Mariko was starting to feel like she was dealing with someone whose moods changed at a shift in the wind. “I’m from Ecruteak City located in Johto.” She said to answer the question of where she was from, while only nodding at the apology that had been given about the tea spitting incident.
“And about Snowdrop… Well I do not plan on letting her evolve.” Her she pointed at the necklace that was around the little Pokemon’s neck. “I had this Everstone necklace made for her. I know it seems cruel to not let her evolve, but to me, she is perfect the way she is. I don’t know what changes in personality would come with her evolution and I do not wish to risk that.”
However, when the girl brought back up Tsubame, Mariko nearly did something she didn’t do often, and that was curse. Instead she stopped in mid-sip of her tea and placed the cup back down, coughing politely into her fist as she tried to push off the question of her being flustered at the mere mention of the man she hadn’t seen in a while. “I haven’t seen him since he came in… And took me to lunch. I see it as he probably was playing with my emotions just to see if he could. I issued a challenge, he found it interesting, I went to lunch with him… He won and left. Simple as that.” She said, though the words seemed harder to say out loud than to think.
”Jhoto? That’s a long way away! Why are you here? Your elegance is too modest for this place, it’s so hot!!” She said finally needing to remove her long, adorable coat revealing a cute, complicated and covered with bows sky blue dress.
”Wait, no way? Really?! You aren’t going to evolve her? But smoochum’s are like useless in battle! As soon as I get the chance my twin eevees are going to grow up super strong and I’m going to start a gym in Celosia with Akane at my side!” She couldn’t help but ball her hands into fists and shake with excitement. But were doused when Mariko abruptly and maybe even violently spoke about the man who Alruna soon figured out, was just a player.
”Yeah, I know those types. Men are awful, you shouldn’t put up with that. So did you break it off or did he?” She didn’t realize the fact she might have been pouring more gasoline on Mariko’s still fiery emotions on the subject. ”Too bad they’re so cute. Maybe I should date him to teach that player a lesson!” She refilled her tea cup with the remaining tea and as the waiter dropped by to pick up their dirty plates, she requested another small cake; strawberry for Mariko and chocolate this time for herself.
“I came here for a new start. It is further away from home, and no one is here that is from Ecruteak as far as I know. Though, trust me, I am far from the level of elegance or modesty you see in me.” Mariko started though she wasn’t sure what else to add after the fact she had just stated, only to decide to answer why she was not allowing Snowdrop to evolve. “I’m not going to use my Pokemon in battles if I can help it. I am more drawn to contests, which is all I use Snowdrop for.” She answered evenly, shuddering at the mere thought of sending her Pokemon out onto a battle field of any sort. It was then she thought about the comment that seemed to mention Akane in it, and decided to voice her question, only to be stopped as That Man was once more brought up into the conversation. “I doubt he would learn it… He seems to be stuck in his ways. I am starting to feel as though having a fancy for someone is going to just end me up in a dead end. And of all the men to even break through the barriers I had strategically placed up, it had to be the, as you so nicely put it, player type.”
Listening to the older woman relay her tale, Alruna couldn’t help but jump to certain conclusions. ’Just what kind of place is it? If she’s not modest enough for it, it must be the capitol of the prudes. Was she kicked out because of that player? She never stated exactly where or how long ago she had met him. She’s fair skinned, but she’s been here for at least a few months.’ Or was it something… illegal?
”Why did you need to get away from Ecruteak? Because you think you aren’t elegant enough? Because I think you are absolutely beautiful. No wonder that man wanted you so badly. A tough nut to crack, I dare say even a challenge, perhaps.” She shook her head, a gesture of possibly trying to empty out the negative feelings. She was soon startled at Mariko’s next comment though.
”What? Contests? But where’s the excitement? The glory? There’s a reason they have been nearly eradicated on the mainland. Only gym leaders and champions make it big. How many contests have you won?” She meant no malice but was insanely curious by such an odd hobby that had lost so much reverence back home.
”Player types are good at that. They know just what to say and how to say it, just to get what they want! But as a general rule, the sex is pretty good. Was it?” Of course she was referring to the mass of comics she had read, with no real experience on her own, but perhaps it would seem otherwise to her company. Especially because she was eighteen-a perfectly common age to start.
”Well at least you don’t talk to him anymore. Can move on.” she smiled.
Mariko shook her head. “It’s not that Ecruteak is a bad place. I ended up here because I didn’t make it as a Kimono dancer.” She responded ignoring most of the flattery that followed after the comment about getting away from Ecruteak. “And yes, contests. I feel like with my training I should be at least a little better at them than battles. I don’t like seeing Pokemon harmed. I’m sure that makes me seem foolish. But I refuse to stand by and order my Pokemon to get harmed.” She stated sharply with her conviction about the topic before coughing into her hand lightly. “I have yet to win a contest. But each one I participate in until I win, I see as practice to figure out what I could do better in the next one.”
When the girl brought up Tsubame, Mariko’s face went bright red. “We did nothing of the sort! He only took me to lunch! I would never…!” She sputtered, the last comment the other girl made lost in her mind.
Prasha had heard of this tea house. Many people had hinted that Prasha should visit. Being a rival tea shop had Prasha worried, but it did not matter. All Prasha wanted was a good cup of tea and a place to rest his feet for a while. Prasha walked toward the place and opened its door. The warm feeling and the decoration made him feel right back at his tea shop. A little smiled appeared at his face as he walked toward a table.
Zeal was sharp at his feet. She was the only Pokemon he knew that hated her ball even if it was a special designed ball for her utmost comfort. Zeal checked the surroundings and nuzzled at Prasha's leg. "Yes, Zeal I am sure they would let you lay down near me." Prasha rubbed just behind Zeal's ear as he sat at the table. He swore he could have heard familiar voices behind him, but he choose to focus on ordering an unfamiliar tea that he had not tasted.
Ki-kimono… Dancer? Alruna rolled her eyes mulling over what they were. Finally an image came to her. ”Kimono dancers oh! Like the ones in those advertisements! They’re so pretty! With those bows and bobbles on the front of their kimonos, and the flowers in their hair and the make up!” She was swooning at the thought of dressing up as one of those kimono ladies with the dresses drooping off the side and revealing a creamy white flawless shoulder, and sometimes thickly covered hickies.
”Pokemon don’t get seriously injured… do they? They just faint and come back. So it’s okay if they get hurt, as long as you have potions for them.” She suggested more than stated it, squishing the chubby cheeks of her fat eevee partner who seemed not to notice or care about the conversation. She stopped when Mariko blurted out rather bluntly about her and the playboy.
”What? That’s like the only thing men like that are good for… I mean like, how did you not know he was a player? Was it like your first date or something?” she dreamily sighed, waiting for the day she would meet her man. She waited for the other woman to calm down, but it seemed like it would take an eternity-she was blushing very hard. Before she had the chance to cool down, a suspicious character waltzed into the tea-house. He had a massive persian, nasty creature Alruna muttered under her breath, but even her eevee had its ears down and was growling at the creature.
”Speaking of men like that…” Alruna grumbled angrily and loud enough only for Miss Mariko’s ears, ”I bet that’s one now!” the man looked the player type. Like he had money to waste on beautiful women, and the dark skin and mysterious dark past bullshit that drives women wild.
Mariko, seeing the other was waiting for her to respond, started to try calming herself down. “First of all, I must correct you. The people in those commercials are most likely actresses of a different sort. Kimono Dancers of Ecruteak never appear on the television for any reason. Secondly, just seeing a Pokemon faint makes me upset because there is so much that could have been done to prevent it from happening in the first place, such as not battling at all. And… Yes… I guess you could say that was my first date… But I don’t wish to speak more on that matter.” She answered in a hurried manner before giving the other a questioning look, confused by the sudden change in expression and tone the other girl had and was using.
“What do you mean by that?” She questioned, wondering if she should indulge the other and glance at whoever the other was talking about at the moment. Then again, she didn’t want to be rude… Internally shrugging she went instead with the option of taking a sip of her tea, glancing briefly at Snowdrop, who had apparently fallen back asleep at some point in the conversation, thus answering the question of why she had been so quiet up until now.
Zeal noticed the Eevee growling at her as she lay at Prasha's feet. Her sleek white fur glistened in the lighting of the teahouse and her gem reflected a prism on the wall just beyond. Zeal stood up elegantly and let out a deep purr and nuzzled her master's hand.
"Down, girl. It is just a tiny eevee no need to be alarmed." Prasha pulled the scarf mask from his face and looked toward the girl staring at him from across the room. Prasha got up and walked over to the two lady table. Prasha recognized Mariko off the bat. "Well hello there, Mariko." Prasha's tone was soothing to the ears and gentle. He had a long day of traveling and he was tired. "How are things at the clinic?"
Prasha then turned toward the lady holding the Eevee. "Very sorry Zeal startled your companion." Zeal came closer to Prasha and rubbed against his leg. The big Persian let out a deep purr as she settled in to her surroundings.
Intrigued by the Kimono dancers, Alruna couldn’t shake the idea of them being almost princess-like; beautiful, untouchable, living the dream, yet having to dedicate every second of every day to the art form. When addressed by Mariko about her sudden change in tone, Alruna couldn’t help but growl, but her growl suddenly morphed into a soft-chirp when the man approached. He seemed to know Mariko somehow, but Alruna couldn’t help but feel blatantly ignored.
”Excuse me! That’s rude to not even introduce yourself and then to bring the creature closer! I don't care how attractive you know you are!”She angrily fumed waiting for the man to introduce himself or at the very least remove the Persian from the premises. She patted her puffed up eevee back down into her lap to keep it from springing on the much larger pokemon, all the while angrily pouting after realized he had no intention of putting it back in its ball. She waited eagerly for him to either redeem himself or for Mariko to ask him to leave.
Mariko was surprised to hear the voice that came up right beside the table. “Prasha? When did you get back to Celosia?” She asked before the second question caught up with her. “My clinic is doing well. Thank you for asking.” She responded before looking at Alruna who looked up in arms, as well as the Eevee in her lap. The two of them seemed to be glaring down the other pretty intensely. And before she could comprehend what was happening, Alruna was demanding to know who the other was, and was making a comment about how the other looked. “Oh dear…” Mariko muttered to herself, looking down at Snowdrop who had stirred briefly in her arms making her wonder if the small Pokemon was going to wake up once more. She seriously hoped the other wasn’t going to wake up, especially with how tense the atmosphere was at the moment.
Prasha did not want to wake the little Pokemon. He stooped down and introduced himself. "My name is Prasha Kesiem, I am the attractive baker from Pyron. Please excuse me." Prasha's voice was low and soothing, with an ice tone to it. "I'm very sorry that Zeal riled up your Eevee, she cannot stand her pokeball." Zeal came from behind Prasha and nuzzled his hand purring deep and loudly. "She does not mean any harm, the only person she would harm is if one were to attack me."
Prasha turned toward Mariko acknowledging her question. "I am passing through to check the shop in Pyron and to see how Itzy is fitting in down there, then ill head back to the Western plains. You should come and see the inn sometime as well if you head that way, I could actually use some help with the poke center in the gym too." Prasha rubbed the back of his head, smiling.

Zandrophin's week had been rather hectic. He'd had a lot of paperwork to fill out, logistical issues to solve, and even a few bills to pay. He needed a drink to calm him down and thankfully, he knew just the place: the tea house in Enya.
He'd been to this place before. He'd received decent service at a very justified price. He decided why not go again. With a small, bright flash, he set his feet down about 50 yards from the entrance to the building. He rolled up the sleeves on his open black dress shirt; it was rather warm today. His silver necklace flashed in the bright sun against his dark undershirt. He considered removing it, along with his ring, but he figured no one would know anything about the SCPC...and anyone that did probably wouldn't ask.
He walked through the door, and couldn't help but be surprised by who he saw on the other side of the door.
"Well...well.....well..." he said calmly, "look who it is. Funny meeting you here Mr. Kesiem. Worried you might have some competition in the tea scene?"
Do not fight for a cause or for what you believe in: Fight for yourself, because who you are rarely changes. Zandrophin
Alruna was so angry she had baby tears welling in the corners of her eyes, even her eevee was growling noticing her owner was obviously upset. Her anger subsided enough for her to apologize to Mariko for waking the smoochum. But when Prasha introduced himself as the attractive baker, the silence was all over for the poor baby pokemon.
“He said, suddenly making himself ten times less attractive.” Her voice wasn’t quite to the point of yelling, but it was by no means quiet. Alruna rolled her eyes and slumped to the side of the booth, awkwardly waiting for him to leave, but ready for a verbal argument. Until of course, yet another attractive man waltzed in. His voice was smooth and his tone smug, which just drove Alruna even more up the wall.
“What is this?! Everybody knows everybody day? Just who the hell are you?!” she whined more than spoke. Players… Players everywhere! Her precious, white furred eevee was too distracted with trying to decide which one to growl at. Desperately she looked to Mariko, ‘Who the hell are these people?!’ her eyes pleaded to her new friend.
Mariko gave a small sigh at seeing the girl in front of her becoming upset. She didn’t know what to do in this situation, especially since she was currently balancing trying to keep Snowdrop from getting anymore upset, since she woke up with the loudness of the other’s voice, and the fact that she was seemingly being dragged further into a conversation that could end badly depending on the parties involved. “Please, calm down Alruna. These two are people whom I have interacted with before. You’re new here, so of course you wouldn’t know the two of them.” She said, trying to keep her voice calm, while at the same time gently bouncing Snowdrop in her arms to quiet the sniffling, and soft sobbing the Smoochum had started. “And please, lower your voice! We are in public, and you’re going to draw attention to us. I would rather not be thrown out.” She chided this time, not sure if she had the right to do so, but not regretting it since the situation was getting as insane as it was. The sudden entrance of the two men definitely seemed to have shaken things up, and not in a good way what-so-ever.
