Z chuckled as Scorpio walked up with grace, "well, I'm away a lot, and I'd assume that Lady Akane would be busy with her expanding kingdom of Celosia. Things have really been getting busy on the island. I have less time to travel around due to having to manage my gym and the mining company's business. How has your kingdom been fairing since I was last there?"
Scorpio walked up with the other members of Z's team that weren't busy elsewhere. All in all there was, Sparky, Scorpio, Haxorus, Ruby, Balmung, and tempest, ready to fight.
"It has been going quite well for Eirlys, though I will admit that I can't quite go anywhere without someone hovering over me now that everyone knows that I am pregnant," Eira said with a chuckle as she glanced at her own gathering team to see not only Grace, but Shimmer, Walrein, Bullet, Cloud, and Meta were ready and waiting for them to get started. "I'm happy that I was able to get away to come see you, even though Publius was trying to demand that he drop his work to come with me. Our teams seem ready to get started if you are?"
Meta bounced joyfully, eager to actually get to fight since he never got to do so any more since Shimmer and Bullet and Cloud took over the battling positions for the team.
Z smiled, "Yes, I think we can begin now. If you'll follow me, I'll take you to the place where we can battle without endangering the city."
Z led them out of the city limits until they reached a large open plane with a few rocks here and there, "This should do nicely," said Z as he took a pokeball off his belt.
He had long since stopped carrying his pokeballs on a necklace and had started using a belt like most trainers did these days. He enlarged the pokeball and held it up, "shall we go together to make things fair?"
"This looks perfect," Eira nodded once they were at the open field, noticing that it didn't give an advantage to either of their teams and actually made things easy for their more powerful Pokemon to let loose and not worry. She grabbed one of her pokeballs and smiled at him. "I think that will be best for us since our teams are so close in strength."
Eira paused for a moment to see if he was ready to go and then she tossed the ball into the air to release the first of her team to take on his team. Grace was ready to go and was much stronger as a Blissey than ever before, so much so that Eira didn't really feel worried about her baby taking on other Pokemon in a full battle.
Z tossed the pokeball into the air and his Haxorus emerged with a loud roar. It was a long time since he was in a real battle, so he was eager to go. Z smiled. The fact that this was a casual battle meant that he didn't have to worry about winning in order to maintain the reputation of his gym. Right now he just wanted to have a good time with an old friend.
Eira was actually excited to be having a casual battle that will let her test the abilities of her Pokemon without having something more on the line like a gym battle or a contest or, in the rare case, her own survival. She had never battled with Grace before outside of some basic training, so seeing Z start out with his Haxorus made her a little worried about how this battle was going to go, but she decided that it was about time she let Grace have her chance at actually battling for once.
"Alright Grace, let's start things out with a Metronome," Eira called to her partner Pokemon, hoping that this attack would actually be beneficial for them. Grace's arms began to glow with the attack before she began to toss beautiful white mud towards Haxorus, the Clear Smog doing hardly anything except covering the field with the shimmering mud.
"Haxorus," said Z, "use Poison Jab to start things off."
Haxorus roared and its left claw began to glow purple. Haxorus then charged at Grace trying to strike her with his claw. Z had been worried when Eira said metronome, due to the randomness of the attack. He was worried that an ice, dragon, or fairy move would come from the attack.
"Switch to your Protect!" Eira called to her faithful partner as the much more ferocious Pokemon came running towards her with a powerful attack charging up. Blissey began to glow slightly as a strong protective shield formed around her, one so strong that it would easily deflect an attack that struck it. Eira had to think hard about what they should do about Haxorus since the only move that could possibly do any sort of damage towards the large Dragon type was Metronome, but said attack was far too unpredictable for it to be used consistently throughout the battle. She supposed that she could always switch Grace for another one of her Pokemon, but she had promised herself that she would give Grace her fair chance at a battle now that she was at her peak strength.
Haxorus's claw struck the shield and the large dragon pokemon was thrown back. Haxorus pulled himself to his feet and shook the dirt off his body with a growl, *good move.* Z smiled at the good defense and thought of his next move, "Haxorus, use Rock Slide!" Haxorus roared and raised its arms up, causing large boulders to materialize in the air and rain down on the battlefield. The boulders wouldn't be to hard to dodge, but there were quite a bit of them, so that made things a bit more difficult.
"When it rains, it pours," said Z in a joking tone as the boulders rained down from the sky.
At the sight of the rocks and the quickly fading shield, Eira prayed that luck would be on her side as she called out her next order. "Metronome!"
Grace's arms began to glow white for a moment before they began to glow blue, the air around her arms beginning to stir as the rocks fell towards her at random. Grace waited until the rocks were close enough to her before she sliced through the air with her glowing arms, creating blades of air that were sharp enough to slice through the rocks. Eira let out a sigh of relief at the Air Cutter saving Grace when they needed it.
"Wow," said Z, "nice moves. Our turn. Haxorus, use Dragon Claw now!"
Haxorus roared and its claws glowed purple. Charging at his opponent, he tried to slash her across the body with his claws.
Z watched and waited for Eira to make her move. He knew that Grace could use her Protect move again to block and he didn't want to use Haxorus's most powerful move because it made half of his other moves weaker with each use. As Haxorus charged at Grace, he brought his claws down in an X shaped slash aiming to knock the younger pokemon back.
"Let's try this again, Grace! Use Metronome!" Eira called out, hoping for a lucky save like with the last attack, but knowing full well that she could potentially end up with a terrible move that would put Grace into harm's way. Grace's arms began to glow once more, but nothing seemed to happen until she began to beat at her large stomach with powerful slaps. Eira, needless to say, was greatly confused by Grace's sudden attempt at hitting herself, wondering what in the world she was doing. Defenseless at this point, Grace could only take the hit directly from Haxorus, rolling back from the force of the attack and now visibly damaged even with her large amount of health.
"Was that belly drum?" asked Z in confusion as Haxorus leapt back, "metronome really is a random attack. Haxorus, again!"
Haxorus charged another dragon claw and rushed in to attack again. He was getting a bit cocky and forgot that grace could use protect again, so he wasn't paying much attention to the other pokemon.
Grace was still a little dazed from using Belly Drum on itself and the massive HP hit that she took because of it, so she did not manage to dodge in time. Due to the force of the Dragon Claw, Grace when rolling back across the field until she was some distance away.
"Use your Softboiled," Eira called to her large partner in hopes of keeping her in the fight for just a little longer. Grace managed to roll herself onto her feet before she took her egg out of her pouch, the egg beginning to glow faintly to indicate that it was ready to be eaten and restore health. After only taking a couple of bites, Grace looked much better than before and was ready to battle once again as she placed the egg back into her pouch for safe keeping.
"Well," said Z, "that's handy to have on hand. Haxorus, bring the rain, Draco Meteor!"
Haxorus roared and began charging up a sphere of orange energy in his mouth, before pointing it up to the sky and firing it off as a blast. When the sphere was high enough, it detonated, raining down blasts of energy onto the battlefield. Haxorus staggered a bit after that attack, as it drained some of his energy whenever he used it, making its repeated use weaker each time.
