Astina was unsure of how to respond to what they were saying, still not sure what exactly they were talking about, but figuring that she should say something polite since they were willing to help her.
"I-I would like to help them if I can," she said, squaring her shoulders as she looked up at the woman that was exceptionally taller than her. "I do not know some of the things that you are saying, since I do not have those phrases where I am from, but I know these children need help and I would like to do what I can."

Brist raised an eyebrow at the response. She turned to Zandrophin.
"Is this girl on the level? Y'know how I feel about my babies."
"I know, Brist...I assure you...she means them, and you, no harm."
"Alright, Brain Boy....if you say she's good, I trust ya."
Brist returned her attention to the woman,
"Yea, these kids need help. They've got nowhere else to go, yet they're tired of this place. They need open space to run and express themselves. I've prayed every night for a solution...and I'm not usually one to jump to conclusions...but if you're the one who can help me and my kids out, I'll listen to ya."
Brist whistled loudly,
"Hey, kids! C'mere! This nice lady may be able to help us out!"
In an instant, the trio was surrounded by at least 100 children of varying sizes and ages. They began to spew questions.
"Who are you?" "Why do you have those funny clothes?" "Where are you from?" "When did you get here?" "How long will you be here?"
But the overlying question was: "What can you do to help us?"
Zandrophin spoke telepathically to Astina,
I've brought your group of desperate people...perhaps you can explain to them how you can help. The floor is yours.

Astina was going to reply to the woman, but was cut off by the mass of children coming towards her. She had never seen so many children in one place in her entire life and honestly felt a little overwhelmed since many of these children were hardly younger than herself. Astina took a deep breath at Zandrophin's words before she looked at the children evenly so she could answer their questions in turn.
"My name is Astina and I am the Priestess of the Lady Cresselia," she told them calmly, her demeanor shifting slightly as she came to remember that this was a part of her duty as a priestess. "I have come from a far off land just recently to tell you all of my Lord Darkrai and Lady Cresselia, who protect us all from their home in the night sky. If you would like to listen to me and follow the teachings of my Lord and Lady, then I believe my people will welcome you into our tribe when I return with you."
There were varying reactions to the words of this strangely-dressed woman. Many of the older children rolled their eyes and walked away. They had no interest in religion, and as such, refused to listen. A few of the younger ones just simply lost interest and wandered off. After some had filtered out of the group, about 70 of the children remained ready to listen. One of the older ones spoke up.
"Tell me, Miss....what exactly are the tenants of your religion? I don't think any of us have even heard about these deities...and any explanation may help us figure out for ourselves if you can help us."

Astina was slightly disheartened by the children leaving without hearing her out, but having one of them ask her to explain herself gave her a bit of courage to continue talking. "My Lord and Lady only wish for us to live in harmony with one another and the nature around us. My people are forbidden to bring harm to any living creature, human, Pokemon, or plants. Lady Cresselia was once a very caring woman who sought peace between everyone and everything, so we are taught to continue her work and bring peace to the world around us."
She paused for a moment to gather her thoughts before she continued her description of what she had been taught her entire life. "Our Lord Darkrai was once a noble knight that protected all of those around him, no matter who or what they were. We are taught that he will continue to protect us in our time of need, but that we must not rely on his protection in our day to day lives. We must work hard like he once did if we are to be happy."
Astina smiled at the children before her, some of which were not much younger than she was she noticed. "Is there anything you would like to know in particular?"

The descriptions of the deities did help the children visualize. Zandrophin could read a few of their thoughts, and he shared them with Astina.
"They've got an image of a beautiful woman in a field of flowers and a strapping knight standing at her side. Children respond better with a visual in their heads...and you've achieved that. Well done."
Again, one of the older children spoke up...albeit by bombarding Astina with questions,
"So...what exactly do followers of Cresselia and Darkrai have to do to prove themselves? Is there a test? Can you fail? What happens if you fail? Can you try again? After you prove yourself, what happens? Will new members be initiated into a group of some sort?"
The questions continued, almost incoherently, as more of the younglings spoke at once. Zandrophin mentally cut through the clamor,
"The children may have many questions...but at least you've piqued their interest. Many of them have nowhere else to go, and this curiosity will make many of them go with you."

"There is no real test. Lady Cresselia was a welcoming woman who allowed all to be graced by her presence," Astina informed them, glad that they were interested in what she had to say. She had been worried at first that none of them would stay to listen to her, but now she had quite the audience and had to answer them as best she could. "We will welcome you into our midst just as Lady Cresselia would have if you vow to follow our ways and follow the teachings that our Lord and Lady have shared with us. We, at this time, are welcoming all who wish to come to us, no matter the age or what their past may have been like. All we care for is the person they are today and will be in the future. If you would like to know more, please ask me one at a time, so I may answer each of your questions in turn."

A gentle murmur broke out from the collection of young people. The older child who spoke earlier could be heard over many of the others,
"Working to help other people to make the world better? That doesn't sound too bad...and I bet a lot of us would be good at it. After all, we know how it feels to be at the bottom. Why not try to help others avoid that feeling?"
There was a bit of disagreement with her notions from another of the girls,
"Why should we help people? No-one helped us before we came here!"
"So...what, Jaen...you just want to continue the suffering? That's wrong!"
"That's LIFE, Cor....that's how it works!"
"It doesn't have to be that way, though..."
"Whatever...I'm not listening to this anymore."
As Jaen began to walk away, a small group of the young people followed after her. Cor sighed, turned to the priestess, and approached her. She nodded after a few moments and spoke,
"I'll go with you, Miss. I, for one, want to help people...and I'm sure those of us still here want to, as well. Where do we sign up?"

Astina was concerned when so many of the children had chosen to leave instead of continuing to hear her out, but did not dwell on it as she still had an audience to speak to for now.
"All you must do is come with me. I will lead you to our tribe and introduce you to our priest of Lord Darkrai, Hannia, who will take care of you while I continue on my travels to gather more people for our tribe," Astina informed the group of children still remaining. "I will warn you, our lives are much different than the lives that you know so well here. We do not have these large buildings all around us like you do and must work hard for what we have. If you are willing, then please gather your things so you may follow me as soon as possible."
