparently the reason that the village now existed. “It makes me curious to see who it was that made this happen. Not gonna lie, I think I might laugh if it is one of the elders who got as fed up with having to move around.” She scoffed giving a small smile to Esperanza, who had crawled her way up to her shoulder. Beside her, River gave a small ‘Tympole’ and bounced a couple of times in confusion.
He had done it! He had made the elders agree to stay in the place his mother loved! He had solidified his home! He had gained his dream, and apparently, somewhere along the way, gained respect in the village. That, however, didn’t stop him from causing ruckuses whenever possible. “They’re s-still after us?! Hang on Shard, I-I’m going to t-try something!” The Snivy in question tightened his arms around Maleko’s neck as the boy turned a corner sharply, then another, ducking in between the new wooden buildings around them.
“Where did that brat go?” A voice could be heard shouting from somewhere back in the area Maleko had just ducked away from.
“Slipper thing isn’t he? Damnit! Now how the hell am I supposed to get this out of my tunic?” Another could be heard.
Maleko chanced a small snicker at this. “I got them good, d-didn’t I Shard? S-See if they talk about my dad like that again.” Shard gave his own version of a snicker, for once completely okay with his trainer pulling a prank. Moving further through the village, sticking to the alleys between the houses, Maleko decided to wait out the backlash that would occur if he was to show up in the main area right now by going to the area just a little ways near the entrance to the newly established village.
When he got there, however, he didn’t expect to see someone just standing there. Curiosity getting the better of him, he walked forward a little and decided to call out to her. “E-Excuse me, are you l-lost?”
Tanya turned slightly with a eyebrow raised at the sudden question that was called out to her. Noticing that it was a little kid, she didn’t recognize, she rolled her eyes and scoffed. “What gave you that impression? Just because I’m standing here like this doesn’t mean I’m lost. Go off and play with your stuffed Pokemon or something.” She responded off-handedly. From her shouldering Esperanza gave a small laugh, or at least what Tanya had come to associate as a laugh. River too seemed to find what she said funny since he too gave a small laugh and pounced even higher in place. “Stop that you too. Just because I seemed to have a point, doesn’t mean you should rub it in.” She said, though she couldn’t help the smirk that crossed her face at her Pokemon’s amusement. They definitely were her Pokemon. They were starting to show her type of humor, be it as harsh as it could be at any given time.
Well… this woman was rude…. Also, first impression said that she was someone he would not get along with. Narrowing his eyes, he decided to address the woman in front of him on her comments. “Just because I’m y-young, doesn’t m-mean I’m not a Pokemon t-trainer like you are.” Shard gave a hiss of agreement at the comment, glaring at the woman from his shoulder. This woman was rubbing him the wrong way anyways. Something about her gave a screech of danger in the back of his mind. This seemed to also be clear to his trainer as the boy’s eyes moved to look at him briefly before returning to the woman in front of them. “Who are y-you? W-What do you w-want with the village?” This was snapped at the woman. Like his Pokemon partner, he too was starting to notice something off about this girl. The tunic she was wearing under her vest looked all too familiar to him, as it matched the one he was wearing under his newly added over shirt. Just who was she and what was she doing here in the first place?
Tanya’s eyebrows raised in mock surprise at how quickly the other seemed to move to defend himself and how quickly his Pokemon decided to make her the public enemy. “It’s rude not to introduce yourself first kid. Society frowns on those who are impolite.” She said, skipping a response to the comment the boy made about defending his age. “Besides, I have every right to be standing right here. After all, before these buildings popped up, these people were nomads. I just got sick and tired of the moving lifestyle and decided I was going to chill on my own.” She then looked at her two Pokemon who were giving the Snivy on the boy’s shoulder a cold look a piece.
“By the way, keep your attack brat under control. It looks like it’s contemplating the worst mistake of its life.” She commented as Esperanza hunched herself up on her shoulder, prepared to make a move should the other Pokemon try anything. “I’m only here to see for myself if the rumor that a new village had been established by the nomads I had left. Though… I see that the people are still as friendly as always. Attack first, ask later am I right? That is still the policy the elder idiots have right?” She asked, a smirk playing on her lips at her opinion.
“W-What are you talking about?” He asked staring down the woman, his mind going over her words. “You l-lived in the v-village before?” He wasn’t sure if he could believe that with the way the other was acting, and Shard seemed to agree with the fact that he seemed to be in a bad mood with the amount of hissing he was doing. “And w-what do you mean b-by attack first? W-We don’t attack a-anyone.” He snapped, Shard’s hissing picking up in volume. He then had to put his hand on Shard’s head to keep him from doing anything since he was sure that without his hand on the Pokemon’s head he would attack the woman, and she hadn’t attacked them so there was no reason for that just yet. Then it hit him like an afterthought. “M-My name is Maleko… n-not sure it is a p-pleasure to meet you.”
“Oooo… Is that a spine I see?” Tanya snarked before she gave a laugh. “Maleko, huh? Name’s Tanya, and yeah, I lived with this group when I was younger. I got super bored with them and left.” She said calming down from the laughing, but a smirk was on her face. “And I meant what I said. There used to be an attack first and ask questions later clause when it came to traveling with this tribe. The fact that it’s a permanent settlement now shouldn’t have changed that. Unless it’s because you put it on the map.” She continued, knowing the last comment was something she would just love to see the response for, especially since she had made it seem like she had no idea who the boy in front of her was. “And the pleasure ain’t mine either kid. I just thought it would be fun to know who you were first. Name’s Tanya. Have ya heard of me?” Probably not since she was sure that she was a taboo subject of the village.
“N-nope. Never heard o-of you.” He was sure he had not heard her name before. She was getting on his nerves though. She was getting so on his nerves, that Shard seemed to be ready to release a vine to smack her, which he wouldn’t allow. However, just standing here and having the conversation that was occurring, was not getting him anywhere, nor was it making any sense.
“Seriously… y-you sound like a loon. I s-suggest you leave.” He was hoping that she would take his threat seriously. He was willing to do what was needed to protect his tribe. It didn’t matter how old he was. Of course this thought also went with one of what Tanya had said about attacking first. In this case he wasn’t going to be attacking first though, he had been questioning. All that questioning was leading to some rather upsetting responses, and some threats. Hopefully the girl would not have any more words about the situation, or about his home.
“Oh, my gawd. Prove my point why don’tcha. Threats count in my book as attack first question later. Lame, real lame ya brat.” Tanya snickered holding her arm out so that ‘Speranza could crawl forward on it. “Come at me. You’re little grass snake will be lunch. And when that happens, I’m gonna laugh” Both River and Esperanza gave their own versions of giggles, their obvious form of agreement on the situation. “Seriously, I’m wonderin’ how ya got through life without seeing the stupidity of the tribe… Unless your dear parents kept ya locked away in your tent. That wouldn’t be a shock or a surprise.” Tanya said calmly, rolling her eyes. “And I ain’t leavin’ ‘til I get a good look around. There are fancy houses now. And there’s a fancy ass tent over there that I wanna take a look see.” She knew that she was pushing buttons, but it was so easy. She was having fun making the brat in front of her act like an angry loser. Plus if he wanted a fight, it looked like she had a good advantage with ‘Speranza on her team.
Okay screw not falling into the same stereotype this woman brought up. She was insulting his home. She was insulting the way of life he grew up in. Her biggest offense though was making fun of Shard. No one can make fun of his best friend like that. He was the only one allowed to make jokes at him, and get reprimanded by the Pokemon in return. She was also insinuating that his other Pokemon were invalid by the way she waved her Bug Pokemon around like she was some sort of ultimate weapon.
Shard seemed to be just as enraged by the woman because his hissing was sharp, and had all the poison of a Pokemon ready to attack. “Y-You really don’t w-want to play with the buttons you are p-pushing.” Maleko growled out, rage boiling in his words as he said them. “Y-You might come to regret it.” Shard hissed out a harsh agreement, his eyes trained on the Tympole behind the girl. The look was one of serious contemplation, wonder at whether or not he could attack first before the little Pokemon would even have a chance to counter.
Tanya felt herself becoming slightly giddy with the goading the other was doing. She was leading him into a trap and, wouldn't ya know it, the little brat was walking into it with little pause whatsoever. Bless the poor boy’s ignorance, but this was too funny. “So ya wanna play rough huh kid? I knew ya would be just like the rest of the tribe.” Tanya sneered as she placed her hand on top of Esperanza’s head and gave it a pat. Esperanza cooed, and then moved away from the hand to crawl down Tanya’s back so she could get in front of her trainer. “How's about we battle this out huh? I would think it would be a fun game to play.”
He gave the girl in front of him another glare and Shard gave a louder hiss from his shoulder. The both of them were in agreement, the girl needed to be taken down a peg or two, and if they had to be the ones to do it then so be it. The problem was that he didn’t want to start a random battle in the middle of the village in case things got a little out of hand. That left taking this girl to his gym… which he also didn’t want to do. Ah screw it. If it had to be done, it had to be done. “We are not battling here. Let’s take this to my gym tent. I’m not letting you mess up all the hard work the tribe put into making this place a permanent settlement.” He made sure to infuse a good amount of his rage into the words we he said this. Shard gave a hiss of agreement and gave the Bug Pokemon, that was now down on the ground, a glare. The snake Pokemon was sure his friends wouldn’t like the tadpole Pokemon behind the girl and her Bug Pokemon either.
