Nicole and Nero had barely dodged the Flash Cannon that the Pokemon in front of them had produced, when they heard Z’s command for everyone in the area to vacate and that he would take care of. However, that command didn’t sit well with her at all. “Z, don’t be crazy! You can’t take that thing on all by yourself!” She shouted over the chaos towards the boy. From her side, Nero’s hackles were raised as he let out a growl at the Pokemon who seemed to want to continue its raging. Even though she had said that, she didn’t know what she could do to help. Nero was exhausted from travel… But she did have Phaedra…. She could help somehow if Z needed it. She was just going to have to wait and see though. She didn’t want to get in the others way if he had an idea, but at the same time… Would his Pokemon be enough to take on the Pokemon that had come from below the ground? Would having faith in the other help him to at least weaken the other Pokemon? Not wanting to take chances, she reached up to her backpack strap and pulled Phaedra’s Pokeball off it, immediately throwing it up and releasing the Delphox. She would help Z out in any way needed, even if it was distracting the Pokemon so that his Pokemon could get in attacks.

Z shook his head, "As the Gym Leader of this town, it is my duty to keep the people in it safe from danger. My team will fight to keep this thing from getting into the town, so it won't cause unnecessary death and destruction. The others have to make sure that those who can't defend themselves can get to safety in case we fail."

Sparky nodded and Z raised his arm to reveal a bracelet with a stone embedded in it, "Sparky, Mega Evolve!"

Z brought his hand up and touched the stone, causing a gauntlet on sparky's arm to glow as a stone embedded in it resonated with the power. Energy flowed out and covered her in a sphere that broke apart to reveal her Mega form. "Everyone," said Z to his team, "this pokemon doesn't get past us so long as we draw breath! We hold it here until either we fall or it does."

Z's declaration got roars of approval from his pokemon and they got into positions in front of the steel titan, blocking its path to the town of Starfort, while the workers from the dig ran off to help evacuate the citizens to safety. Sparky shot a stream of flame that created a ring of fire around the metal titan.

Maya's mind was a blank and her mouth was stuck in an open mouth slack jawed look of horror. If her lungs were functioning she probably be screaming at the top of her lungs doing a very good scream queen impression. Sounds of destruction, stomping and crunching flickered and echoed through her brain as she recalled cowering inside her destroyed house, the ground quaking and shuddering.

"A regi..." Her mouth formed those vacant words as she saw the disturbing dotted "eyes" that were similar to the ones that haunted her in her nightmares. She couldn't move. Her feet were rooted to the ground and the only thing that she could hear were the sounds of destruction and the screaming of friends and family now gone for longer than she thought.

Aki gave a panicked shrieking, tugging at Maya's sleeve, urging her to get moving but halted to deflect a stray rock that flew at his motionless trainer.

Sparky shot forward and delivered a powerful punch to the Registeel with her arm glowing white, causing the steel titan to stagger back slightly from the force. Sparky then had to dodge a powerful metal claw attack that smashed the ground she had been standing on. Tsurara and Ruby shot shadow balls at the beast, but they only slowed it down slightly. Volt tried a thunderbolt, but all it did was irritate the metal goliath. Haxorus used rock slide to drop a hailstorm of boulders on the titan, but the regi simply smashed through them with metal claw and fired another flash cannon that forced the attacking pokemon to scramble out of the way. Kit fired a moonblast, but the Regi countered with a Flash cannon that tore through the fairy attack and sent the smaller pokemon flying back. Vivian tried to hold it back with psychic while Sparky and Kenichi attacked with rapid brick break attacks to its body. The titan roared and broke free of the attack and smashed the two fighting types back with a metal claw.

An ill aimed Flash Cannon tore through the ground on Maya's right, a massive fissure by her side that kicked up rock and dirt that she could feel hitting her side. That got her attention and immediately she found her muscles and voice. So she did the reasonable thing. She screamed. A loud shrill horrified shriek that she distantly couldn't believe came out of her throat. Tears bubbled up in her green eyes and rolled down dusty cheeks.

Aki didn't waste anymore time with that and grasped his trainer with his short arms and and dragged her out of range, hiding her behind a wall of large discarded rocks. She still gave aborted shrieks and her eyes stared straight ahead blankly like she was watching something else. Watching snow and ice crack and fall rather than rock.
