"Protect!" Eira cried out when she saw the attack coming for Grace when she had just healed. Grace let out a small grunt at the effort to put another protective barrier when she had done so not long ago. This one was weaker than the first since it had been that long between barriers, but still strong enough that Grace received minimal amount of damage from the attack that could have easily knocked her out cold. Eira thought rapidly about what she could possibly do now that she was pushed back into a defensive position, which was where she had trained Grace to be, but she did not know for how much longer Grace was going to last against a Pokemon like Haxorus coming at her with all of its might.
Z smiled in happiness at how this casual battle between friends was making him feel so free, "you're a good fighter, Eira. I forgot Grace could use protect, and it seems that I've used up my strongest attack. Haxorus, be careful. You won't last against a pokemon that can heal like grace now that Draco Meteor has been used up."
The dragon pokemin nodded as he watched Grace and caught his breath from the drain on his power that came with moves like Draco Meteor. He was wary of what the round pokemon was going to pull on him now that the power of half of his attacks had been weakened.
Eira took a calming breathe since it was clear that Grace's Protect was going to hold for a few more uses at this rate and the fact that it was able defend her from such a powerful looking attack. She crossed her fingers as she sent up prayer that another Metronome was going to help her out a bit more now that this round was coming to such a climax.
"Grace, let's try Metronome once more," she called to her partner Pokemon, who nodded before she began to wave her hands to summon forth whatever attack her power allowed for. Nothing seemed to happen at first, but then Grace began to speak in a warbling voice at a very fast pitch that Eira couldn't understand in any sense. She was unsure of what this move even was or what had happened, but she hoped that it was going to be beneficial for them.
(It's the move Flatter, which confuses the opponent and raises the opponent's Sp.Atk)
Z wasn't too sure what was going on, but he noticed that Haxorus had gotten his wind back, "Alright, use Dragon Claw!"
Haxorus roared and charged energy into his claw...before promptly tripping over his own feet and slamming his face with the attack, doing a good deal of damage to himself due to the type advantage.
"...What in Arceus's name just happened?" asked Z as he gaped at his starter's sudden clumsiness.
Eira couldn't help but to stare at Haxorus' sudden clumsiness, knowing full well that there was no way she could have gotten that lucky when Z trained his Pokemon much more than she did so he could run his gym. She paused for a moment before she decided that this would be the break she needed in order to go on the offensive against one of Z's most powerful Pokemon. "Grace!"
Grace jumped at the sudden demanding tone that her mother figure was using with her, not understanding that Eira was just nervous about what she was about to instruct the large Pokemon to do.
"Use your Return!" Eira called to her, pointing towards the collapsed Haxorus, hoping to take advantage of the large dragon being taken down by its own attack to finish it off. Grace paused before she began running towards Haxorus with her arms glowing brightly, the attack being incredibly powerful with how much Grace loved and trusted Eira and all of that emotion being channelled into her attack.
The power of the Return attack sent Haxorus flying back. He managed to stay standing though and roared in defiance, but was rather weakened from the strength that the attack had behind it. "Draco Meteor!" yelled Z as he tried to salvage the situation. Haxorus charged a ball of golden energy in his maw...which promptly blew up in his face, knocking him to the ground from the damage behind the attack.
Eira smiled brightly at the fact that Grace had now managed to win her very first battle, the large pink Pokemon doing her own little dance at the judgement of her win.
"Come on back, Grace, and take a rest," Eira called to her beloved baby, who was clearly not so much of a baby anymore. She waited for Grace to come back to her side before she chose her next Pokemon, deciding to take advantage of the early lead to use one of her more battle ready Pokemon. "It's your turn, Cloud!"
The excessively large bird came swooping out of his ball with a twinkling call before he rested just above the field not too far from Eira, clearly ready for whatever challenge Z had for him.
Cloud did not have the time to dodge the attack thrown at him, so the Shadow Ball ended up exploding in his beak. When the small amount of smoke cleared, Eira took a step away from the field in fear of the face that her partner was making. Cloud was normally quite the jovial Pokemon, but the moment someone ruined his feathers was the moment he turned into another Pokemon entirely and that Shadow Ball did well to singe the feathers that Cloud held quite dear to himself. Letting out an incredibly deep cry for an Altaria, Cloud released a glowing purple beam from his beak as a powerful Dragon Pulse that, if it did not hit, would most likely wear Cloud down.
Z sighed as he saw how irritated Ruby had made the other pokemon, "I said behave!" Ruby just cackled and fired a black and purple blast of energy from her jewel eyes that slammed into the beam from the dragon type, meeting it force for force, trying to overpower the dragon type's attack with her own Dark type attack.
"Cloud, you need to calm down and think about who you are facing off against!" Eira called to her Pokemon in an attempt to get this battle back into order, especially with the knowledge that Cloud won't care what he will have to do to get revenge on the one who ruined his precious feathers. She was worried that the Cloud in this mood would go so far as to ruin something of Ruby's, which could lead to injury on a Pokemon like a Sableye. "Try using your Moonblast instead."
Cloud gave a shriek of rage as he flew higher into the air and potentially out of Ruby's reach before he began to power up his new attack, his rage channelling into this new attack that he trusted Eira knew would do more damage than his previous one.
"Oh dear," said Z, "She really did it this time. This is why I said to behave, Ruby!" he yelled at the cheeky pokemon. Ruby laughed and shot at Cloud, trying to slash at her opponant with a Shadow Claw before the attack could land on her. She charged her claws with purple energy and slashed several times at the cloud-like pokemon, trying to damage it enough to make it miss.
Cloud floated higher and higher into the air to avoid the attack, finding the little creature incredibly annoying as it continuously came after him. In an attempt to simply get rid of the pest, Cloud released his attack in full force, coating the field in a soft pink glow as a beam of pink light shot its way towards Ruby. Eira had to shield her eyes from the blinding light, knowing full well that if this attack missed, Cloud would only have his defense to rely on for quite some time. She had no idea that her Pokemon had gotten so worked up to use up so much of his energy and she hoped that this attack did not seriously damage the Sableye if it landed.
The attack slammed into Ruby and sent her flying into the ground, digging a trench into the ground as she was sent skidding from the blast. When the blast ended, Ruby was lying unconscious in the ground with her tongue hanging out of her mouth as her gem eyes had spirals in them.
Z sighed as he returned Ruby, "I did warn her. That's a win for you, milady. Now for the next act. Tempest, GO!"
Z hurled a Pokeball into the air, releasing one of his newer pokemon, a Swampert named Tempest.
Eira sighed when she saw that the one attack had managed to knock out the little Pokemon with Cloud panting with a mixture of rage and exhaustion. Recalling her large friend before he could protest, Eira shook her head. "I apologize for the way Cloud chose to win that match. That was going too far for a friendly battle and he could have seriously injured your Pokemon with that attack."
Upon seeing Z's Swampert, Eira was amazed at how powerful this new Pokemon appeared to be and made a note that she had to chose her next Pokemon wisely if she was going to win this match. Knowing the perfect opponent for such a Pokemon, Eira called out one of her newest companions. "Bullet, let's see what you can do in a real battle!"
