A Checking-In Check-Up

Mariko gave a nod at the confirmation before placing her hands on each side of Ruta's shoulder.  "This is not the most precise way of doing this.  Nor is it the most professional.  And I am sorry for that in advance.  Usually Finn helps me by using his hands as stabilizers, but since he is making sure the Pokemon in the waiting room are entertained while waiting for there trainers."  She apologized before she eased the shoulder back into place with a practiced gentle, yet firm force she had to learn for the times before she had Finn around to help her when he could.  Once she was sure that she had aligned Ruta's shoulder correctly she stepped back quickly to check, then moved back to give a brief massage to the shoulder to hopefully alleviate some of the pain Ruta could be feeling from the realignment of the bones.  "Alright, that should do it.  You did very well, and again, I am so sorry that I could not realign your arm more professionally."  She commented before looking over at Mentus.

"Mentus, please continue to hold her arm in place until after I apply the salve, if you don't mind?  I know you said she is strong, but I don't want to risk her flinching anyways."  She asked moving to the Mortar and Pestle she had mixed the first batch of repair salve in, and quickly began putting the next batch of needed herbs into the Mortar, and mixing them just as quickly and professionally as before.  While she was doing this, she made a call out to her littlest helper.  "Snowdrop do you mind getting a washcloth to wipe the blood away from Ruta's claws please?"

Snowdrop immedialy moved to do as asked, by going over to the basket that held the fresh washcloths and taking one out.  She then dunked it in the freshly collected water in the trough put at her level so that she could soak the washcloth.  Wringing it out, she moved to Ruta's claws and made quick work of the blood on the other Pokemon's claws, as gently as she could manage as she moved from tiptoe to normal footing to wash away the red liquid that was one of the basis of life.  Just as she finished, Mariko had made her way over with the new batch of repair salve, a new pair of gloves, and a dry cloth to dry the claws off first.  "Thank you Sweetie."  She said watching as Snowdrop nodded and moved to the side to wait for the dry cloth so that she could put the one she had used and the one Mariko was going to use in the used cloth basket.

Mariko finished the drying of the claws quickly, handing the cloth to Snowdrop, who went to put the cloths away, and began to apply the salve so that the claws would not have a chance to bleed again.  Once she was sure she was done, she took a step back and checked before giving a nod.  "Alright Mentus, you may let her arm rest for now.  I'll need you to hold her arm in place again when we wash the salve off though.  Speaking of washing of the salve...  Squirt, how would you feel about a shower?  Yours has finished setting by now."

Mariko had to cover her mouth to keep her giggling at the antics of the Blastoise from escaping, though her shoulders were traitorous as the shook slightly.  "I'll be sure to keep that in mind."  She said suppressing the laughter as best she could before she briefly pointed Celeste towards where she would like her to place the requested casting gauze.  "Celeste, can you also bring the other casting supplies?  Luka, please help her.   I have an eager patient to get to the showers."  She stated watching as the two bird Pokemon nodded and flew out to the front again.  Once they were out of sight, she turned her attention towards the waiting Blastoise.  "Alright Squirt, if you wouldn't mind following me."  She said gesturing for him to do just that.  The showers were a little bit further down, a little past the other trainers still waiting for their check-up results.  She would have to apologize to them while she was in the area, and explain that she had some serious cases come in.  Thankfully all of them were trainers she had treated or done a check-up for before so they would understand. 

After letting the other trainers know of the situation, Mariko ushered Squirt a little quicker towards the back where the showers were.  When they got to the shower area, Mariko stood just outside one of the larger stalls she had for Pokemon Squirt's size and turned on the water using the control that located on the outside.  "Alright, go ahead."  She said giving Squirt a smile and a gesture towards the water.

Mariko gave a small giggle at the Blastoise's enthusiasm.  "I'm glad that you're back to full spirits.  And you didn't cut in front of anyone.  All those people waiting have already gone through their tests.  I just need to go back and check their results as soon as I get you two back to Zandrophin.  It shouldn't take me too long at all, then I can check on Ruta and Zandrophin's conditions."  She stated as she motioned for the two of them to follow her back to where their trainer was.  Once she made sure the two were settled back with Zandrophin and Ruta, she went to her testing room and gathered the results for all the waiting area, and made her way to said waiting area.

As soon as was done telling the waiting patients their results and they had left, leaving the only people left in the clinic being Zandrophin's group, she waved the rest of her Pokemon into the back with her.  "So, Zandrophin, you haven't made any attempts to get up have you?"  She joked as she reached the area where her last remaining patients, for now at least, were situated.  "I would like to introduce you to the rest of my team.  The Scyther here is Finn, though I think you have seen him before I think.  The Amaura beside him is Ribbon.  And the little Natu riding on Ribbon's head is Jazz.  They help when they aren't entertaining the waiting area's crowd."  She said gesturing to each Pokemon in turn.  Once she was done with the introductions she waved over Finn.  "Finn, when we wash this patient's -here she waved towards Ruta- claws, would you be a dear and hold her shoulder?  I had to set it without you and I want you to check and see if it set in place correctly.  It's always better to have something like that doubled checked."  She asked getting a head tilt from the Pokemon.  Mariko immediately understood.  "Mentus here -she gestured to the Abra she was speaking about- will be holding the rest of her arm so that it won't make her fractures worse while I wash off the repair salve.  I need to make completely sure her shoulder is correctly set before I cast the rest of her arm."  She responded to the unasked question getting a nod from the Scyther in understanding. 

After that was done she looked over at Jazz.  "Could you start getting the casting materials ready? You can get the information from my mental notes."  She asked, a little more relaxed over the fact it was her own Pokemon that was going to be in her head for a short second.  Jazz gave her normal full body nod and then her eyes glowed briefly.  After that she gave a small chirp to Ribbon who moved to where the casting gauze was and began to measure it out, while getting the scissors ready to, all with her Psychic.  It was then that she looked over at Ruta.  "Your claws should be set enough with how long it took me to hand out all the results before.  Would you like to come with me to get the salve washed off now?"  She asked, then waited for the response.

Mariko gave a nod of thanks to Mentus and waved for the three Pokemon she needed to have with her to follow her. Luckily they didn't have to go all the way to the back this time. Instead of that, there was a set of sinks in an area a little closer that she used whenever the salves that needed to be washed off were on the hands or feet of the Pokemon, or humans, they were applied to. Leading the group over to the largest sink she turned on the water and waited until it warmed up slightly, knowing that cold water was not what was needed for a Pokemon that is more used to warmth. "Alright... Mentus, please hold Ruta's arm once more if you don't mind. Finn, can you do as I asked and check her shoulder's setting?" She asked, trying to make sure that the Pokemon was going to be completely ready for everything that was to come, from the washing off of the salve, to the casting of her arm. "Whenever your ready to wash the salve of Ruta, and the others have your arm ready, go ahead and stick your claws under the water." She said to the Pokemon that she was currently helping.

While she was saying this, Finn was waiting until he was given some sort of sign that it would be okay for him to check the setting of the Excadrill's shoulder. He wasn't going to touch the other Pokemon without knowing that they were okay with it, and he also didn't want to have the Pokemon backlash at him for trying to help.  He had had it happen before, and he didn't want to experience it again if he had any say in the matter.

Mariko gave a smile at the comments made by Mentus and looked over at Ruta. "I'm glad you're feeling better. Finn would like to check your shoulder. Would that be alright? I forgot he usually waits for permission first, before seeing what he can do to help. The last time he helped out, he got a fist to his nose, and he doesn't wish for a repeat of any sort." She explained to the Pokemon. Finn gave a very enthusiastic nod of agreement, a shiver visibly going through him as the memory played once more in his head. Yes, that was definitely something he would like to avoid having happen again.

She then looked at Mentus once more. "While that is being settled, can you tell me what you have noticed about Zandrophin's condition? It is obvious he has strained muscles, and there is something else wrong that is causing him to cough up blood... But is there something else I may be missing just by observation? I want to know what I am getting into. I don't want to leave anything untreated. And before I can work on Squirt's bruises and Scratches, I want to start his treatment. Ruta's casting will obviously have to come first, but Zandrophin is my second priority with his condition right now." She asked, waiting to see what the Abra would be able to tell her.

Upon getting the confirmation that it was alright to check the other Pokemon's shoulder, Finn placed both hands on either side of Ruta's shoulder. Mariko had done a good job in setting the other Pokemon's shoulder, but it was still a little off. Giving a small sound of apology he put a slight amount of pressure on either side and finished setting the alignment. As soon as he was done, he gave a call to Mariko to let her know he was done.

Mariko looked over at the call and gave a nod of confirmation before looking back at Mentus. "Thank you for being truthful with me. I hope you will do exactly as you said. I don't like being lied to by my patients, especially if their health could be permanently damaged. Now, while I cast Ruta's arm, I'll ask Zandrophin questions." She stated as she waved the three Pokemon to follow her. Once she was back in the room with Zandrophin and Squirt, she looked over to where Jazz and Ribbon were. There, was the casting gauze cut to what was needed, and the casting cement ready to be mixed. "Alright Mentus, you may let Ruta's arm go. I'm going to let her have a couple moments with her arm relaxed before I cast it." She said before going over to check the casting equipment one more time. "So Zandrophin, since you are next on the priority list, can you tell me where the pain is primarily?" She asked giving him a glance from the corner of her eye before she focused on equipment she would be working with shortly.
